Do you like it? I haven’t got one and have always felt slightly deprived!

ImaSababa · 29/08/2020 21:59

Feiga.

speedymum1968 · 29/08/2020 22:00

Mine is Anne I'm named after my grandmother who died suddenly while my mum was pregnant.She suggested my first name it makes me feel close to her even though I never met her

PontiusPilates · 29/08/2020 22:00

I’ve got four. One that was quite unusual until the current NZ prime minister got into power (I was born before her!). The others are various family surnames. I like my names.

Joolsin · 29/08/2020 22:02

@WhenTheDragonsCame

Mine is Ann. When I was growing up I used to tell everyone it was Anne because the E obviously made it so much cooler 😎 now I'm not that fussed about it either way.
Grin Mine is Anne and I make sure that I mention the E any time I say it!!!

Jane. It’s a family middle name on Dad’s side. Many years later, a relative on Mum’s side traced their family tree. It turns out that my earliest known matrilineal ancestor was called Jane.

So, even though every other girl in my class at school had Jane as a middle name, I like it and feel it fits perfectly

TwoLegsBadFourLegsGreedy · 29/08/2020 22:05

I have two-Darwin Spencer.

hopeisaprison · 29/08/2020 22:12

@Zoflorabore snap! '85 here though and named after my nana

MondeoFan · 29/08/2020 22:12

@x2boys I'm born 72'
My cousin is also Michelle but pronounces it Mish-Elle but spelt as above

MondeoFan · 29/08/2020 22:15

@Topseyt so why didn't your parents use your middle name as your first name instead I wonder? Did they choose your name Debbie Alice for example then just decide to call you Alice?

lucylocketspockets · 29/08/2020 22:15

I've never met anybody else with either my first name or middle name, they are both very weird unusual. I do like them but I wouldn't choose them.

Idontlikethatname · 29/08/2020 22:16

@Stopyourhavering64

Mine is my mother's maiden name - I'm Scottish and it was common when I was born many years ago to have this family connection I've maintained this tradition with my dcs
My dc2 has my maiden surname as his middle name. Dc1 has fils name for his middle name , as does dh. My middle name is my maternal grandmother's name - she died when my dad was a little boy. I like the way our middle names connect us to earlier generations of our family , especially when, sadly, those people are no longer here. Although we are not Scottish, both dh and I are of scottish descent, so all the names have a very scottish feel to them.
MondeoFan · 29/08/2020 22:16

@DeeTractor yes they probably think you are trying to get out of telling them

DuckonaBike · 29/08/2020 22:20

Mary.

It’s OK; I used to think it was a bit dull but having read this thread I think I’m lucky to have escaped Louise (there’s nothing wrong with the name Louise, but a lot of people seem to have it!)

copperoliver · 29/08/2020 22:25

Give yourself one you like. X

dimdarkashian · 29/08/2020 22:28

Mine is Lynne

Born 1980

Not fussed either way

DeeDimer · 29/08/2020 22:31

I'm known by my middle name. A family tradition by all accounts. I didn't share the lifelong confusion it causes with my DC's.

isabellerossignol · 29/08/2020 22:32

My middle name was the source of quite a lot of mocking when I was at school. And now, years later, there are girls all over the place, from teenagers to babies, with that same name. Some of them probability even given that name by some of the parents who teased me at school.

Although weirdly, my first name has never been fashionable (or certainly not in the past 100 years) and no one ever teased me about it. Confused

ThanksMateThanksMate · 29/08/2020 22:40

I'm a middle-name Louise.
Always preferred it to my first name which is difficult for others to spell and pronounce.
When DD2 was born we were all set to give her Louise as her given name ...
But she just didn't quite suit it.
Her middle name is an English translation of my first (which is Gaelic)

chuffedasbuttons · 29/08/2020 22:41

Love mine except when pronounced badly
Natalie

Wowcherarestalkingme · 29/08/2020 22:43

I have two as does my brother. Our middle names are our grandparents first names, though both my grandmothers had the same name so I have my mum’s name too. My mum’s name I don’t mind, my grans name is not great but it’s a nice connection.
We have carried this on as a bit of a tradition but as we have both had boys we have a mixture of grandparents and great grandparents.
