What lockdown habit will you keep after this is all over?

I have a few I think

  • click and collect for shopping (find it actually easier than delivery).
  • weekly pasta subscription

Anything you’ve started that you’ll keep once we are back to normal (whenever that is).

Playing the piano.

I find it's the only thing that takes my mind off things instantly.

VirtualLearning · 04/02/2021 22:49

I will keep up going outside in all weathers. I’ve found a really nice pleasure in using waterproof trousers for the first time and decent gloves and just making the most of it even in heavy showers. The variety becomes quite nice!

shinynewapple2021 · 04/02/2021 22:50

Working from home as much as possible

Daily walks

Not sure about the shopping ; although delivery and click n collect is much quicker, and stops impulse buys, I think it will be nice to go round a shop again just to see any new lines they have rather than just shopping from my 'favourites' list.

No more kissing/hugging/handshaking people I don't know.

ChaToilLeam · 04/02/2021 23:07

Walking every day
Learning Gaelic
Meal planning - saves us time and money
Sewing - I have never done it so much before a s I love it

But I will be oh, so happy when this is over, and can see family and friends properly, and travel, and go to beer gardens. DP and my hobbies are keeping me more or less sane, but this isolation is rough.

Busydoingnowt · 04/02/2021 23:17

Lockdown has hardly been a journey of self improvement for me but I have got into podcasts during my walks and I’ll definitely continue to listen to them. Have also enjoyed being in natural surroundings far more than I used to, probably because the urban environment is a bit of a sad place when everything is shut.

I already used to meal plan and have decreased my overall activity level. I’m drinking more than I ever have and I’m bigger than I’ve ever been. I’ve acquired zero new skills. I’ve hardly even watched any good TV.

VerbenaGirl · 04/02/2021 23:23

Less travelling to meetings - Teams is fine.
Saturday afternoon board games with teens - we’ve laughed a lot.
Lunch hour baths - genius!

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 05/02/2021 00:09

I agree with you screamingchildregarding the hugging etc , but I would include people I do know !

watchingabike · 05/02/2021 00:25

GrimDamnFanjo · 05/02/2021 01:22

Yoga
Walking
Avoiding carbs
Just started coding
Learning how to cook Indian food
Wearing perfume every day

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 05/02/2021 01:41

I really hope that the 2m rule still happens and that space invaders are eliminated from society Grin

garlictwist · 05/02/2021 05:55

I haven't really taken up many new habits in lockdown. I have always done exercise from home and have continued with that. I am reading more in lockdown which I'd like to continue but that's because I'm working from home so can be more flexible with when I work, it's a bit harder to find the time when I'm in the office.

MutteringDarkly · 05/02/2021 08:07

Skype group calls with two close friends at once - distance and children and jobs meant it had been ages since all three of us could meet at the same time. In the past year we've Skyped every couple of months and it's been almost like old times when we were feckless students to all three be chatting together.

Having a routine for helping my mum - I always popped in and did things as needed, but last April we made a calendar of jobs for the whole year (from putting bins out, to organising boiler service) and she's so much calmer knowing it's all in hand. Makes it easier to just enjoy chatting together without it being a list of jobs.

Pizza Pilgrims kit for my birthday etc - delicious, easy to assemble, and everyone likes it.

Milk delivery - 3 times a week, from our milkman who is probably lovely but I've never glimpsed him. Could be Santa delivering it tbh.

Masterpieceontheshelf · 05/02/2021 08:56

Zoom calls with Uni friends that are scattered around the country.
That's it.
Everything else can fuck off Grin

peak2021 · 05/02/2021 09:30

Working from home. Daily walk. Might keep face coverings for some situations such as GP appointments.

One way system in supermarkets
I haven't been in a supermarket for a long time, but that seems a good idea to me.
Aroundtheworldin80moves · 05/02/2021 19:45

I haven't seen a one way system in the supermarket in months.

amymel2016 · 05/02/2021 19:48

Staying at home a bit more and not running into town every 5 minutes for nothing, plus going on daily walks regardless of the weather

bonbonours · 05/02/2021 21:35
  • Zoom calls with friends who live far away.
  • Parents evening online is brilliant, so much better than in person, even the secondary one where we spoke to 10 different teachers!
  • Hoping DH can continue to WFH rather than unnecessarily wasting four hours a day commuting.
hawleybits · 05/02/2021 22:46

Hello Fresh. Even with more time at home, it has taken the boredom out of meal planning and shopping and I find I stick rigidly to a budget this way. We have four meals for two people each week and I do a small supermarket shop for the weekend and the pets.
As if I needed an excuse to be any more lazy than I am.

Passthecake30 · 05/02/2021 23:03

Working from home
A walk before wfh, lunchtime YouTube workouts instead of hitting the gym late evening.
Watching series in the evenings with the preteens, getting quality time
Weekly meal plans, food deliveries, no more traipsing round the shops.

yeOldeTrout · 06/02/2021 11:24

It is nicer to go swimming midday than early morning.
I could WFH on odd day off to do that.

-As I look out at buckets of rain today & no realistic way to exercise but run in the sodden-ness.
