Do you believe in astrology?
What's your primal triad?
Sun-
Moon-

Gosh, I didn’t think people still believed in astrology. That’s surprising. And also slightly depressing.

It's a bit like discovering that Nick from Accounts is an alchemist and is trying to turn Coke cans into gold in his garage, or that Bev from down the road believes her high blood pressure is from an excess of yellow bile.

As a Sagittarius I should be trusting, but Nick melted down my baked beans tin promising me gold to clear my rent debt I’ve found I’m better off sticking to leeches to treat my mental health.

It might not be scientific but so far I have earned a bit of money following the advice that was out there where people had looked at the leader of the parties horoscopes for the day of the election.
And warning about a liar who would have cost me several thousand in the last few months.

No. I believe in science!

TooTrueToBeGood · 09/10/2020 18:31

@Peace92

Science is small minded!! Doesn't think out side the box. Why does everything have to be explained or have the evidence to back.
That is one of the most ridiculous statement I've ever read.
sanityisamyth · 09/10/2020 18:32

@Peace92

It would be interesting to hear peoples perspective on religion also.

I believe in God as much as I believe in astrology ... 🐮 💩

Oliversmumsarmy · 10/10/2020 10:25

What science gives you a personality profile and can tell you when is the optimum time to do certain things, warn you things could get rocky or tell you which areas of the world you would be most suited to.

Like I said I could do families chart which did sound correct. But my own just wasn’t me and any forecasts just weren’t right.
Then I discovered that my birth certificate is wrong and so was my time of birth.

Now I feel when I look at the transits that I have some insight into the future.

Astrology isn’t predicting on a certain date this will happen or that will occur, it is more about how you feel or if you want to move house then around this time it will be the most opportune or if you are feeling like you are beating your head against a brick wall and all your efforts to move on seem to get hampered then wait a few months and try again and things should be a lot easier

People still have free will and it doesn’t stop you selling your home and moving or doing whatever you like but it just points to what could be the easier time to do certain things.

lazylinguist · 10/10/2020 10:44

but it just points to what could be the easier time to do certain things.

How does it? By what means do you think the stars bring about their influence on things which happen in your life? Is there actually an answer to that beyond "I don't know - it just sounds like a nice idea and (gullible) people have believed in it for donkey's years"?

Oliversmumsarmy · 10/10/2020 10:53

lazylinguist

No idea but it seems to work.

If it is good enough for the President of the US during a time when America was doing well then I don’t see anything wrong with it.

All I can say is if it is gullible then as gullible has earned and saved me thousands I will continue to be gullible.

clumsyv · 10/10/2020 11:07

I believe in it and all my friendships and marriage are compatible with my star sign, i get on better. I don't believe in the daily ones but believe in general astrology.

thedancingbear · 10/10/2020 11:11

Lol at the posters saying people who don’t believe in astrology lack understanding

TeenPlusTwenties · 10/10/2020 12:11

To me, astrology is neither a science (evidence, theories, experiments, tests) nor a religion (faith based).

It appears to be pseudo science and I class it alongside homeopathy. ie there is no evidence or scientific background, but the proponents of it try to say there is. I think it is disingenuous and a way to extract money from the gullible.

DillonPanthersTexas · 10/10/2020 12:44

I just find it utterly baffling that people actually use astrology to influence their life decisions.

Pertella · 10/10/2020 14:14

@Pertella

At what point of birth is your personality fixed?
Anyone?

Ok, so no proof or even explanation or ideas of why it would possibly work? A president of the US (which one?) believed in it, and you credit that for America 'doing well' at that time?! And it has saved you thousands of pounds - well, obviously that's not provable, because you can't know exactly what would have happened if you hadn't followed what your horoscope said.

Tbh if anything, that post made astrology sound less convincing than I already thought it was!

Hang on, you're justifying an unevidenced pseudoscience because Ronald Reagan believed in it? That would be the president whose economic policies created a wider wealth gap, massively increased homelessness, and whose own son says he detected signs of his father's Alzheimer's disease when he was still president?

Seriously?

lazylinguist · 10/10/2020 15:26

GrandAltogether - but... but... he was POTUS! The US president is always a very wise and intelligent person who leads the country based on rational and sensible beliefs and would never make decisions or pronouncements based on pseudoscience and stuff he 'reckons' is true! Oh hang on...

TooTrueToBeGood · 10/10/2020 15:35

Ironically, if they are daft enough to believe in astrology they are probably better letting it guide their decisions than relying on the power of their own minds.

Thread reminded me of this Grin (particularly the Shakespeare quote)

I’m 100% Virgo personality wise- depressingly. It’s nonsense but enjoyable nonsense.

BeaverTail · 10/10/2020 18:40

Astrology is the biggest load if shite going. Shame on any adult taken in by it.

If the President told you to inject bleach, would you do that too?

lakesidewinter · 10/10/2020 23:04

I think the poster was referring to R Regan who used astrology.

Qyw16 · 10/10/2020 23:13

Dont believe everything you are told.
You know only what you have been proggrammed to believe, if they don't want you to see something they will show you something different.Maybe in another hundred odd years it wont be unexplainable anymore.Thats if another scamdemic doesn't come along to distract you. There is so much we still dont know about this world !! If you know you know.
