Do you like it? I haven’t got one and have always felt slightly deprived!

OP posts:
nosswith · 29/08/2020 20:00

I'm OK with mine.

My mum does not have one and I think feels the same as you, OP.

PaperMonster · 29/08/2020 20:02

I have none either.

happymummy12345 · 29/08/2020 20:02

I don't have one but I have a hyphenated first name (though I know how much they are hated on here for some reason). Has never bothered me at all.

SidesteppinTheRona · 29/08/2020 20:02

I don't have one either!

They're pretty pointless when you think about it, but because everyone else (or most people, at least) has one, I do feel a little deprived.

thewhitechair · 29/08/2020 20:04

I was born at the beginning of the 90’s so Louise, the same as 90% of other women my age Grin

WhatamessIgotinto · 29/08/2020 20:04

I don't have one, nor does DH and our children don't either.

WhenTheDragonsCame · 29/08/2020 20:05

Mine is Ann. When I was growing up I used to tell everyone it was Anne because the E obviously made it so much cooler 😎 now I'm not that fussed about it either way.

Twizbe · 29/08/2020 20:05

Mine is my mum and grandfather's first name. I'm not a huge fan of it (though it's become quite popular recently for boys) I like having that connection to mum though.

My daughter has my name as a middle name

MondeoFan · 29/08/2020 20:05

I have one and it's super common if you were born in 1970's there were lots of girls called it at senior school mid 1980's I'm glad my parents chose my first name rather than the common middle name they gave me. My 2 DC both have unusual middle names

MikeUniformMike · 29/08/2020 20:07

I don't have one, and neither do my DC. My parents don't but my sibling has but it's a filler one. Some of my cousins don't have one.

TheGriffle · 29/08/2020 20:08

I have my nans middle name: Louisa. I love it and love that I have that connection with her.

Dd1 has my mums middle name as her middle name and dd2 has dh’s grandmas name as her middle name.

My only regret is that I didn’t give dd1 2 middle names as I wanted her to have my middle name too but Dh vetoed it and my middle name didn’t go with her first name alone.

Belindabelle · 29/08/2020 20:09

Elizabeth.

I hated it until i was around 17. I now love it and wish it was my name as I would so rock being a Liz or Liv.

If I had a daughter her name was going to be Elizabeth shortened to Eliza.

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 29/08/2020 20:09

Mine is Rose. Very boring. My first name is similarly boring and popular, so much so that there was a girl in my class at secondary school with the same first name and middle name as me!

I was almost three when my brother was born, and got very jealous that he had two middle names and I only had one. DM was confused - what were his two middle names, he only had one. "Alex. Ander." I told her!

x2boys · 29/08/2020 20:09

I don't have one but also have a hyphenated first name it irritates me when people ask me which name I would prefer them to use ,just use the full name 🙄

dementedpixie · 29/08/2020 20:09

I have 2 - Janet and Mary (my 2 grans' names)
My kids have 1 each - Elizabeth (from my side of the family and Kenneth (from dh side of the family). Dh and ds have the same middle name.

Nanalisa60 · 29/08/2020 20:10

Don’t have one!! My mum said she thought that my first name was so different that she had done a great job in finding that, she never bothered finding a middle name..

Lisa was very exotic in1960 , Karen was the most popular girls name in 1960.

Zoflorabore · 29/08/2020 20:10

I don’t like mine at all- Christina. Born 1978.

Backtoschoolnotsoonenough · 29/08/2020 20:11

Mine isn't on my bc but dm used it from me being around 2 and my dgf died. It was his middle name.
My pfb also shares it.
Frances.
She wants to also use it if she has dc..

doublethecuddlestwinmum · 29/08/2020 20:11

Mine is Adelle. No idea where it came from, parents just decided they liked it! Mum wanted it as first name but dad said no it's better as middle. This was 1981!

BrigitsBigKnickers · 29/08/2020 20:12

Don't have one- my parents didn't see the point! Both had middle names which they viewed as an extra thing to write on a form so they didn't bother!

x2boys · 29/08/2020 20:13

My boys both have a middle name ,Ds1 is my Dad's first name and Ds2 is Dh first name ,I only see the point ( in my opinion) in middle names if they are family names

BikeRunSki · 29/08/2020 20:14

I have 2, one very common, traditional babe after my GM; one extremely unusual place name, with non-phonetic spelling. I hated it as a child, and only really made my peace with it after DDad died.

Belindabelle · 29/08/2020 20:14

I hate my name. I was born in 1969 and it is very of its time. Classic names age better.

Spied · 29/08/2020 20:16

Rebecca.
No reason for it. Just a random choice.

homemadecommunistrussia · 29/08/2020 20:16

It's too unusual to post on here, a family name which I don't really like.
Both my cousins have Louise for a middle name! What was going on with Louise in the early eighties?
