Anyone taking their decs down?

I put them up late and will take them down on Jan1st but there’s a trend of taking them down for Boxing Day now. Does anyone last until 12th night?

OP posts:
MrsDeadlock · 26/12/2020 12:30

I'm itching to take mine down but will try and resist for a few days.

The 12th night is locally known as "deccys down day"

PotteringAlong · 26/12/2020 12:30

Ours will come down the day before we go back to school

Sparklingbrook · 26/12/2020 12:31

I will be taking mine down bit by bit starting this afternoon.

FenEel · 26/12/2020 12:31

12th night here. They didn’t go up until 18 Dec.

SnuggyBuggy · 26/12/2020 12:32

I usually do it at some point after New Year's. Wouldn't dream of taking them down in December.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 26/12/2020 12:32

We usually wait until 12th night although the outside lights might come down before as DH has to do it in the daytime.

shinynewapple2020 · 26/12/2020 12:32

NO!! I've only just put them up Grin

lomojojo · 26/12/2020 12:32

12th night -- we have a dinner and do it after

meow1989 · 26/12/2020 12:33

I'm a big fan of down as soon as possible, was going to do today but ds was poorly last night so we are having a lazy telly day and will take down tomorrow.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 26/12/2020 12:33

@PotteringAlong

Ours will come down the day before we go back to school
That’s what we always do. This year it’s looking like that’ll be mid January Grin
Murinae · 26/12/2020 12:33

Planning on taking mine down on 2nd or 3rd Dec before I go back to work on the 4th

Murinae · 26/12/2020 12:34

I meant Jan!

MagicSummer · 26/12/2020 12:34

New Year's Day for me - it's nice to make a fresh start and clean up all the debris! Oh and throw away all the 2020 calendars and diaries which seem to accumulate every year.

1starwars2 · 26/12/2020 12:34

@Potteringalong i
I am envisioning you still having them up in Feb, the way things are going. Hope not, though.

kowari · 26/12/2020 12:35

Ours usually stay up until the Sunday before school goes back. So the 3rd this year. I usually leave a few things until Candlemas though.

SlipperTripper · 26/12/2020 12:35

Desperate to... but not moved from the sofa yet so it looks like they'll survive another day

TeenPlusTwenties · 26/12/2020 12:35

No way! We only put our tree up on Monday!

For us Christmas period is Christmas Day -12th Night, not 1-25 December.

Peridot1 · 26/12/2020 12:36

Usually 12th night here but got a real tree this year and I’m not sure it will last till then.

Will leave some lights around even after the tree comes down though I think. Need something to brighten January up.

kowari · 26/12/2020 12:36

@Judashascomeintosomemoney
Luckily DS is a keyworker child so back on the 4th.

Cocolapew · 26/12/2020 12:37

I'm too hungover lazy today so they'll be down tomorrow.

WorraLiberty · 26/12/2020 12:39

I thought the 'trend' was purely a Mumsnet thing?

Every single Boxing Day - OP "AIBU to take my decorations down today?"

Most of Mumsnet - Yes

OP - "No I'm not and I do it every single year, so there!"

Most of Mumsnet - Xmas Confused Xmas Confused Xmas Confused "Errr...ok then"

Bluebaubles · 26/12/2020 12:40

I was still putting them up in Xmas Eve, not taking them down yet!

WorraLiberty · 26/12/2020 12:41

@PotteringAlong

Ours will come down the day before we go back to school
Could still be up at Easter then 👀😂
Changi · 26/12/2020 12:41

Ours will stay up until Christmas is over. It's only just started.

lovelemoncurd · 26/12/2020 12:41

I hate this shifting of Christmas from late Dec to beginning of Dec! It's driven by marketing people who want us all to spend money so people now start their decorating in early Dec and take everything down the day after ( similar to supermarkets). It's so fecking common!
