What’s with massive pants?

Ok so turning 50. I wear pants. Never thongs, see through knickers at the weekends but normally just back or white normal cotton bikini pants.

What’s going to happen that means I need “massive” pants?

I’m scared. I can do periods, piles and white pubic hair but pretty worried by the dark secrecy around massive pants. Just tell me....

I don't really understand what you mean. Dark secrets and the fear of a full brief?

You might change your mind about what's comfortable as you get older...? Err, not sure what else you're looking for.

Thistles24 · 04/12/2020 21:00

If you find them comfy, I’d stick with them. I wear massive pants, bought for post c-section 10 years ago. I have a massive, wobbly stomach and high waisted pants make me look and feel more streamlined. Also, bikini style sit right on my scar and I hate the feeling of that.

nildesparandum · 04/12/2020 21:09

@Thistles24

I am with you here.My last of two caesarean sections was 48 years ago.
I have the longitudinal classical scar which goes from just below my belly button to just above the pubic line.My stomach is a mess still.Even in my young days when I was a size 6 I had to wear waist high pants because anything below the waist touched the scar, and it still feels the same way now and I am 76.
OP, you are not alone.

I wear high waisted knickers to keep my post baby tummy tucked in Smile

Thewinterofdiscontent · 04/12/2020 21:13

LubaLuca in another thread on AIBU it seems everyone has agreed on massive pants as the pant of choice. Bridget Jones and massive pants, just a generally theme that that’s where we are all headed. My mum wears massive pants now (70’s) never used to. She not fat, no scars.

I was confused. Why. WTF happens

There is nothing more comfy than big pants, nothing!

Thewinterofdiscontent · 04/12/2020 21:15

I don’t wear them! I just want to know why people go from normal sized pants to huge ones.

My pants are huuuge - and I care not a jot!

Holothane · 04/12/2020 21:17

I’ve worn big knickers for years decades in fact more comfy.

umberellaonesie · 04/12/2020 21:17

I have always worn full briefs. Bought some when I had my son at 19 for post birth pads and never went back.
They are comfortable, warm, no vol, flattering.
Not an age thing very much a comfort thing

Scumble · 04/12/2020 21:20

Oh yes, am 42 and have been wearing massive pants for about 15 years. I bought a supermarket pack in a pants emergency one time and never looked back. They were a comfort revelation Grin

Diverseduvet · 04/12/2020 21:21

I like having a bit at the back to pull up and cover my builders bum when I crawl around the floor in my skinnys

OddBoots · 04/12/2020 21:22

Maybe try them and see, but it is a comfort thing really.

DimidDavilby · 04/12/2020 21:22

They cover my post baby tummy so it can't come sneaking out over my jeans.

MumsDirtyTeaTowel · 04/12/2020 21:25

I'm 38. until my early thirties I wore mostly men's boxers. Whether I've been thin or large, they've covered my butt and been comfortable. I was never one for showing off bits of my body but have always found trousers slip down and I want to be covered. I went on to discover the 'full briefs' and asides from being a bit thin and not lasting forever, they cover me sufficiently. It's also a sensory nightmare not to be able to have them sufficiently cover my derriere.

theinternetmakesmyeyesfeelsick · 04/12/2020 21:25

I bought some by mistake but realised they suit my shape and they sit really well on my waist (once I'd got over the thought that it's all downhill from here)

CoffeeSTAT · 04/12/2020 21:26

I've worn big pants since my first c section aged 31. Not just the big 'full brief' style but also at least one, if not two, dress sizes bigger than my actual size. And only black. I just like them.

I've occasionally tried normal bikini style or French knickers or whatever but they are so uncomfortable. Not an age thing, just a choice. I also think they look quite nice but I may be deluding myself Blush

I've also not work jeans or fitted trousers since then! I wore them everyday before the DC were born.

RayOfSunshine2013 · 04/12/2020 21:27

Being fat and pregnant. When I’m not fat, I wear nice things/Brazilian lace knickers. Now I am fat, it’s massive comfy knickers Blush

Iggly · 04/12/2020 21:27

I started wearing big pants in my thirties after the kids.

I bought a shed load after babies and then just stuck with them. Simple as that

EvilEdna1 · 04/12/2020 21:28

Less VPL.

Pipandmum · 04/12/2020 21:31

They are not 'huge'. They are the same as yours but longer line. A size 6 knicker is a size 6 whether it's a thong, bikini, midi or full brief. It's a different style, not size.

ShalomToYouJackie · 04/12/2020 21:33

You wear see through knickers at the weekend?!

VenusClapTrap · 04/12/2020 21:43

My grandma used to call them ‘Harvest Festivals’. All is safely gathered in.
