I've decided I'd like an American man :)

I don't need to preface that this is lighthearted do I?! Well, just in case - it is!

My friend is married to the most lovely man from South Carolina. Another friend is married to the most interesting man from Maryland. And I've developed a crush on a former FBI agent who appears on a crime programme. I've therefore decided I'd like an American man. How do I find one? :)

@Yukkalye

Oh really Fun? Tell me more! Actually (without wishing to sound as if any old man will do) I do like Greek men - sucker for dark handsome men. Where do I find one of them then? I can see busy times ahead!
Grin You are funny! You'll easily hook a man! Well, you need to go all Shirley Valentine (am I showing my age?!) and go on an adventure to a Greek Island! I had a holiday romance in the early 90s, he came to visit 6 months after I met him and is still here! Smile
Yukkalye · 17/08/2020 12:28

Thank you Fun, I'm going to show your posts to my dc as proof that someone in the world thinks I'm funny!

And then I'll get on with the search for an American, Canadian or Greek man who wants me. That's three whole countries to choose from - how hard can it be? :)

Are you married to your Greek holiday romance man Fun?! Shock

Yukkalye - is that you, Meghan ?

VetOnCall · 17/08/2020 17:51

I have a Canadian, I'd highly recommend both the men and the country Grin

Is this a spin-off from the Four Weddings thread?

‘My name’s Rhett’ 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

One of my favourite colleagues ever (we’re still friendly since I changed jobs) is Californian and even living in Glasgow doesn’t stop him wearing flip flops to work every day Grin

He studied at UCLA and it blew my mind that people actually do that. Like, it’s not just something you hear on American TV shows. People in real life go to UCLA! Grin

Usernamealreadyexists · 17/08/2020 18:15

@Bunnybumbum I’m on the market for a New Yorker - I’ve got a thing for American men. Feel free to send him my way Grin

Usernamealreadyexists · 17/08/2020 18:17

@VetOnCall call me stalkerish but I have wondered what happened to you! I was on the dating thread when you met your Canadian! So happy you are still together. Did you move there? Wedding bells?? Flowers

Usernamealreadyexists · 17/08/2020 18:18

Bunnybumbum · 17/08/2020 18:27

@Usernamealreadyexists it was all fun and games until there was a “hilarious” mix up with him asking if I’d be getting my son a tudaaaaar to help with his maths.

Bunnybumbum · 17/08/2020 18:28

@sugagi careful - my friend did the same and is now married to a Korean and a mother of four very sweet little Koreans Grin

sugagi · 17/08/2020 18:29

@Bunnybumbum oh no Shock that's put me right off Grin

Usernamealreadyexists · 17/08/2020 18:36

No, I'm not Meghan, she's sorted! She doesn't need to start a mn thread begging for help!

Is he attached amused? If not, would he like to be? I'm very easy to get along with although I think he'd have to move from Glasgow. I can't really do the daily commute to Reading from there.

Would one just rock up to a bar in Wisconsin, like in Love Actually?

Vodkacranberryplease · 17/08/2020 18:51

Oh I do like an American man. The smart kind with great jobs that live here. I met both on tinder. Would love another, maybe even for keeps.

The Alaskan kind is a big avoid apparently. And the religious kind defibtely not. Also they aren't terribly keen on boozing so be prepared for sharp intakes of breath when you order a second bottle of wine..,

MJMG2015 · 17/08/2020 18:54

I'm very near Reading!
I'll keep an eye out for you :). But honestly
'Go Canadian'.

Do your friends American
Partners not have friends???
