What lockdown habit will you keep after this is all over?

I have a few I think

  • click and collect for shopping (find it actually easier than delivery).
  • weekly pasta subscription

Anything you’ve started that you’ll keep once we are back to normal (whenever that is).

I've read more in the last year than any time since I left school. I think a lot of it has to do with being less exhausted from my commute and actually being able to stay awake to read in bed, but I would like to keep at it.

Going for walks with my sister. We never did that before and I do enjoy it. Would always have called round for a coffee and biscuits.

willFOURbagsbeenough · 04/02/2021 18:31

Oh leggings. I’m never wearing anything else again. Comfort trumps all now. I’ve reorganised my wardrobe so the same few “outfits” that I’ve been naturally going for are all sitting right at the front ready to grab and go and everything else packed away at the back. If I need anything else often enough I’ll just keep it at the front in future.

Trillo · 04/02/2021 18:32

No impulse shopping - have saved so much money I used to spend on clothes and make up I never wore.

Duolingo and Readly.

WFH.

Meal planning and new recipe experiments.

Making bread. It's been a revelation and I'm trying new recipes all the time.
Brown, wholemeal, beer and mustard bread, chilli and cheese bread. All delicious and it doesn't help with the weight!

Facials. I've been doing my own facials... face masks, face roller etc. I regularly paid goodness knows what for facials. No more. I've bought some pricey beauty products and my skin is better doing it myself.

GintyMcGinty · 04/02/2021 18:32

Exercising to online class instead of the expense of the gym

Online food shopping

Working from home

I'm a convert to all three.

Manzana · 04/02/2021 18:33

Like a couple of other PP, keep going with Duolingo Spanish, I have done a few lessons every day since March. Also washing my hands more strictly to avoid common colds and viruses.

plasticCandles · 04/02/2021 18:34

I did a lot of it pre covid so it’s not much different for me. It’s strange to see others struggling with what I’ve always chosen to do (social distancing, cleaning lots, hand sanitiser, anti bac wiping shopping trolley etc or atm). I have asd and ocd about germs so this hasn’t been a big upheaval at all for me although I do feel sad to see others struggling. I always wished people might understand but it doesn’t feel good now they do I feel bad for everyone as it’s stressful to worry all the time and I hope soon it’s back to normal for everyone else

Gil55 · 04/02/2021 18:34

Baking. Turns out I'm quite good at it. Who knew?

Jaxhog · 04/02/2021 18:34

Food shopping delivery (so convenient)
Zooming friends who don't live nearby
Facetiming my Mum every day (as well as visiting)
Walking most days

MintyMabel · 04/02/2021 18:35

Meal planning. I’ve been trying to convince OH to it for years as he does all the cooking but gets pissed off with having to decide what’s for dinner every day. We’ve had a meal plan since lockdown started so hopefully it will continue.

Jaxhog · 04/02/2021 18:35

@willFOURbagsbeenough definitely keeping the leggings!

UselessYoke · 04/02/2021 18:37

Comfort over style for clothes. I’ll still make an effort, but I have realised I really, really like being comfy and it improves my life so much.

No booze. I quit completely in the first lockdown and it has had an all round massively positive effect in all areas of my life (I was quite a heavy drinker!).

Daily meditation. I’ve got a really good practice going on now and I love it.

DuaLipaSuction · 04/02/2021 18:38

I thought the opening title said which "hobbit". Slightly different thread than I was expecting...

billysboy · 04/02/2021 18:39

Not going to the supermarket for nearly a year now

Delivery every Friday has been fantastic rather than traipsing around with a trolley when I could be arsed

I look at the people in the carpark in bewilderment now , why would you not want to have it delivered or click and collect

Not been to the Pub either for nearly a year as well very pleased to break that habit

mum2jakie · 04/02/2021 18:43

Walking more regularly - although will be lovely for this not to be the only form of entertainment available!

Working from home more frequently - again nice to have the option to do this and not forced to!

speakout · 04/02/2021 18:43

Daily yoga.

Trillo · 04/02/2021 18:44

Thought of another - celebrating everything even if not our own religious or social traditions. Diwali, Thanksgiving, Hogmanay, Chinese New Year - if there’s a meal and some fairy lights we’re doing it.

likeacrow · 04/02/2021 18:54

Baking too. I find it quite relaxing whereas I'd always previously thought of it as a bit pointless.

Hopeful201 · 04/02/2021 18:59

Meal planning- I cook and enjoy it. In the old days I used to open the freezer door and hope there was something suitable in it. I am so much happier.
I have always done a lot of exercise, I have kept it up on my own, I can't wait to go back to the gym and pool though.
Speaking to my friends more and checking up on people.

DinosApple · 04/02/2021 19:06

Yoga is new in my life, so is grown up Joe Wicks work outs and Just Dance on YouTube. I'd like to continue not being a too much of a consumerist.

We dropped the after-school clubs last Spring and it's a great feeling. My kids are quite introverted and perfectly happy going home to chill!

It took me years to stop foisting my idea of what would make them happy onto them Blush.

Happymum12345 · 04/02/2021 19:17

Not seeing my mother in law.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 04/02/2021 19:18

My awesome Echelon bike and online classes. It was meant to be a stop gap until the gym reopens but I'm going to have a hard time giving it up.

PrincessNutNuts · 04/02/2021 19:20

@Happymum12345

Not seeing my mother in law.
Mine's abroad. It works. Wink
BeaSmithers · 04/02/2021 19:23

Absolutely nothing. I can't wait to get back to muly life as it was before. I miss my weekly catch ups with friends and family, I miss the gym, I miss mooching round the shops, I miss eating out, I miss chatting to random people in the pub. The list goes on and on.
