The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

sashh · 30/11/2020 11:32

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

Morning All.

It's been a long night so I'm just putting out jam / marmalade, Florence has baked baguettes so you have something to put it on. Fernando is making Mate, complete with gourds and straws.

Hope all is ok @sashh?

I'm yet to get breakfast 😂 so toast and marmalade would be great. Was hoping to get to the garden centre but DS was not convinced, we are now napping. Guess yesterday was too much excitement for him. We saw the hungry caterpillar at london zoo.

sashh · 01/06/2021 06:23

Morning all.

Shirred eggs are on the menu for today, just because I discovered them yesterday, obviously there will be toast and other egg dishes are available.

Florence has made some quiches for anyone wanting to picnic later.

Morning all.

Looks at the weather, takes a coffee into the garden and gives F and F a day off.

Nice, will grab some cool drinks and let DS paddle

sashh · 03/06/2021 07:26

Morning all.

F and F are off again today but have helpfully made up picnic baskets and flasks.

I'm going to take one in to the garden and watch the kitten bees.

Morning all.

I'm leaving you in the capable hands of F and F while I go make suffragette ribbons and make them into post cards

Morning, been. Busy few days but would love a smoothie and a sit by the water.

Hoping everyone else is enjoying the sun?

sashh · 07/06/2021 03:36

Morning all.

Well it is too warm for me but F and F are making fruit based breakfasts so smoothies and fruit salads. fruity icecream and a cheeky orange gin

crazycatlady7 · 10/06/2021 07:13

Morning, it's been quiet recently. Will grab some smoothies and head to outside so DS can splash about.

Hoping everyone is ok just enjoying the sun?

sashh · 11/06/2021 06:18

Morning all.

Sorry I have not been opening the cafe as much but you can always order from F and F or help yourself if I'm ot here.

F and F are doing the usual fruit smoothies and I'm cooking the duck egg as featured on 'The great British Menu'

Morning, we had an early start (4.30) but I went back to bed with a migraine. Managed to get dressed and DS is asleep again. So happy to sit outside watching the animals with a strawberry smoothie.

sashh · 12/06/2021 08:31

It's a little cooler today so F and F are making hot drinks and I'll make pancakes.

crazycatlady7 · 14/06/2021 06:43

Morning can I grab a smoothie? Off to work today and dreading the heat but I am WFH today so could work from here.

How was everyone's weekend?

MinnieMountain · 14/06/2021 07:02

Morning all

Coffee and yoghurt for me please.

It’s looking hot again. I’m not working so I will be sitting by the fountain.

We scattered DM’s ashes on Saturday. It was a beautiful day in the Malverns.

Stay cool @crazycatlady7.

sashh · 15/06/2021 06:31

Morning all.

It looks like it's going to be warm so lets have a Dutch / German type breakfast that can be packed up for lunch later if you like.

Salami, various hams, sliced cheeses and hard boiled eggs.

A variety of breads including crusty rolls and the devil's fats itself, pumpernickel.

What a night, did anyone get the storm? We just got rain and a grumpy DS who was up 12.30-3.30. We feel exhausted now.

Will get the tea and coffee going.

MrsRussell · 17/06/2021 10:22

Morning all - Cattermole as was, had a cat-related laptop incident and lost my login.
No storm here overnight although I think it may have rained at some point.... the cat's ears were wet when he got in bed with me.
Could do with a bit of a hand-hold this morning as the Junior Engineer has gone on a school Outward Bound trip. I remember him being a baby, 11 years ago, and now he's a great lolloping youth with a baseball cap and a ponytail, off doing coasteering in his last year at primary school. Where did that time go??

MinnieMountain · 17/06/2021 14:11

It rained with us but thunderstorms rarely wake me up anyway.

I have a grumpy cat as DH and I are off to the Lake District for the weekend. At least the little blighter’s abscess has healed. I’m sure 10 yo cats are too old to fight.

I’m sure the Junior Engineer will have a brilliant time.

Our babies do grow up so fast. Mine’s moving up to Junior school in September, which is a different school.

crazycatlady7 · 18/06/2021 11:02

Please don't tell me they grown so fast. I'm struggling DS is 20 months 😭😭

@MrsRussell I hope Junior Engineer has a great time.

@MinnieMountain have a lovely weekend. I do hope you get good weather. I'm off to Sussex's to visit the in laws and I can't think what I need to pack for DS. They have nothing so need to pack everything we may need for him. I don't even know if they have snacks suitable for him so packing them too I think. 🤦🏼‍♀️ DH of course is doing nothing to help. Would be lovely to stay at home to be honest.

MrsRussell · 18/06/2021 12:15

He had a lovely time, so thanks all. Very tired this morning but in a good way!
Still a bit sad but ... hakuna matata, innit? As they say in the films...

Frownette · 21/06/2021 10:27

Oi, @sashh, I did watch Ladykillers in the end. Fantastic. Alec Guinness's knashers were a sight to behold and I loved the 'old lady' and the knucklehead who started calling her mum :)

sashh · 27/06/2021 06:37

Morning all.

@Frownette I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Well I think we need a bit of fresh air so Fernando is prepping the BBQ / outside planchet for breakfast sandwiches of bacon, egg, sausages etc.

Florence is making muffins and the kitten bees are exploring a new outside house I've got for them.

The water feature is back complete with splashy bits for small children.

Hi,

It's been a busy week. We went out on the boats yesterday and back home today- DH and DS are out. So I can enjoy a drink in peace before they return

Hope you are all ok

sashh · 01/08/2021 09:00

Morning all.

Welcome to the renamed White Rode Cafe and happy Yorkshire day.

As it is Yorkshire day the fare on offer is pork pies, Yorkshire puddings, parkin, rhubarb, pomfret cakes and the kitten bees have dressed as mini flying Yorkshire terriers
