@gally123 @carosel2 thanks for the reassurance.
Can you do a note asking them not to slurp and eat and hold the mic under their noses,😠😱

@Cherryblossom114 er no, else you might end up with a with one of their "helpful" feedback messages. However you can just mention, I think, "background noise" or "faint dictation." I often put a general note at the start of a letter to ask them to "check it careful due to background noise and/or quiet dictation difficult to hear" but I think the quietness is becoming an issue and it is getting worse. (Not due to my hearing, thankfully, deffo them, don't have this problem with Tpro). I wonder what the cause is.

I gave up after 2 hours yesterday, was getting nowhere financially and the background noise on some tasks was far too loud and dictation appalling. Surely DICT8 must give these hospitals some direction regarding dictation and why, if the secretaries at the other end are getting letters with loads of notes attached, haven't they addressed this ? Maybe there are no secretaries, maybe they have all left as the money is certainly not enough to endure this shit day in day out !!!

Report
Gally123 · 04/06/2021 10:54

@Meha5a - you lasted longer than me - I did 2 letters then swapped to Tpro. Kept checking back but still the same dire dictation.

Report
danblack87 · 04/06/2021 11:00

I only typed handful yesterday.

@Meha5a
Yes, financially we end up with bigger electric bills trying to fathom it out and the reward is "you typed"....

@Gally123 - absolutely!
@Meha5a - Grin Grin Grin

@Cherryblossom114 - "you typed" is very accusing maybe "you interpreted" said crap dictation would be more amenable. I know when I first started I found the feedback incredibly soul destroying, then over time I found it petty and now I just do not care !!!! 🤣🤣

@Gally123 it's nice to know I wasn't alone in my thinking yesterday, still I got a nice tan so there was an upside !

@Meha5a - we only had cloud and light rain yesterday and it looks like the same today so no sloping off outside, unfortunately.

What an awful day Sad with dictation today ... I wonder where these letters are being dictated from (in my Specialties especially, and I have four) - just newbies s far as I can tell. Diabolical waste of a day Angry.

@meha5a@ Soul destroying isn't it?

Report
Gally123 · 04/06/2021 20:55

@danblack87 @Meha5 - or when you've typed it and the doctor says - and it is usually a man - "Oh actually, I've already done this, just delete it..."

Report
danblack87 · 04/06/2021 22:01

@Gally123@ I agree that is so annoying - makes me so angry and that One letter can be like 10/15 mins of wasted time!!!!!

Report
danblack87 · 04/06/2021 22:08

@Gally123: best way round your previous comment (as I have found .... with no adverse feedback) is to type it - don't scrap the dictation *you have put in the time . ... So: in the notes box (Note to Sec: "Sorry, just delete this as already dictated" -- that way you get paid for the lines you have typed Grin. It's a note is it not??

Report
danblack87 · 04/06/2021 22:18

p.S: I don't think we get penalised by adverse feedback as in fact anything typed is income to Dict8 ... whatever the outcome of that letter - Notes box, notes box 'fellow typists' we are encouraged to use??? That is down to the dictator to sort themselves out in my opinion?

Report
danblack87 · 04/06/2021 22:21

One further thing - the dictator has the option to delete that task before sending it through ot Dict* - not my problem ... all they need to do is rewind and scrap that task themselves. It must be rather annoying for the Secs at the other end to have to check that task and then find it is Null and void??

I would find it ultimately annoying and the only way for secs to indicate to their respective in-house checking team is to 'flag it up' thereby negating time wasted by us and also the checkers at the other end??? We don't need to be rude about it ...it happens ... I have experienced it myself from the other side. AND in fact made a point about it at a Team Meeting years ago. It's called 'acceptable constructive criticism' AND 'unnecessary money being spent'. I recall where I was they did training sessions for the dictators !!!!

An hour in and one letter typed. Dictation this morning is absolutely diabolical. Why oh why can't they dictate properly and clearly is beyond me. I cannot get past the first five, they are all abysmal. Angry It's getting beyond a joke.

Report
Gally123 · 07/06/2021 10:49

@flutterby18 - I had a couple of days like that last week. I just wish DICT8 would educate people on how to use the equipment, and the proper way to dictate as they remove any messages we might leave on dictator failings (such as please do not move around when dictating or please speak into the handset).
