Crack on, as you were, need a lie down and a bit of cosseting after the non stop thrill ride of the last thread. Just take it slow, ok?

(But that’s way too exciting for this thread)

I’m finishing work early today which is an unexpected treat. Also due to Covid, my business is down so from
next week I’m only working 2.5 days a week. I was worried but now I’m looking forward to it & Intend to fully embrace it whilst the kids are in school as I suspect it won’t be long until one of them is sent home due to their bubble having to isolate.

QuestionableMouse · 08/09/2020 15:07

@TawnyPippit

Do we get one kitten this coming Saturday, or go for a sibling pair available first week in November. Decisions decisions.
Get all three. It's the only way.

@WouldBeGood I feel for you. I accidentally flashed my postman in similar circumstances.

forgetthehousework · 08/09/2020 15:20

Both the cars have passed their mots - technically we didn't have to bother what with this 6 month extension the government gave, but a mechanic friend said some insurance companies were being 'difficult', particularly with older cars, and looking for reasons to not pay because the vehicle 'wasn't in a roadworthy condition' and 'hadn't been checked by a mechanic in more than a year'.

So we decided to be safe.

DS’s school have decided that children can wear jogging bottoms as their PE kit (good, as they have to wear their kit all day). This means I have even more things to sew name labels into.

I can safely say that the novelty of labelling uniform has worn off now.

userxx · 08/09/2020 15:45

I’m just using warm soapy water (washing up liquid) and a microfibre cloth.

Perfect, I'll give it a go.

Spudlet · 08/09/2020 16:26

I’ve just realised that when DS’s uniform order arrives, I’m going to be one name label short. Argh!

Ninkanink · 08/09/2020 17:05

Tomorrow is recycling day. In a minute I’m going to separate all the rubbish into the relevant bin/crate/bucket.

Somanysocks · 08/09/2020 17:11

I currently have four vases of flowers in the house, I never normally have any so they have been like buses.

Mollypolly2610 · 08/09/2020 17:30

Went to see my neighbor and saw that someone’s dog has done a massive shit on my drive.

awesomeaircraft · 08/09/2020 17:33

I have found DD2's lost watch under her pillow when changing the sheets.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/09/2020 17:37

Just home from work - DH decided to cook sth. I am calmly but ravenously waiting.

awesomeaircraft · 08/09/2020 17:39

Oh, and I found £10 on the road. Should I give it to charity or buy lottery tickets (and win big and drop £10 on the road for the next person to keep the cycle going?).
I hate finding money because I know somewhere there is someone who is kicking themselves for losing it, or worse, someone is accused of having stolen it.

boatyardblues · 08/09/2020 18:13

@WouldBeGood

After packing it carefully, DS forgot his PE kit. I had to do a mercy dash in the car to meet him. Bed hair, bare legs and granny glasses.

To add to the excitement they were starting to tar my road, so I had to be back before i was trapped away from my house and thus do a walk of shame in aforesaid ensemble.

This post ^ is far too action-packed and full of breathless excitement for this thread. Wink Actual stuff is happening!

With both kids back at school at the same time for the first time since March, DH and I had our first meal a deux since March - homemade soup, out in the garden accompanied by light drizzle/rain and birdsong. That’s how rock ‘n’ roll our pandemic WFH lives are, though writing this post made me realise we could sneak out for lunch at the local café.

boatyardblues · 08/09/2020 18:16

How could I have forgotten this? My tomato plants have finally produced a (single) flower. Hmm If a tomato follows, the first frost is guaranteed to get it before it ripens.

purrswhileheeats · 08/09/2020 18:27

I had two Alans in my shop at the same time today.

BurtonHouse · 08/09/2020 18:38

Purrs, you win!
I had to change my top at lunchtime as it got unexpectedly warmer.
The boy next door keeps kicking his football against our adjoining fence and the sound is a bit irritating.

purrswhileheeats · 08/09/2020 18:47

@burtonHouse one was an Alan, the other an Allan. Both wearing khaki shorts.

CMOTDibbler · 08/09/2020 18:55

We cleaned the chickens out after work. Well, dh and I did - ds walked around with his youngest chicken on his shoulder pretending she was a falcon

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/09/2020 19:00

We were visited my a tiny tiny mouse on our 5th floor terrace.
DD took a foto and then it went on its way. It was sitting on the table where my borage plants used to live.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 3: The saga continues
Spudlet · 08/09/2020 19:00

DS is trying to delay bedtime. He has managed to stall at various stages of the process, and is now rolling out the final big guns by asking DH for extra cuddles and saying ‘I love you Daddy, I love you too Daddy’ over and over again. Cunning but cute Grin

0blio · 08/09/2020 19:07

I inserted a hyperlink into a Teams invite and am now wondering if the link will work tomorrow...

You have reminded me I too have a Teams meeting tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

Lazysundayafternoons · 08/09/2020 19:18

I need to open a large word doc for work to make a few updates. The file has been loading for 2 hours and still isnt open yet Confused

Your doomed tomato has made me feel rather melancholy.

I wore my new boots for the first school run of the term, but the weather was too warm and my feet got a bit hot.

QuestionableMouse · 08/09/2020 19:59

I finally got my arse in gear and did some writing.

Also submitted four short stories to various places which is more anxiety inducing than boring sorry 😂😂
