I don't need to preface that this is lighthearted do I?! Well, just in case - it is!

My friend is married to the most lovely man from South Carolina. Another friend is married to the most interesting man from Maryland. And I've developed a crush on a former FBI agent who appears on a crime programme. I've therefore decided I'd like an American man. How do I find one? :)

Florida seems to be a successful hunting ground if my friends’ holiday romance stories are anything to go by....

I’ve got one, and he’s fab! Picked him up in a bar in the Midwest, now here we are twenty plus years, and a bunch of kids later. He’s from a military background, atheist, and liberal. We’re in South Carolina now, I can keep an eye out for you if you like 😁

I am not sure if Florida is the spot for me to pick a chap up.

I have no coordination so can't roller blade. And I wouldn't be seen dead in a street in a bikini. I think perhaps Chicago in winter would be better.

No, but I didn’t meet him in America to be fair. We did long distance for a year when he went to med school and I was finishing up my degree. Then once he was doing residency we were both in the US but on opposite coasts for a bit. It’s been a long haul. It’s easy to forget sometimes how big the US is. We used to fly from New York to London to see each other (he was in CT) and then we did SFO to Boston and the latter was a longer flight!

There is a thought, but we would have to move to a warmer spot as I am a bit miserable in the winter.

Did he ask you to send money to him so that he can do a sperm count test?

I didn't respond to his message isthis. It said "hi, are you here for a serious and honest relationship". It offended me for some reason and I had to restrain myself from replying "no, I'm here to scam as many people as possible, to relieve everyone of their life savings, and perhaps to murder a few people in their beds. Hth :)".

I thought I'd update you all on my search for an American (or Greek or Irish or Australian) man but unfortunately there is no update :(. How is it possible that in the whole world of online dating there are no American men willing to engage with me?

And how is it possible that I have not seen a single man - not one! - to whom I'm attracted? (Thought "to whom I'm attracted" sounded better than "who I fancy").
