Do you like it? I haven’t got one and have always felt slightly deprived!

Krouse64 · 29/08/2020 23:05

I love my middle name better than my first. It’s Johanna after my great grandma

CandyflossKid · 29/08/2020 23:07

Margaret........and I hate it!

LesLavandes · 29/08/2020 23:07

Margaret after my mother. 60's baby. I am fine with it.

Gurufloof · 29/08/2020 23:12

Jane for an aunt I never knew, and because its plain. My first name is very umm exotic. I oddly now live next door to someone with the exact first name as me. Shes the first person I've met with the same first name. And I'm over 50.

rayoflightboy · 29/08/2020 23:12

So can i ask, your mothers maiden name or your pets name.Grin

howlathebees · 29/08/2020 23:13

Ann, it’s my mums and my nans middle name too, I don’t mind it

ZolaGrey · 29/08/2020 23:15

Mine is Jane, which is quite dull, but my mum, sister and I all have it and now it's one of my daughter's middle names as well so I'm a bit more fond of it because of that.

Vinorosso74 · 29/08/2020 23:19

I don't have one and don't really see the point in them. Neither of my parents have them nor does DD. It's not really a thing in my family.

Kettlingur · 29/08/2020 23:20

Heather. Mid-70s.

Bubbletrouble43 · 29/08/2020 23:20

Mary. Yawn.

Angelina82 · 29/08/2020 23:22

My middle name is Maria. I used to hate it, but I don’t mind it so much now. All my kids have middle names, most named after family. I think it’s nice to have an extra name.

Pixilicious · 29/08/2020 23:22

Catherine after my godmother. My daughter has my grandma’s name. Husband downs have one but I think names seem unfinished without one. Even though we never use them ‘in real life’

Ploughingthrough · 29/08/2020 23:23

One of the few 80s girls who didnt get Louise! I love my middle name, it's a beautiful French name but I'm glad I didnt get it for my first name because I dont like its shortened version. I also like my first name so I feel I got lucky in the name department!

NameChange657 · 29/08/2020 23:24

I have no middle name either! Following with interest

heuchterteuchter · 29/08/2020 23:26

mine is the clan name of my dad's family. our surname is a sept of the clan. my grandmother's maiden name. As is tradition, my dad has it as his middle name as do I and when my son was born I named him with the same middle name. Its a 'Mac' name.
in this day and age, I love that this tradition can be passed on. Its not uncommon in this part of scotland.

the only problem is people do think my name is double-barrelled!

OliveHenry · 29/08/2020 23:27

Me and my sister both have the same middle name, as it was the favourite name of the midwife who delivered both of us (at home) 2½ years apart. It caused a few raised eyebrows when we were kids, but actually I really like the fact that we share a name.

A friend of the family liked the idea so she did the same with her son and daughter, with a unisex name.

WooliesPickNMix · 29/08/2020 23:27

Alice, mid-80s. DD has it as her middle name too.

GreenPlum · 29/08/2020 23:35

Isabel. It's grown on me. Born mid 70s. It wasn't that common back then as it is now.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 29/08/2020 23:45

Mine's Jessica, and I seemed to be the only girl in my class whose middle name wasn't Louise or Jane. Born 1979.

Gingaaarghpussy · 29/08/2020 23:56

I have no middle name. Both my kids have middle names. Ds1 has the same one as his grandad, ds2 has his sperm donors name as his.

MountainDweller · 30/08/2020 00:30

I'm known by my middle name and it's unusual so I'm not telling!

HalfBearOtherHalfCat · 30/08/2020 00:39

My parents were apparently extremely lacking in imagination. I got a top 20 first name, and the all time most popular middle name for girls!

My middle name is Marie. I don't dislike it, but its a bit boring.

Liddell · 30/08/2020 00:45

My middle name is Mackintosh, I have a very long first name too. Takes ages to type out my full name!

I would have preferred a girl's name as a middle name, like my sister has.
