I can't sleep and was just wondering why other people would be awake at this hour

OP posts:
Bridget1979 · 02/10/2020 05:18

Husband left for work at 4,30am and woke me up. Currently concocting a plan on how to get to the kitchen to make a cup of tea without waking the dog up.

marriednotdead · 02/10/2020 05:53

DP woke me as he left for work at 5am. Listening to the rain. Will go back to sleep soon hopefully and then get berated by my sisters on our WhatsApp group when I don’t wake up til after 9am, all in good humour.
Had anxiety added to my permanent low level depression for the first time this year alongside a fibromyalgia diagnosis so sleep is often patchy and non restful. God knows how I’ll cope when I go back to work in a couple of weeks!

marriednotdead · 02/10/2020 05:55

Happy birthday! @giggly Cake

Kolsch · 02/10/2020 06:20

The dog woke me by talking to me at my bedroom door when my husband left for work.
Not a whine but like a 'Owawuwawowu' noise.
Loosely translated to ' look human, I know I'm going to go straight back to sleep but get your arse out of bed so you can sit looking daft'
So now I'm sat looking daft.

CampfireZen · 02/10/2020 06:31

Happy birthday, @giggly.

EarringsandLipstick · 02/10/2020 06:43

Sending good wishes to all who'd poor sleep last night. It's Friday so hopefully everyone can catch up on rest over the weekend 😴😴😴

To those due a baby soon, hoping you'll have exciting news soon!

YukoandHiro · 02/10/2020 07:43

How is everyone doing this morning?

Dd woke at 7 saying she feels fine and wanting breakfast so hoping the puking incident was just something she ate disagreeing with her rather than a hideous nursery bug that she's about to pass to me.

Didn't get much more sleep as I was cramping all night. Really hoping to get this baby out next week latest and avoid induction!

YukoandHiro · 02/10/2020 07:45

Congrats @Bettyboop82 - Hope feeding is going well x

YukoandHiro · 02/10/2020 08:00

Oh @Shangrilalala that's stressful. Your poor DD. I'm sure just keeping in daily contact with you is very reassuring. Has she managed to get a test? Hopefully it's just bog standard fresher's flu. I hope you find a way to work out what's best for her to do Thanks

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 02/10/2020 08:03

I should have come on here , I was up every couple of hours peeing and feeling nauseous. Not pregnant sadly, just peri menopausal Hmm

aproblemsharedisaprobleminhalf · 02/10/2020 08:10

@CalmRedSea

OP any reason you can’t sleep?
I eventually got to sleep about 3:30, I'm lucky enough to be an overthinker Confused and 5 hours later I'm awake with crippling back pain, wonderful!

What a lovely thread. All (night) life is here.

Pregnancy, labour?, babies, sick kids and pets, travel or living somewhere sunny, work, anxiety, painful ankles, illness, menopause, noisy DHs/pets.

I ending up sleeping on sofa with my daft old whippet who after being sick multiple times kept barking little barks for no reason. I may just have set myself up for more night time whippet waking!

CampfireZen · 02/10/2020 09:01

This seems apt for most of us...
(hope everyone's sleep-deprived day turns out easier than anticipated)

To ask why you're awake
RandomMess · 02/10/2020 09:45

Lifelong insomniac drives me crazy. Slightest bit of stress and anxiety and/or hormones.

Sad

Only good thing about WFH was sometimes sleeping in a bit but now the DC are back at school they are up anyway!!!

Needallthesleep · 02/10/2020 10:23

@YukoandHiro oh amazing news, you must be so relieved. I’m 38 weeks pregnant and one of my biggest fears is my toddler bringing home a sickness bug when we have the newborn here. Hope the rest of your pregnancy is nice and relaxed!

Bunnymumy · 02/10/2020 11:40
I’m awake because the dog woke me up needing a wee and a poo.

@Bunnymumy
These are good tips for choosing a monologue. I think it’s risky choosing something from a tv show you watched rather than a script. You could end up just copying rather than creating. I get you’re not supposed to know how to do it all atm. But an audition shouldn’t be an impression. www.theatrebayarea.org/news/185679/10-Tips-for-Choosing-Your-Audition-Monologue.htm
Thanks @mummyoflittledragon
Lots to think on there it looks like.
I'll sit down with it properly after breakfast.

I was thinking of doing a reimagining of mercutios death using just his prior quotes. But it might tell me not to do that too xD

I'll have to think on it.

I didnt sleep till gone half 4 :( lol

Mummyoflittledragon · 02/10/2020 12:31

Good luck Bunny - there’s plenty of info online anyway.

Op if you contact your gp they can refer you to the sleep clinic for studies, melatonin etc. If ur over 50 your gp can prescribe melatonin.

Mummyoflittledragon · 02/10/2020 12:35

BM
Oh and in answer to your point you’re making your life awfully hard for yourself by thinking about choosing a dialogue of a male and reconstructing.

YukoandHiro · 02/10/2020 18:28

Me too @Needallthesleep - I know one friend who wasn't allowed to leave hospital for ages after birth as while she'd been in her older children had come down with a d+v bug. How on Earth do you keep your distance to protect the newborn when all your toddler will want is mum?
Really hoping we don't face that particular hell. We only returned dd to nursery a month ago and what with covid cases rising my nerves are shot! She's been fine all day today though....
Nearly there now! Good luck with your birth and hope we both get more sleep tonight x

CampfireZen · 03/10/2020 01:48

Oh God, anyone else awake again?
2nd night running of insomnia. Grr.

Last night was pain-related; tonight for no reason other than overactive mind refusing to quieten.
(Well, that, and the seemingly never-ending barrage of Trump/Covid coverage across entire media..not conducive to calming mindset).

Relaxation/guided imagery audios disappointingly ineffective this week.

Anyway, for any fellow non-sleepers needing a joyful, 100% uplifting, cheerful distraction from this week's doom and gloom, I offer you a 30 second clip of a sheep discovering bouncing on a ground-level trampoline is pretty good fun!

CalmRedSea · 03/10/2020 01:56

Hi @CampfireZen I‘m awake again just finished chatting with DD. It has been raining all day and night here. Ive opened the window slightly and the noise is making me sleepy.

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/10/2020 01:58

Just finished cleaning the kitchen, while having a drink or 2.

DramaAlpaca · 03/10/2020 01:59

I'm awake, but I usually am at this hour. Classic nightowl, me.

Loving the sheep Grin

CampfireZen · 03/10/2020 02:00

Hi @CalmRedSea, good idea. Trying that now. Here's to rain sounds sending us both off to deep sleep.
