Is there a particular present you bought for someone this year that you just can’t wait to give them?
And if so what is it and why?

@Thankssomuch

dimpous Bloom and Wild is my friend’s daughter’s company - I’ll let her know she’s getting recommendations here! Lovely!
Please say a massive thank you from me and my mum as well - mum is super impressed with them and they are now her go-to.

She sent me some the other week, and they lasted amazingly! Great flowers, tasteful grouping and impeccable customer service!

My daughter has a very secial designer handbag.Totally do not do designer anything in our house as I despise showing off and the bloody outrageous prices they charge but we were out on our pandemic allowed walk in the summer and she saw a lady with this bag..she couldnt speak my dd and said it was the most beautiful bag she had ever seen ..odd reaction to a random object but there you go. I made her walk on and asked the lady quietly to tell me abouther lovely bag which she did and days later my dd was still talking about this pretty bag I told her who made it and she looked them up on their website. Then proclaimed she knew how expensive they were and how we would never ever be able to afford one of those and she really didnt want one anymore ..well after a shit year and a bit of extra me time with dad (wasnt too bad really I quite enjoyed that bit!) The bag is wrapped up under the tree and she has no idea! I am happy I went with it although we all cold have had a family holiday for the same price! She is worth it and I love her to bits so we will see what happens but I have a feeling its going to go down really well! I am a bloody idiot really for doing this it goes against most of my moral code but 2020 has been an exceptionally crap year so I made an exceptionally crap decision...not to be repeated!!!! She is going to be in shock when she unwraps it and well hey ho!!!!!!!!

It’s a very simple one for me really, I can’t wait to give my nephew his gift, DS chose it and put so much thought into it. I think he got it exactly right (I am hoping) and my nephew will be delighted.

Terfterf · 19/12/2020 13:03

My DS17's new custom blanket which I had made by a British company called TooManyTshirts - one side is made of all his old football/basketball/school leavers shirts and it's backed with soft fleece. Absolutely gorgeous, practical and a nice memory thing. So nice that I think I'll do one for myself with old band t shirts!

Grimbot · 19/12/2020 13:23

Also showing some love for Bloom and Wild @Dimpous. I didn’t realise until recently they also have a French site which made it super easy to order some flowers for my 89 year old grandmother in France who will be alone for Christmas for the first time in her life. I ordered them to be delivered today and she was so happy to receive them and know we were thinking of her.

I’ve also just ordered myself some happy spoons, they look so cute!

HemlockStarglimmer · 19/12/2020 16:13

Socks and oven gloves for my husband. All his socks are falling apart, as are the oven gloves. He is the main cook.
It's been a bit depressing Christmas shopping this year as we are pretty broke.

Perihell · 19/12/2020 17:27

@EssentialHummus

A book of sex positions for DH, at his request!
That book he wants is not the only present he’s after😉
BearSoFair · 19/12/2020 17:42

Copic markers for 13yo DD. She's always been into her art and looks after her supplies and Copics are well known to be the best markers. But she knows they're also very expensive compared to other brands and has never asked for them beyond occasional comments about how good they must be and it'd be cool to try them one day. It's only a small set of skin tone ones to start her off but she won't be expecting them at all.

ChristmasBubbles · 19/12/2020 17:49

I’ve got my 16yo DS an Xbox series S. He had it on his list but I doubt he ever expected to get it, as at £250 it’s a lot more than I’d usually spend, plus it has been so hard to get hold of as well, out of stock everywhere until I was lucky one morning!

He’s had a crappy year with one thing and another (covid included, naturally Xmas Hmm) and I really hope he is pleased with it Smile

permanentlyexhaustedpigeon · 19/12/2020 18:54

This is outing, but I'm most excited for my DD to give our pet chickens some chicken toys she found through the Hen Welfare Trust. We're planning to wrap them in lettuce leaves so they have something to unwrap: Grin a bit of unadulterated joy in a frankly miserable time for all of us (they're cooped up because of the avian flu exclusion zone and understandably not keen).

Pandapooks · 19/12/2020 19:20

Not exactly a present for Christmas but we will be telling our kids that we are getting a much wanted puppy in January. We are wrapping up a couple of puppy related presents to break the news.
Every time I think about it I hug myself with excitement

Butternutsqoosh · 19/12/2020 19:37

I've got my DH a lordship title ... he acts like Lord of the Manor anyway so it might as well be official! He'll love it and probably use it all the time 😂

Holothane · 19/12/2020 23:16

Some wonderful presents for me it’s the bag of surprises for dh, he knows a couple he picked a t shirt and tried on the Rangers jumper, his coat he had before Christmas but the shirt, a rangers t shirt, mask, step one underwear he knows nothing about, he wants another tattoo at some stage so I’ll save for that.

TheChosenTwo · 20/12/2020 00:01

@ZombiePara I bought one of these for dh last Christmas. Unfortunately, he also bought himself one just before Christmas too! But he was so happy because now he can have 2 different beers on tap at once Grin so it worked out for the best I guess!
They’re good though, there’s a few beers they do that I quite like and we think it will be great when we’re allowed to see other humans again and maybe even have a party or something with more than just us Grin

ShrimpSymphonyofSeasonalSongs · 20/12/2020 00:07

A portrait of our favourite cat for DH. I think he loves him more me Hmm

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 20/12/2020 00:11

I can see that my 12 year old dd has been looking at a gay pride backpack on amazon but she would never ask us for it so I've bought it and put in it a load of accessories with the pride rainbow on. I hope she will know that it's ok, we know and she doesn't need to come out to us or anything.

giggly · 20/12/2020 00:21

My df a calendar of my dc artwork which he will love, he is the most supportive and gracious gfStar supply them with their SN.
Also got exdh a T-shirt with dc artwork on it, he will also love that.
Youngest dc wanted a new phone but accepted that they would get money towards buying one but I’ve taken a new contract and they will squeal with excitement. Can’t wait

giggly · 20/12/2020 00:23

@Thehogfatherstolemycurry that is beautiful

Holothane · 20/12/2020 01:03

Those rainbow rucksacks some of them are gorgeous wonderful idea, she’ll love it and loads of bits as well.❤️❤️😊

Mykittensaremyfriends · 20/12/2020 10:12

@Nutrigrainygoodness have you tried a local florist to see if they can do the monthly flower subscription for you? Small businesses have had to adapt to keep going and I'm sure they would do it for you as a few near us set it up after the first lockdown Thanks

peaceanddove · 20/12/2020 10:40

Large floor standing mirror for DD with an ornate silvered frame. She fell in love with it in an interiors shop back in the Summer, but we told her it was too big & too expensive. She'll be over the moon. I've even bought a huge red velvet bow and ribbon to decorate it ☺️

NotEnoughTime · 20/12/2020 17:51

This thread is sooo lovely. Some beautiful ideas on here.

I'm very much looking forward to giving my DS tickets to the Gone Wild Festival next Summer, my DH will be going with him (not that he knows it yet so it will be a Christmas present for him too).

I think my DS will really enjoy it. He loves Bear Grylls and Steve Backshall so he will be very happy to see them in real life :)

NotEnoughTime · 20/12/2020 17:54

SanFranBear

This is gorgeous. Can you tell me where you had this done please as I would like one of our DD (Darling Dog) for my DS to put in his university room.

Oooh that's great to hear! I feel more relieved to hear from someone not trying to sell it that they're good 😅

TheChosenTwo · 21/12/2020 13:45

Yes @ZombiePara - they’re actually really good. And beer hawk give you £5 back per keg if you return them.
Dh initially said it was a bit faffy but now we just wait until we have a load that need sending back in one go and get a decent amount off then next order.
It’s great, we usually have one pump in the shed (pool table and dart board in there so a sociable space, dh and his friends spend quite a lot of time down there although obviously haven’t done for a while!) and one in the kitchen. It’s great for parties and the barrels are so easy to change. We have a fridge in the shed too so keep the barrels in there so it doesn’t take ages for them to cool down in the machine before you can drink from it. Enjoy!
