Do you like it? I haven’t got one and have always felt slightly deprived!

It's based on this DIY pot noodle but tbh I usually just use spring onions, frozen peas, noodles, marigold powder, marinated tofu and take a little pot of sriracha.

Obviously wrong thread.GrinBlush

I have two middle names, after my dad and the time of year I was born. I like them okay but with a long first name and hyphenated surname I don’t fit into any official forms so usually just my initials are used.
My sons both have one middle name and by chance they are both only 4 letters, named after a band and my Dad who died when I was pregnant with DS2.

I've got two, the first one is a very unusual name. Even in the country it comes from, but it's also my mothers middle name. I hated it growing up and the spelling is so complicated even I have trouble remembering it. My second middle name is the female version of my dads name and I much preferred it to my actual first name, which is also very unusual and not from the country I grew up in.
I was always jealous of my sister who had our paternal grandmother and great grandmothers names as her middle names. But now I love that my middle names have meaning and keeps me close to my family.
My DD has two middle names as well, from her paternal grandmother and my second middle name from my father. Both are no longer with us and my daughter loves the connection she has with them.

My middle name is my Mum's maiden name, as is the custom with some Scottish families.

I can see it's a nice gesture but, truth be told, I'm a bit meh about it. I associate the name with my maternal Grandma who was a fairly cold-hearted woman.....

SadiePurple · 30/08/2020 13:01

Alice

luckylavender · 30/08/2020 13:14

Anne - early 60s. Typical sandwich filler.

MikeUniformMike · 30/08/2020 13:28

@BatleyTownswomensGuild, that's a popular custom in Wales too, or a different family surname if the Mother's maiden name is popular. Quite likely to have been the mother's middle name too.

Kinkybutkind · 30/08/2020 15:14

I have a middle name, passed down though the female line for generations so I am told... I am the only one left (as far as I am aware) with the name. Never met anyone else with the same name. I hated it when I was young and so refused to give it to my girls as either one of their two middle names. My granddaughter doesn’t have it either !

DrMadelineMaxwell · 30/08/2020 15:20

@zigaziga

If you ask this question in 30 years time everyone will say Rose!
My dd's middle name is Rose. Names after a great aunt, whose name isn't actually rose. It was supposed to be Rose Hilda, but when her dad trotted off to register her he spelled it wrong on the form and she's been Roshilda all her life, known to her sister as Hilda but her friends and us as Rose.
Kote · 30/08/2020 15:25

Katie. No real reason for it but I do like it Smile

newtb · 30/08/2020 15:36

Born in the 50s, both parents had middle names. Mine is Lenore after an aunt - from the Raven by Poe.

HoratiotheHorsefly · 30/08/2020 15:43

I like mine, Beatrice, born in the 60's.

maddiemookins16mum · 30/08/2020 15:52

Therese...plus I have a ridiculous Catholic confirmation name too.
Blasted Saints!!

Jojoanna · 30/08/2020 15:57

I don’t have One, but occasionally make a ludicrous one up to confuse peopke

MrsT1405 · 30/08/2020 15:57

I have a reasonable middle name, Dianne, but here in Spain ,they assume its your maiden name, or the name you are known as. Neither my first or second names lend themselves to Spanish pronunciation, which makes gp and hostel visits interesting.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 30/08/2020 16:04

Kate probably because my Mum wanted to call me Katherine but her cousin had a baby 6months before I was born and called her Catherine so they used a different name and probably used Kate as my middle name as it goes better than Katherine with my first name. My sister was given the standard for the early seventies Jane but she did have an unusual first name for that period.

Snorlax86 · 30/08/2020 16:15

I have a middle name, which I will not sure because I think it’s a fairly unique situation and therefore if someone knew me, then they would know it’s me posting.
My mum says it’s a unisex name, but literally never in my life have I come across a female with the middle name. It’s not even a nice name so not sure why she picked it. I don’t mind using the initial but tend to refrain from having my middle name shared 😂

samandpoppysmummy · 30/08/2020 16:45

I'm a late '60s baby. My middle name is Lucy. It was going to be first name, but my mum went to see The Sound of Music when she was pregnant and decided on Maria instead.

Twospaniels · 30/08/2020 16:48

Mine is Anna, my mum’s middle name is Anna and so is my daughter’s middle name.

SecretWitch · 30/08/2020 16:54

Mine is Simpson which is a family name.

TwoLegsBadFourLegsGreedy · 30/08/2020 23:40

It's not Spencer is it?

I feel your pain- both my first name and my two middle names are known as male names! 😂

paperdreams16 · 31/08/2020 08:05

Mine is Charlotte.

schnubbins · 31/08/2020 08:12

Mary, after my two Grandmothers and one Aunt .Very Irish!

Violetroselily · 31/08/2020 08:31

I have two - Claire and Rose. No meaning behind either and I don't mind them as theyre both inoffensive with my first name (which is my favourite name of the three)

I'm not sure why my mum gave me and my siblings two middle names each - that doesnt seem very common nowadays?
