Is there a particular present you bought for someone this year that you just can’t wait to give them?
And if so what is it and why?

An incredibly soft beautiful soft toy dog that is from Santa. My daughter will scream!

Second best bit, I only went in the shop to drop of my Samaritans shoe box. It's a small local high street shop I had never been in before. This was the only drop off for 30 miles! A small rural northern city.

The dog was only £7.99 It's a keel toy is as big as a toddler and beautiful. I also bought about £30 of other gifts too.

Truly felt like good karma flowing and I had a nice chat with the shop owner. Left feeling very Christmassy and hoping the karma keeps going 😊

A sylvanian families dolls house for my 2yo DD. I think she will scream with excitement

CorianderQueen · 17/12/2020 23:11

A gold necklace for my mum with something on that she associates with her mum who died in November 2019.

I can't be with her when she opens it, but I know she will cry.

I’ve brought my brother a Tile, and I’m sorry I won’t be there to give it in person. For once I think he’ll actually be impressed!

Dementedswan · 17/12/2020 23:13

A 1940s hunting jacket in mint condition for dh. A ps 5 for oldest son... he's resigned himself to not getting one as they are like gold dust. My youngest is going to be so pleased with his personalised football. Comfort set for my bff hot choc set, bed socks and bath set. She has a condition where she is in pain most days. I've bought all the family lockdown 2020 baubles as we can't be together .

PrincessConsuelaBH · 17/12/2020 23:14

@SendHelp30 I think I've got something in my eye... 🥲 hope your little boy loves his gift and gets lots of enjoyment from it!

These spoons and spatulas I’ve bought for my mum and sister, they’re from my kids to them. I was bought some by a friend and they just make me smile every time I use them and I know they have the same effect on their recipients.

@PrincessConsuelaBH thank you so much. Have a lovely Christmas.

Got my hubby a one hour microlight flying lesson that will be a fantastic surprise! He's had a couple of helicopter flights so this is one step further!

MonkeyPuddle · 17/12/2020 23:28

@jerrywesterby

From this website, don’t know if they’d get to you before Christmas though now?

A while ago I took a picture of my ds and my dad sitting on some rocks opposite each other talking. they look really engaged in a big and meaningful conversation. They've really bonded of late (ds 2.5, think dad feels more able to engage than when he was a baby) and I've got the picture blown up on a canvas for dad. I'm really pleased with how it came out Smile

ILoveAnOwl · 17/12/2020 23:32

I've got my Dad something he asked for about two years ago and it's taken me this long to track it down. It's a joint hobby between him and my son and I can't wait for my son to give it to him. I've also made my sister a pom pom wreath and it's turned out better than I'd hoped so excited about that.

Having spent all my prep time with zero inspiration... I have last-minute overspent just on one present for DP - a philips perfect drink machine, with 3 extra kegs...
had to BS my way out of buying more beer for christmas day!

He has no idea, he likes beer and enjoys a pint or two..he is aware it is a joint birthday (january) and Christmas present (with other smaller bits to open...
I despise joint presents but thanks to spending what I had alloscated before seeing this... I didnt have a lot of choice!

Hopefully he likes it 😳

Other than that, pyjamas with my own cartoon design on for DSD, and a sonic plush for DSS (last minute obsession!)

ZombiePara · 17/12/2020 23:42

Also, well done OP - what a lovely thread to read through!!

SendHelp30 · 17/12/2020 23:45

@ZombiePara oh wow where would one find this incredible device? My DH would love this 😂

SoggyBiscuitss · 17/12/2020 23:53

I love all your replies. And also some good ideas I’d never thought of!
Hope you all have a very good Christmas 🎄

I paid for a professional artist to draw a portrait (copied from a photograph) of my mother in law embracing her baby son. He died quite recently at a young age so I think she might cry when she sees it, I did.

megletthesecond · 18/12/2020 08:41

12yo DD is getting a pestle and mortar. I dread to think what she'll end up mixing.

CatVsChristmasTree · 18/12/2020 08:42

A box of fancy chili sauces for DH, made by someone he is friends with on Facebook who sent him a bottle a few years ago. He love dit but could never justify £8 on a bottle of sauce! They guy does a load of different ones now and I bought one of each. He will be delighted.

BeerHawk!
I managed to nab a starter kit - the actual machine, a keg and 2 glasses! The. Bought an extra 3 kegs....

I was impressed though - you can return the kegs and you get credits to use in the shop!
Just beware the boxes - a lot bigger than I expected (I dont know why I didnt think they would be big..) and they are branded boxes so no hiding what's in them!

IamMaz · 18/12/2020 09:13

A clapperboard for £5 off GumTree for my 28-year old DS!!!
Long story but it'll be BRILLIANT!!!!!!
Smile

Stillfunny · 18/12/2020 09:31

Got a picture of our dog printed on a pillowcase for DD. I know she will love it and not expecting it.

SendHelp30 · 18/12/2020 09:43

@ZombiePara brilliant, thanks!

heidipi · 18/12/2020 14:31

7yo DD has wanted one of those travel pillows that go round your neck for ages Grin, I found a memory foam one in TKMaxx for a fiver - it will amuse me no end when she 'wears' it all of Xmas day!
