BettyMumsnet · 13/10/2020 07:18

Hi everyone

Amazon Prime Day is up and running - albeit a few months later than originally planned.

If you’ve not heard of it before, Prime ‘Day’ (two days in reality) is when Amazon offers Prime members exclusive discounts on all sorts of products - from tech to toys and kitchenware to clothes.

We know that not everyone is a fan of Amazon, but if you’re on the hunt for bargains this is the thread for you! We’ve put some of our favourite deals in this post, and if you let us know if you’re on the lookout for anything, in particular, we’ll see what we can find for you - and let us know on the thread if you spy any stellar discounts!

And if you want even more great deals, sign up to our Money Saver email here.

Here’s our pick of the bunch so far. Don’t forget, Prime Day lasts throughout Wednesday too, so pop back tomorrow morning for brand new discounts.

Save £40 on the Kindle Paperwhite, now £79.99

Nintendo Switch Neon (Red/Blue) + BioShock: The Collection + Borderlands Legendary Collection £299.99, was £365.99

Tarquin's Cornish The Seadog Navy Gin, 70 cl £29.90, was £41.60

Hauck Viper SLX Trio Set 3 Wheel Pushchair up to 25 kg + Group 0 Car Seat + Carrycot 59% off, now £142.95

You do need to be a Prime member to take part. Prime plans cost £79 for a year, or £7.99 a month. There's a 30-day free trial (sign up here) if you don’t want to commit to membership but want to take advantage of the great deals.

If you don’t want to pay for Prime after your free trial has ended, you can follow our handy guide on how to cancel Prime.

FYI, if you recommend deals on the thread, we might add a link into your post if we think it would be helpful to other users.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

PS If Prime Day’s not your cup of tea, don’t forget that Black Friday is just around the corner and we’re poised to bring you the best offers on the day. Make sure you check out our pages which will be rounding up the best deals on baby products and mattresses, and great offers from Boden, Lovehoney and Cottages.com.

If anyone still wears UGGs these days, they are massively reduced. From around 50 quid to anything as low as £18.91 depending on colour.

EndlessWaffle · 14/10/2020 13:33

To clarify: that's CHILDRENS UGGs 🤦‍♀️

SaraMumsnet · 14/10/2020 13:39

Hi there @Sodamncold , sorry for the lack of link to the T&Cs in the OP - we have rectified now! And you can click through here to see them too.

To clarify, we receive a commission fee on Amazon purchases a Mumsnet user makes after clicking through to the site from the product links. So if someone clicks through from the link in the above post to the Celebrations box (for example), and buys that plus a pair of headphones that come up as a recommended item, we'd receive commission on both those purchases. If they didn't buy the Celebrations but saw the headphones and just bought those, we'd get commission on the headphones.

Hope that makes things clearer!

The disco ball for my dh backfired as a surprise. I didn't realise his phone is linked to the amazon account and it sent him a notification it was being delivered today. I've told him to forget all about it :-)

Maidofdishonour · 14/10/2020 14:07

This is my first time doing this and I am struggling. I am trying to order the Ring doorbell which is on offer for £129 but if ordered through Alexa should be £109. Alexa says it will be put in my basket but when I check my basket the price is £179 with only £20 discount applied
Can anyone advise please?

quarentini · 14/10/2020 14:57

@Maidofdishonour have you got a prime account?

Maidofdishonour · 14/10/2020 15:04

I have a prime account and the deal comes up with the reduced price but reverts to original price (less £20) if I order through Alexa.

fedupathome · 14/10/2020 15:24

What does an echo dot do is it a speaker?

ajandjjmum · 14/10/2020 15:27

Really fed up that I missed the Kenwood KVC5100S £299.99 price yesterday. DH mentioned it, and I've checked and it's £375 today - told him he'd mis-remembered, only to find it on a MN post earlier in this thread. Fed up of hearing 'told you so'!!!

Runningdownthathill · 14/10/2020 15:41

Ive ordered an Echo but the sound isn't all that loud. Can anyone recommend a speaker that will work with it? I'm not that tech savvy.

Maidofdishonour · 14/10/2020 15:42

I might have worked it out - so to get the deal though Alexa, I have to actually say ‘buy it now’ rather than checkout through the basket?

Maidofdishonour · 14/10/2020 15:47

Crap. Didn’t work, plus Alexa put two devices in the basket at full price.
I’m giving up!

SpaceOP · 14/10/2020 16:37

@Runningdownthathill I think most speakers that have bluetooth will work with the echo. You just have to tell Alexa to connect. we've never bothered as we find the echo okay and if we need loud for a party or whatever we hook up directly to big speakers that DH has.

@Maidofdishonour my stuff was all appearing as full price in my basket but then when you looked at the checkout summary, the discount was applied in total.

SpaceOP · 14/10/2020 16:38

Also, did you get an echo or the dot? The echo is better sound than the dot. We use dots in bedrooms and have the echo in the kitchen.
TheOneTheOnlyPedroPony · 14/10/2020 16:38

Because Alexa hates me and only likes DH I've now accidentally added a ring doorbell to DHs basket whilst trying to see what price it comes up at Grin

Hobbes8 · 14/10/2020 18:25

@EndlessWaffle do you have any links for the childrens Uggs? I can’t find anything less that £110!

@Hobbes8 I was just coming on to ask @EndlessWaffle the same thing. DTs are desperate for new uggs but I refuse to pay anything even close to full price for them.

EndlessWaffle · 14/10/2020 19:54

@XFPW et al
Re the children's UGGs
I searched "Ugg" and ticked the box on the left to filter down to only the Prime Day Deals, on the desktop version, not on Amazon app.
Hope that helps

Can you make all links to smile.amazon.co.uk so members can raise money for their chosen charity instead of just amazon.co.uk?

ghd original hair straighteners £73.99 from £109.00

pooeylouie · 14/10/2020 22:17

Ring doorbell 3 plus is on a bundle offer with the echo show 5 for £129.99 total.

diamond4u · 15/10/2020 01:31

Echo dot works with Alexa, Alexa is the app you download on to your smart phone, connect the echo via the app. You can then use the echo to play music, set alarms, calendar, weather, ask Alexa whatever you want really. If you have more than one echo dot, you can use it like a intercom (drop in) to speak through it to the next room where you have placed the dot.
My kids go crazy asking Alexa all sorts 😂
I love the drop in feature

A lot of people I see complain that the echo dot isn't loud enough, honestly for me I find it's quite loud, I have the volume lowered as it's otherwise too loud
