Amazon Prime Day 2020: find deals here

BettyMumsnet · 13/10/2020 07:18

Hi everyone

Amazon Prime Day is up and running - albeit a few months later than originally planned.

If you’ve not heard of it before, Prime ‘Day’ (two days in reality) is when Amazon offers Prime members exclusive discounts on all sorts of products - from tech to toys and kitchenware to clothes.

We know that not everyone is a fan of Amazon, but if you’re on the hunt for bargains this is the thread for you! We’ve put some of our favourite deals in this post, and if you let us know if you’re on the lookout for anything, in particular, we’ll see what we can find for you - and let us know on the thread if you spy any stellar discounts!

And if you want even more great deals, sign up to our Money Saver email here.

Here’s our pick of the bunch so far. Don’t forget, Prime Day lasts throughout Wednesday too, so pop back tomorrow morning for brand new discounts.

Save £40 on the Kindle Paperwhite, now £79.99

Nintendo Switch Neon (Red/Blue) + BioShock: The Collection + Borderlands Legendary Collection £299.99, was £365.99

Allotment Month By Month: Grow your Own Fruit and Vegetables was £17.99, now £9.20)

Anker Wireless Headphones £15.99, was £25.99

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush £89.99, was £299.00

£40 off the Shark Cordless Handheld £89.99

Tarquin's Cornish The Seadog Navy Gin, 70 cl £29.90, was £41.60

Hauck Viper SLX Trio Set 3 Wheel Pushchair up to 25 kg + Group 0 Car Seat + Carrycot 59% off, now £142.95

Philips Lumea Prestige IPL Cordless Hair Removal Device £299.99, was £475

Reishunger Digital Mini Rice Cooker and Steamer £72.99, was £149.99

Finish All-in-One Max Dishwasher Tablets, ORIGINAL, 110 Tablets £10.99, was £28

50% off VANKYO MatrixPad Z1 Kids Tablet now £39.99

You do need to be a Prime member to take part. Prime plans cost £79 for a year, or £7.99 a month. There's a 30-day free trial (sign up here) if you don’t want to commit to membership but want to take advantage of the great deals.

If you don’t want to pay for Prime after your free trial has ended, you can follow our handy guide on how to cancel Prime.

FYI, if you recommend deals on the thread, we might add a link into your post if we think it would be helpful to other users.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

PS If Prime Day’s not your cup of tea, don’t forget that Black Friday is just around the corner and we’re poised to bring you the best offers on the day. Make sure you check out our pages which will be rounding up the best deals on baby products and mattresses, and great offers from Boden, Lovehoney and Cottages.com.

@TokyoSushi I’m going in for a disco light too. Didn’t think we needed one until I saw your post!

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 13/10/2020 17:02

Hotel Chocolat deals on as well

middleager · 13/10/2020 17:03

I think I'll be listening to Spotify on the speakers rather than Amazon music. I don't really know the difference though in packages.

Just bought hair clippers. So today tthat equals:

2 Amazon Echo Dots (£3 a month each)
Some LED lights controlled by said dots
Clippers

When I bought the clippers I noticed this was on a lightning deal for 6 hours only. I wonder if this is why the Lego price changed? I added to my basket this morning but just now it increased. Lesson learned - do not procrastinate!

Me neither! But then when you think about it, for £6, who doesn't need a disco light?! Grin

Yeah, they do a lot of lightning deals, but depending on what device you're on I suppose it could be easy to miss. There will be a countdown saying how long the price will be held for, and then often it will say percentage sold. When I got my dot it had about two hours remaking with 80% sold. The deal finishes whenever one of them runs out first.
Whatwaswrongwiththatusername · 13/10/2020 17:18
@felineflutter you don't have to use Amazon music unlimited. There's quite a lot of music on the non subscription version (Amazon music) or you can set them to use Spotify or something. We have never paid any extra for music.
I've never used Amazon Music either. We've had dots for a few years now but I've only ever used Spotify to stream music, usually through my phone to Alexa and then Alexa connects to one - or all - of the Bluetooth speakers. The dots themselves aren't great as music speakers, so in each room there's one that connects to a Bluetooth speaker and I have set it up to play on just one, or different groups - ie just the kitchen, or downstairs, or all.

CodenameApollo · 13/10/2020 17:20

i've found something i ordered yesterday thats now £35 cheaper, so i have re ordered and will return the first one

middleager · 13/10/2020 17:39

In addition to the two dots I've bought the Echo Show 8 with an internal Ring camera - it's £14 for both a month. So with the Echos that's £20 a month for 5 months.

This pandemic has made me realise how much I need the luxuries of Audible, Spotify, Prime etc. I may have gone a bit Corona crazy, that and the easy pay installments...

guestofhonour · 13/10/2020 17:45

I do and I absolutely LOVE it. I have the cordless one with two batteries - game changer

guestofhonour · 13/10/2020 17:46
@felineflutter what tb did you go for? I'm pondering about buying a new one.

Also looking at the shark pet upright vacuum cleaner...anyone have one? It's the corded one
I do and I absolutely love love love it. Got the cordless one with two batteries - game changer

midclegs101 · 13/10/2020 17:48

I'm after a bread maker - if anyone sees one please @ me!

FrankiesKnuckle · 13/10/2020 17:50

A lot of the 'big' Barbie stuff on offer.
The aeroplane is £60 (and currently in my basket)

Rockbird · 13/10/2020 17:54

That's annoying. I put a ring doorbell in my basket earlier then deleted it as I wasn't convinced about it. Changed my mind to try to add it back and it's now telling me I've already claimed the deal Angry

BettyMumsnet · 13/10/2020 18:01

Just a few more suggestions before we sign out for the evening!

25% off Ciroc Vodka, Malfy and PLymouth Gins Gin

Tassimo Costa Americano Coffee Pods (80 servings) £15.96 (was £19.95)

SIMREX X300C Mini Drone with Camera £32.99 (was £49)

Up to 30% off Levi's

Mamas & Papas Baby Playmat (Wish Upon A Cloud) £46.88 (was £62.50)

We'll be back tomorrow with some more deals for you Grin

Shame the annual Prime membership is not on offer - I know it is cheaper than monthly but last July it was on offer for £59 on Prime Day

Oh that is annoying @Rockbird. Might it work if you tried in incognito?

@spiderlight

Thank you *@BettyMumsnet*! I'd forgotten I had a £10 prime day voucher, so I've just got that headset for my son for 99p! Grin
How did you get the Prime Day voucher??
QuiteGood · 13/10/2020 19:23

This a huge thread on the Eufy Robovac from devoted parents on here. This is a pretty fab deal.

www.amazon.co.uk/BoostIQ-Connected-Super-Thin-Self-Charging-Medium-Pile/dp/B07R5R7XF6?ref_=ast_sto_dp&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I have one and love it. It's truly fantastic.

SpaceOP · 13/10/2020 19:53

I just bought the smaller Eufy that's on deal for £125. I am so excited. Been wanting one for ages. Better be good though as Dh has been seriously dubious!

I got some Alexa lightbulbs as well on the deal. Looking forward to having softer, dimmable lights in the bedroom!

We are toying with the nintendo switch but would rather wait a bit. do you think we should just buy it now?

eternalopt · 13/10/2020 20:00

And go through amazon smile and you give to charity whilst shopping. Get to amazon via smile.amazon.co.uk and choose your charity or use it via the amazon app following these instructions www.amazon.co.uk/b?ie=UTF8&node=17337655031

Springcatkin · 13/10/2020 20:12

If anyone comes across a good deal on a foot spa please let me know. I used a foot peel over the summer and now want to keep my feet soft and warm

jrek · 13/10/2020 20:30

Have seen a couple of drones on amazon- anyone have any experience of them for kids? They've lost a few already so don't want to spend much!

QuiteGood · 13/10/2020 20:41

My experience of drones via the kids is that they are crap unless you spend a lot and by a lot, I mean a lot. I remember my eldest buying a £100 one and watching it fly away and never come back.

SpaceOP my eufy is currently hoovering my kitchen whilst I'm chilling out on my bed upstairs. It really is good plus it has a remote, so you can use it like an RC car and make it go where you want.

jrek · 13/10/2020 21:47

Thanks Quitegood! Might have to just buy a cheap one so to keep them happy and let them lose!

SospanFrangipan · 13/10/2020 22:12
@middleager I have bought ones for DC's bedrooms the are great speakers. The only thing I just found out is that it will cost me £14.99 per month for Amazon Music Unlimited! It seems Prime covers one device and you then can't then buy 2 single device subscriptions at £3.99 per month.
£9.99 for unlimited music 👍
