I can't sleep and was just wondering why other people would be awake at this hour

OP posts:
avamiah · 02/10/2020 01:46

I’m awake because my mum is 83 and lives with us and she often shouts out at this time .

Bunnymumy · 02/10/2020 01:47

Thinking to audition for an acting course and trying to choose a soliloquy. Got sidetracked watching a victor meldrew monologue from one foot in the grave and attempting to learn it. Not sure if it would count as a soliloquy...but surely they'd appreciate it over yet another hamlet, right? XD

crazycatlady7 · 02/10/2020 01:47

I'm up feeding the baby who's not falling back into a deep sleep so still rocking him hoping he will.

Finfintytint · 02/10/2020 01:48

Traditional shift working insomniac! Also in the middle of a house move and flitting between of thinking about that things that need doing and things I can’t influence.

TinyGarden · 02/10/2020 01:49

I couldn't blinking sleep so just got up to do some work for a deadline I have to meet. So glad I'm not the only one up, I might make some tea and toast first Smile

Canklesforankles · 02/10/2020 01:51

Dog barked so I went downstairs to discover dog sick all over rug Envy

It’s been cleaned up and carpet sprayed but now I’m wide awake.

I love a bit of Victor Meldrew but I don’t run a drama school Grin

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 02/10/2020 01:51

ShellsAndSunrises · 02/10/2020 01:53

I’m in Barbados and it’s only just about to go 9pm... new husband is almost asleep; so I’m checking out mumsnet!

thatsamazing · 02/10/2020 01:53

I'm always up at this time. Proper night owl. Anyone else?
Mornings are a killer.

motherofdxughters · 02/10/2020 01:54

The baby is two and has decided bedtimes are like long naps so from 7-12 she'll sleep and from 12-1:45am ish she'll be awake because she thinks she's missing out. I've just got her back down to bed and I'm laying in bed too awake to sleep. I'll have a scroll through for half an hour or so until my body gives out.

Bunnymumy · 02/10/2020 01:57

@thatsamazing

Mornings should be outlawed lol. Never trust a moring person xD

Mind you if I get up early I might find it easier to channel my inner miserable bastard when practicing my victor meldrew.

YukoandHiro · 02/10/2020 01:57

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and my 3yo has just decided to start vomiting everywhere.

Excellent timing.

😖

MarshmallowsOnToast · 02/10/2020 02:00

Just made a bottle of formula for baby but he has decided to go back to sleep. Now waiting for him to stir so I can grab him. 🙈

Never wake a sleeping baby.. 😬

Bloodybridget · 02/10/2020 02:01

I'm almost always awake around this time of night. No particular reason, it's just what happens. I'm in some discomfort having had lung surgery on Monday, and am starting to wonder how long I can expect the pain to continue. But at least I'm not having to deal with wakeful babies or dog sick!

Bloodybridget · 02/10/2020 02:02

Oh @Bunnymumy good luck with the audition!

FourPlasticRings · 02/10/2020 02:02

40 weeks pregnant and woke up in the grips of a strong cramp. Couldn't get back to sleep so decided to time them- so far it's not looking promising. Sad Now been down for a banana and some toast and feeling wide awake.

YukoandHiro · 02/10/2020 02:05

@MarshmallowsOnToast Oh if you've made the bottle, wake him and feed him - otherwise you'll be awake twice and twice as long!
I bf'd my now toddler but if I woke before she did I used to just pick her up and latch her on in the hope I'd get a longer sleep after. It often worked

YukoandHiro · 02/10/2020 02:07

Ooh good luck @FourPlasticRings - hope it turns into something.

I had that for two days last weekend at 37 weeks. Cramps/braxton hicks every 5-10 mins for two days.

Sadly, I'm still here incredibly pregnant. And extremely tired.

DeeDimer · 02/10/2020 02:08

Just home after a twilight A&E shift. A hot cup of chocolate Ovaltine (I know how to live) and hopefully some sleep.

CampfireZen · 02/10/2020 02:08

Morning, all.
Awake due to really bad chronic pain bout earlier. Easing a little now, but sleep evading me...

@Bunnymumy, wish we could watch your Victor Meldrew practice run!

Surely choosing that over the standard audition pieces, demonstrates a bit of lateral thinking and originality: I'd imagine both an asset in acting?

Light relief's bound to appeal to any jaded audition panel...
Smile
Wish you well with it, anyway.

FourPlasticRings · 02/10/2020 02:09

Thanks @YukoandHiro. Nothing now for half an hour so I think I'm going to call it and try and sleep (tough though as my left hip is killing me from lying on it all night thus far!) Hope you get some sleep and that your little one gets a wiggle on soon. I'll be back later if anything changes (which I doubt).

CalmRedSea · 02/10/2020 02:10

Just finished a conversation with DD 13 about the kitten going in for neutering and how he won’t be allowed to go out for a couple of days as he won’t be able to climb. We got silly and it dissolved into a giggle about cats needing bollocks to aid climbing like suction pads.

Ajl46 · 02/10/2020 02:11

Me too! Good luck with yours! Smile
CalmRedSea · 02/10/2020 02:13

OP any reason you can’t sleep?

FlippinNoah · 02/10/2020 02:17

Just finished editing a music video that my class did today for Harvest.

My alarm will go off in 4 hours - and I'm on Mumsnet why?!
