Is there a particular present you bought for someone this year that you just can’t wait to give them?
And if so what is it and why?

My dd has been asking for VIP pets. What she doesn’t know, is they have done a VIP pet salon.

So I’ve got her that as well as two VIP pets

She is going to be over the moon.

Ds has been going on about a dragon he saw a long time ago.

He hasn’t mentioned it in a while so I think he forgot about, but we’ve got it!

He will be surprised and hopefully happy to see it

3catsandcounting · 21/12/2020 15:11

Tickets for me & DH to see The Specials next Sept. we're 50+ as will most of the audience be! He'll love it!

indecisivewoman81 · 21/12/2020 15:14

Just wanted to say that this is the loveliest thread I have read in ages.

So much love shining out of these messages.

Nonamesavail · 21/12/2020 15:40

We have made all family members a set of stuff to play a family version of taskmaster. We have posted them with instructions not to read until Xmas day then there are envelopes of 1 task every month etc

ginsparkles · 21/12/2020 15:41

We have transformed my daughters playroom into a grownup den space. It's been out of bounds since the beginning of the month and I'm so excited to see her face when she sees a big bow on the door and gets to go inside!

Originalyellowbelly · 21/12/2020 16:02

A fire pit for my DH, I'm hoping Christmas evening will be fine so we can sit in the garden with it lit. Don't Wake Dad game for my 6yr old DGS, he is just into playing games and will love it.

ZombiePara · 21/12/2020 20:53

@TheChosenTwo

Yes *@ZombiePara* - they’re actually really good. And beer hawk give you £5 back per keg if you return them. Dh initially said it was a bit faffy but now we just wait until we have a load that need sending back in one go and get a decent amount off then next order. It’s great, we usually have one pump in the shed (pool table and dart board in there so a sociable space, dh and his friends spend quite a lot of time down there although obviously haven’t done for a while!) and one in the kitchen. It’s great for parties and the barrels are so easy to change. We have a fridge in the shed too so keep the barrels in there so it doesn’t take ages for them to cool down in the machine before you can drink from it. Enjoy!
Ahhh this is sounding better and better! Thank you! Glad you have had so much enjoyment from them, and I'm looking forward to trying them out with DP!

@Pumpkinstace

A switch for my 7 year old DD.

She asked for one on her list and I had a chat with her.

I explained Santa doesn't bring those type of gifts and it's far too expensive for mummy to buy (we are poor so she accepted this without question) but if we saved really hard we could maybe afford one in time for her (autumn) birthday.

She dealt with the disappointment so well I'm super excited.

@Pumpkinstace ❤️ This is lovely. I hope she is the happiest little person on Christmas morning
SweatyBetty20 · 21/12/2020 21:03

My boyfriend has been trying to find a sleeping bag that will fit him but with no joy (he is 6ft4) but I’ve managed to get one from Alpkit, so that we can go camping when the weather warms a little. Also a book on how to convert a van into a camper - let’s hope it gives him inspiration!

BlooBagoo · 21/12/2020 22:54

The massive shark arrived today from Ikea. Would it be cheating to wrap it in the box? Grin DD is 12 so I don't have to pretend Santa gets his boxes from Ikea if I do but I would also love to see her face with a huge unevenly shaped gift under the tree, I might have to try at least.

Wowthisisreal · 21/12/2020 23:07

@user1471565182 I need to know more about this tent log burner!!

DragonMamma · 21/12/2020 23:14

I managed to get my DS a PS5 - I’ve fully prepared him not to receive one because they were out of stock and I simply couldn’t get hold of one and then I did - he will be absolutely thrilled as he and his mates are lite geeky gamers 😍

DD is having a MacBook Air - she’s been asking for a MacBook for the past 4 years but knows how expensive they are so really isn’t expecting it.

It’s been the most expensive Christmas on record but they deserve it after endless disappointments and cancelled events this year.

Cannotwaitfornewyr · 21/12/2020 23:57

Our sil gave birth to our first niece a few weeks ago so for their present, I got them a framed print of the night sky from the day she was born. It has her full name and the date and her birthplace written on the print.
I wanted something special for them, as it is their firstborn.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 22/12/2020 00:12

For my mum I have a photo blanket. It has 39 photos of the family taken over the past year or so with a photo of her with all her grandchildren taken last year. Also I bought a little book "I love you because ----" and all the "kids" (all adults) have filled it in with funny and sweet comments.

Then for another family member I have a small stool and cushion personalised with a famous landmark that is very important to us both.

I won't see him open his present but I will be with mum my daughter who is coming on Christmas day has begged me to keep it until she arrives so she can see her open it.

farnworth · 23/12/2020 13:31

I did a photo blanket for my mum earlier this year. It was brilliant. Hope your mum loves it!

Dimpous · 23/12/2020 13:49

@Thankssomuch ah how lovely, honestly the best gift I ever received!

letsmakethetea · 23/12/2020 13:58

@SpinningBob

The Harry Potter Lego set of Diagon Alley for Dd(8)-she has been collecting it all for 3 years now,and plays with it all almost daily too! Every Christmas and birthday she saves any money from family ,and does her chores happily to earn pocket money to buy Lego- she has been saving so hard for so long for this ridiculously expensive set (£370). She is a lovely sweet girl, polite and helpful and kind to her younger sister and new baby brother and said she knew she couldn’t possibly ask for it as it was too expensive ,and we had to buy for the other two as well. She has been searching online ever hopeful that it goes on sale cheaper (unlikely!). DH had bought it a couple of months ago. She will be utterly blown away and I’m fully expecting her to be overwhelmed with it with a high chance of tears- so we are saving it as the last gift after her presents from Santa and few other gifts from us. Dd(5) has been desperately hoping for the wee Fire Spirt toy from Frozen 2 that you feed ice chips into its mouth, she will be delighted with that....and ds(5months) is getting a lion clock with a swishing tail pendulum for his room which will keep him entertained as he is mesmerised by the bird one his sister has. This thread has made me feel the most Christmassy I’ve felt yet,all the lovely wee faces-such a nice thing to look forward to and hopefully bring some much needed cheer to the end of this year.
Shed a few tears at this. Have a wonderful Christmas.
Holothane · 23/12/2020 14:01

These story’s are wonderful I’m so excited about them.

sheslittlebutfierce · 23/12/2020 14:13

I made something for my mum for her craft room. Knowing my mum she will love it.

rottiemum88 · 23/12/2020 14:27

Nespresso machine for DH. He's pretty good at sussing put what I've got him but I'm confident he's got no clue this year and he's really wanted one for ages. I also won't be at all sad to see the back of our incredibly loud and annoying bean to cup machine!

niki26 · 23/12/2020 15:07

This is such a lovely thread. The gay pride rucksack and lady who wrote due date on photo calendar gave me a proper lump in my throat!

Deadringer · 23/12/2020 15:54

It cost almost nothing but i got a mug with photos of our very elderly dog on it for dd, he isn't likely to live very long into the new year so hope it will be a nice momento for her.

user1471565182 · 23/12/2020 16:03

@Wowthisisreal They're bloody brilliant, I could talk about them for hours. I'll link the one I bought below. You can carry it around in its bag quite easily- you either get specialist hot tents (got mine for £60) or use old canvas tents with a hole for the chimney. They have a hob on top so you can cook and you can get specialist fuel to keep it burning while you sleep

user1471565182 · 23/12/2020 16:04

A lot of people build them out of old Ammo cans for really cheap, but i thought i couldnt really hand that over as a present

HawkinsLab · 25/12/2020 21:09

Would love a follow up on these! How were they received?

Hope everyone was able to have as nice a day as possible Smile
