The happy place cafe 2 - advent opening

Thanks to a couple of really nice PMs the cafe is reopening until and including Xmas.

For the regulars

The kitten bees are inside for winter, please watch out for them getting stuck in jam.

F and F seem to be slightly more than friends.

The water feature has become an ice rink.

To anyone new:

This virtual cafe is a covid free zone. There are a number of seats / sofas / wing back chairs.

It opened in the first lockdown, it is an escape from isolating, home ed, mask wearing. It is a happy place, it is the opposite of AIBU.

A different breakfast is served every day and sometime packing up to take to work.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Dogs and children are welcome. Babies can be handed over to regulars to give you a break and we also have cots for them to sleep.

Outside is a cat amusement area with catnip bush and toys.

Kitten bees are kittens the size of bees with wings and their tails can transform into tiny umbrellas.

Morning all.

Well my exciting news is that Sainsbury's are due to deliver between 06:56 and 07:56 and Iceland are due to deliver between 08.00 and 10.00 what are the odds they turn up at the same time (they did last time).

So on to breakfast.

Florence has made Normandie Apple Pie and Fernando has made some spiced cider and some calvados cocktails.

Coffee and tea available obviously.

Well if they do turn up at the same time it makes your life easier 😂

Ooo apple pie please. It was my lay in today but I was awake when DS woke so having a lazy morning. He slept through again after two awful nights. 🎉🎉🎉 think it was exhaustion rather than the norm

Sainsbury's have been, still waiting for Iceland. I think it could be the basis of a new video game.

In a bonus they didn't have salmon trimmings so I have some nice salmon and some lovely crusty bread.

Well in an IRL link get ready for some smoked salmon with scrambled egg, eggs, benedict and bagels with salmon and cream cheese. I think some nice Turkish coffee will go well with that and some green tea.

Sounds amazing! I've been up for 90mins and just got DS back in his cot- but now need to be up in 15mins for work 😢

DH and I have just had a lovely weekend in Bristol. We went to the pub and ate out lots.

I feel the need for fruit so I'm making fruit salads.

Florence is making cakes / buns with fruit so raisin muffins, apticot pastries etc. Fernando is making fruit mocktails but I think he will add some Vodka if you feel the need.

Today is the last rainy day forecast for us for a bit. I’m holding the Met Office to that.

It's another grey day here so I'm making fish breakfasts, kippers, kedgeree, smoked salmon and some Japanese grilled FISH.

I know fish for breakfast isn't for everyone, certainly not Florence who has gone off in a huff to bake croissants , please feel free to seek her out,

Fernando insists Japanese hotels serve beer with breakfast so he has a selection of Belgian fruit beers as well as the usual tea and coffee.

Well I'm getting my nails done later this morning, it is the one place I go to out of the house.

I get my second vaccine soon but I'm still not sure about going out.

Evening. My day started at 5am!

It's our anniversary today so we had a nice very early morning with us all snuggled in bed reading cards (worked the middle) and off out for dinner once DS is in his bed.

@crazycatlady7 ok so it is a day late but I'm opening the champagne, you can have it as a bucks fizz if you prefer.

I think blinis will go well with the fizz so I'll get Florence on to making them, choose your own toppings.

@MinnieMountain I think we all over run some days- I did 8- 5.30 yesterday and didn't manage to get a break. I'm now on leave until 7th 🎉🎉🎉 and going to have to work today to tidy up some bits.

The sun is out so hoping DS will have a play in the park after his music class this morning

We have not had a fry up for a while and with all this working, swimming and looking after children it sounds like we need it.

Sausages - Cumberland, Lincolnshire and pork and pepper (local butcher does these)
Bacon - back obviously but a choice of smoked or 'green'
Eggs - chicken or duck
Fried bread
Beans
tomatoes
black pudding
mushrooms
hash browns

followed by toast and jam (watch out for kitten bees)

I love black pudding in a fried breakfast. Everything for me please- scrambled hen’s egg and Cumberland sausage.

Can the kitten bees have a little bit of jam or would they get too sticky?

We’re off on holiday to the sea today

Fry up would be good minus the black pudding but prob not wise before swimming.

The weather is so lovely and looks great for half term. So I'm excited to be able to plan being outside all day! 🎉🎉🎉

I saw Atomic Shrimp on YouTube make a vegan black pudding that actually looked good.

Well I have been up most of the night for no apparent reason so breakfast needs to be simple. Fruit, yoghurt, hard boiled eggs, ham and bread.

We were up a few times. Boiled eggs sounds good and tempted to do them myself IRL.... we have a few with the chickens.
