BettyMumsnet · 13/10/2020 07:18

Hi everyone

Amazon Prime Day is up and running - albeit a few months later than originally planned.

If you’ve not heard of it before, Prime ‘Day’ (two days in reality) is when Amazon offers Prime members exclusive discounts on all sorts of products - from tech to toys and kitchenware to clothes.

We know that not everyone is a fan of Amazon, but if you’re on the hunt for bargains this is the thread for you! We’ve put some of our favourite deals in this post, and if you let us know if you’re on the lookout for anything, in particular, we’ll see what we can find for you - and let us know on the thread if you spy any stellar discounts!

And if you want even more great deals, sign up to our Money Saver email here.

Here’s our pick of the bunch so far. Don’t forget, Prime Day lasts throughout Wednesday too, so pop back tomorrow morning for brand new discounts.

Save £40 on the Kindle Paperwhite, now £79.99

Nintendo Switch Neon (Red/Blue) + BioShock: The Collection + Borderlands Legendary Collection £299.99, was £365.99

Anker Wireless Headphones £15.99, was £25.99

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush £89.99, was £299.00

Tarquin's Cornish The Seadog Navy Gin, 70 cl £29.90, was £41.60

Hauck Viper SLX Trio Set 3 Wheel Pushchair up to 25 kg + Group 0 Car Seat + Carrycot 59% off, now £142.95

Philips Lumea Prestige IPL Cordless Hair Removal Device £299.99, was £475

Reishunger Digital Mini Rice Cooker and Steamer £72.99, was £149.99

Finish All-in-One Max Dishwasher Tablets, ORIGINAL, 110 Tablets £10.99, was £28

50% off VANKYO MatrixPad Z1 Kids Tablet now £39.99

You do need to be a Prime member to take part. Prime plans cost £79 for a year, or £7.99 a month. There's a 30-day free trial (sign up here) if you don’t want to commit to membership but want to take advantage of the great deals.

If you don’t want to pay for Prime after your free trial has ended, you can follow our handy guide on how to cancel Prime.

FYI, if you recommend deals on the thread, we might add a link into your post if we think it would be helpful to other users.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

PS If Prime Day’s not your cup of tea, don’t forget that Black Friday is just around the corner and we’re poised to bring you the best offers on the day. Make sure you check out our pages which will be rounding up the best deals on baby products and mattresses, and great offers from Boden, Lovehoney and Cottages.com.

Also considering the screen version as I have a Ring doorbell. I think it's called the Echo Show 5. Any good?

Ooh what's that? Maybe best I don't know! Grin

whatever1980 · 13/10/2020 13:35

@Horehound I've got the shark anti hair wrap and it's really good and powerful.

Had one issue with it about 8 months in when bottom half stopped working but amazon changed it with no issue.

blackcatgingercat · 13/10/2020 13:37

Echo show 5 is great. My dd uses it for spelling as it comes up on the screen :)

Looking for a good coffee machine which does not use pods

Whatwaswrongwiththatusername · 13/10/2020 15:26

@Carriemac

Alexa smartplug 9:99 if you order using your Alexa - should be £24:99
Thanks for that tip! Have just ordered myself one through Alexa as well - a handy £15 off. Shame you can't buy more than one.

If anyone comes across a smart extension lead that has more than 4 (individually controlled) sockets plus at least 4 usb sockets, preferably with a long cable, please point me in the right direction, thank you ☺️ I've been looking for a suitable one for ages now but can't seem to find one with more than 4 sockets (ideally I'd need 6), or the lead is too short etc.

Hi @Runningdownthathill

This Sage The Barista Express Machine is down to £399.99 from £549.99 - realise that may well be a bit on the pricey side. Will keep eyes peeled for an alternative!

Whatwaswrongwiththatusername · 13/10/2020 15:42

I have just been told that you can also get an Amazon smart plug for £10 instead of £24.99 when you buy an Alexa device - www.amazon.co.uk/Echo-Dot-3rd-Gen-Charcoal/dp/B07PJV3JPR
I had already bought another dot for £18.99 earlier today but didn't notice the offers (there are others besides the plugs I think), but that's ok, I saved a whole 1p by ordering through Alexa 😁

Jobseeker19 · 13/10/2020 15:51

Has anyone seen a stand mixer please?

Has anybody seen an external hard drive for the xbox one please? DS isn't updating some of his games because of space.

curlyLJ · 13/10/2020 16:23

@felineflutter you don't have to use Amazon music unlimited. There's quite a lot of music on the non subscription version (Amazon music) or you can set them to use Spotify or something. We have never paid any extra for music.

notapizzaeater · 13/10/2020 16:43

@Hotwaterbottlelove

I really need a heated blanket. Not the sort you out under the bedsheet. Just the sort you use on top of you while sat in a freezing room trying to work. Failing that heated foot pad or slippers!
Aldi have these in every year, come with a three year warranty. We love ours
gower4 · 13/10/2020 16:44

I really want a nuface facial exerciser. Has anyone seen them on sale anywhere?

middleager · 13/10/2020 16:49
@middleager I have bought ones for DC's bedrooms the are great speakers. The only thing I just found out is that it will cost me £14.99 per month for Amazon Music Unlimited! It seems Prime covers one device and you then can't then buy 2 single device subscriptions at £3.99 per month.
Ordered two thanks!

On another note, this morning I added a Lego set to the basket to think about. There was £20 off..just went back in and it was saying full price, 2 left.
If I'd known the deal wouldn't stand a few hours later, I'd have bought it this morning!

You need a family subscription, give you 5 or 6 accounts

missblueeyes · 13/10/2020 16:50
