Do you like it? I haven’t got one and have always felt slightly deprived!

Mary. My mum's name.

Laska2Meryls · 29/08/2020 21:17

Correct! its Lesley ..
I actually like it ..not many people do it seems..

Monoceros · 29/08/2020 21:18

My middle name is Wanda, in memory of my mum's younger sister who died as a baby. I like my middle name.
My daughter's middle name is my mum's name (Otylia) and my son's middle name is Xavier - no family significance there (he thinks it's super cool and occasionally introduces himself to people by his middle name). I like it how middle names can be a tribute for people who have been significant in our lives.

Mine Kathryn, husband doesn't have one. Eldest daughter Karoline, youngest Fleur.

DeeTractor · 29/08/2020 21:22

Don't have one. Middle names seem to be the subject of much angst and drama on MN which I don't really understand.

(It's annoying though when people ask what my middle name is and don't believe me that I don't have one because "everyone has one")

TawnyPippit · 29/08/2020 21:22

Claire. I think it was actually the law that all girls born in 1964 had to be called that as a first or second name Hmm

DramaAlpaca · 29/08/2020 21:24

I won't tell you as it's the name I always go by. It's also my grandmother's middle name and I love that I have that connection to her.

topcat2014 · 29/08/2020 21:26

Philip. As a child I got carried away with joined up writing and used to add 2 Ls

MondeoFan · 29/08/2020 21:27

@x2boys haha no it's Michelle. But I'm from the South and girls in my year were all called Michelle or Tracey and a lot had Michelle as a middle name - Debbie Michelle, Lisa Michelle etc

ohflourofscotland · 29/08/2020 21:27

Jean here as it's an anagram of Jane as it wasn't as popular 🤷🏼‍♀️
I know a kid that has Batman as a middle name

Charleyhorses · 29/08/2020 21:27

Born in 1968.
Jane
Ann
Louise
Were practically the only middle names available it seems

binkyblinky · 29/08/2020 21:28

My middle name is Clare.

My sons' are ...
Andrew
Edward
Daniel Neal

Topseyt · 29/08/2020 21:30

I'm known by mine. My parents always called me by it right from the day I was born back in 1966.

I like the name, but I find it s complete pain in the arse being known by my middle name. It has been a lifetime of explaining. I wish I had changed them over at around the age of 18, before it became my name on far too many official documents to count

I don't really understand why it was done to me, and if I hear anyone today considering doing it then I really have to bite my tongue to stop myself screaming "Noooo, DON'T" at them.

mrscatmad31 · 29/08/2020 21:31

I have two, my DM name and my DS name. I have given my DDs two middle names too (all family names)

mrscatmad31 · 29/08/2020 21:32

DSister that is

sunnycloudyrainy · 29/08/2020 21:37

Louise Grin early 80s

Linnet · 29/08/2020 21:38

I don’t have a middle name. My mum said she didn’t want to give me and my brother middle names as she had one and never used it.

Cotswoldmama · 29/08/2020 21:40

Anneliese I love it, it's my Omar's name I just wish they hadn't anglicised it and spelt it the German way which is Annelies pronounced Anna-leeza rather than Anna-leeze

RedRiverShore · 29/08/2020 21:42

Mines Susan, born late 50s and very common name then. DH and DS haven’t got one

Rainb0wDrops · 29/08/2020 21:42

Another classic 80s middle name here!

NotEvenTheKing · 29/08/2020 21:43

Nicole. I always preferred it to my first name. But now I like them both. They compliment each other well, I think.

Cotswoldmama · 29/08/2020 21:43

Oma damn auto correct!

hiredandsqueak · 29/08/2020 21:50

Mine is Louise which wasn't common in the 60's I don't think. All my friends had Jane or Anne as middle names. Louise is a nicer name than my first name. Dsis named her dd Louise in my honour.

JustMeG · 29/08/2020 21:54

Another Louise here and 3 DD's with Louise 😂

EggyPegg · 29/08/2020 21:55

@Topseyt

My cousin goes by her middle name. But I'm sure that's because my uncle picked her first name, and my aunt picked her middle name. My aunt was very vocal that that was the name she wanted. My cousin has never been known by her first name ever, so I'm not sure why they haven't just swapped them round (cousin is now 17). They work either way round. The middle name is on trend and is a flower name. The first name is much more uncommon, and I love it for that reason alone.

I went to school with a girl that went by her middle name. None of us had a clue until we were lined up to go in for our SATS and she was called forward by her given name and surname. We all whirled round to see who they were calling!
