Is there a particular present you bought for someone this year that you just can’t wait to give them?
And if so what is it and why?

Metal detector for my 6yo and stick man teddy for 2yo!

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 19/12/2020 08:02

A Percy pig baking kit for my 9 year old DD and some blinking suoerzings for my 7 year old DS

AmIAWeed · 19/12/2020 08:08

Walkie talkies for niece and nephew - will drive my sister mad, but I've given the kids 4 envelopes with instructions which starts boring: charge them - the last one is go to the kitchen and ask Mummy and Daddy if they would like a beer.
Hopefully I'll be forgiven for the very annoying toy!!

FleeceNavidadToEwe · 19/12/2020 08:09

A childhood favourite book for my DSIS - she’s had no luck searching for it in our parents but I’ve managed to find a used copy which I hope is the same edition.

Thankssomuch · 19/12/2020 08:14

dimpous Bloom and Wild is my friend’s daughter’s company - I’ll let her know she’s getting recommendations here! Lovely!

BalaamsAss · 19/12/2020 08:19

I’m not sure we have any really stand out wow main presents this year. I think everyone will really like their gifts and they will be well used, but I don’t think any of them will be ones that are talked about for years to come.

One small gift which I think will raise the best laugh though, and which I think will be genuinely treasured is this. DS (15) has a habit of asking for very random things for Christmas as a joke because he can’t actually think of anything he wants. (including a little engine Hmm so his sisters have bought him a Thomas the tank engine DVD called “Santa’s Little Engine” Grin)

This year he repeatedly asked for an inflatable man like they have at car dealerships for our new front garden. (We just moved house a few weeks ago)HmmHmmHmm

I found this online and he will absolutely love it and I have no doubt that it will go with him to university when he leaves home in 2 years time as a treasured possession! Little weirdo that he is! Grin

Another vote for Bloom and Wild. The flowers are beautiful. I buy a subscription for my mum every year and it's by far her favourite gift! Their Christmas themed flowers are really special

FixItUpChappie · 19/12/2020 08:36

Oh the kids will love the baby yoda's they got - that should be fun Xmas Smile

Vinosaurus · 19/12/2020 09:05

A skateboard for 12 yr old DD - she's had a Penny Board for years but time for the real thing, she's talked of nothing else for weeks (how she'll customise it, what moves she'll be able to learn now).

SoggyBiscuitss · 19/12/2020 09:15

Ooh this was nice to see loads more replies.

I feel like you should all come back on Boxing Day with an update!

@Asiama

For FIL, a calendar with photos of DS every month (at his request). He will find out he's going to become a grandad again when he sees that we have written the due date on the calendar.
I love this! 😀

Will he flick through the calendar on the day to see all the pics or want them to be a surprise? If it's the latter, how many months will he have to wait to find out? Haha. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

jay55 · 19/12/2020 09:50

A big bag of pick n mix for my sister. She's had a rubbish year, and I hope a self indulgent fun treat will be a good pick me up.

farnworth · 19/12/2020 09:58

Great thread thanks.
Just seen that shark and wondering who on earth I can get it for now.....
And am all set to get lots of happy spoons as random extra presents.

Have managed this year, thanks to fabulous ideas on here, (huge thanks), to get lots of gifts for family that I am very excited about 😁. However the gift I am most pleased with this year are the presents I got my very ill dad to give my mum on Christmas Day. He is practically bed-bound and hadn’t thought of it as not really thinking ahead at all. He was so delighted when I showed him what I got her. They are now wrapped and hidden. She won’t be expecting anything from him this year so double happiness.

catsareme14 · 19/12/2020 10:08

@monkeypuzzle I absolutely need these spoons in my life !!!! Where are they from ?

A toy for my 2 year old niece, I suspect she'll be more interested in the box than the toy, but she's so sweet and excitable that I can't wait to watch her open it.

nosswith · 19/12/2020 10:28

A desk calendar for my mum which has photos all taken by me. I have done this for several years and my mum is very grateful, just interested in what conversations we will have about the photos.

Cornishmumofone · 19/12/2020 10:32

A second hand bike for my 4 year old. She's outgrown her existing bike. She hasn't asked for a new bike, (she's asked for a real life rainbowy unicorn that flies), but I saw one I could afford that was an hour or so drive away, so I went to get it yesterday. I think she'll be really excited.
