After watching some of the heartbreaking video from lawyer Claire Wills about what has been happening to our elderly folk in care homes
There is now an email address if any other whistle blowers want to get in touch

We now have an email address set up for whistleblowers to send their accounts to.

We are getting many in and we want to work with you in getting your voices heard in a safe and secure way.

The email address is [email protected]

It is manned by myself, a lawyer, a psychotherapist and a health practitioner. We can assure anonymity whenever requested but we urge you to come forward to Save Lives.

If I can find the video, I will post it

We need to know just what went on in those places, when they were closed to relatives scrutiny

Morning. Have made the effort & got up marginally earlier than most Saturdays for me. Apart from when the DCs were small I have never been a lark.

Gladioli I planted last year have finally bloomed, like gorgeous white triffids. Morrissey & Dame Edna will be flocking to my garden later for a look.

A reminder also to contact local adult social care if anyone has any safeguarding concerns about care homes. Did so this week in a professional capacity & they have been brilliant.

Our decent local playground is reopening so I’ll be avoiding local Facebook as it’ll be packed in the sunshine! It was bound to happen. It’s always very busy and it’s great watching children play again! Just need them to replace the swings now the rules have changed and under 11s can officially play together again!

BeneathTheMilkyTwilight · 08/08/2020 10:02

Good morning, can I just ask as I wasn't sure what the thread is about exactly... Am I right that you're a group of people who are against measures to deal with covid such as social distancing? Do you just dislike them or do you actively ignore them? Do you not believe the virus is real or you think the experts are wrong about how to deal with it, or you just don't care? Genuinely interested.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 08/08/2020 10:09

Hi @BeneathTheMilkyTwilight, we are a pretty diverse mix of people really. The unifying theme is it's probably not a good idea to revel in misery and live your life waiting for the second wave, whilst telling everyone off for doing frivolous things like going to the shops for milk, buying Easter eggs, or eating crisps on a bench. That is being a dementor (sucking any happiness out of life) and we are the anti dementors (will try to find happiness where we can!)

Best thing to do is look through the previous threads - they are all in chat with either 'anti dementor' or the later 'AD'. Theres about twenty five of them I think. Be warned, tangents include dogs bums and angel delight.

BeneathTheMilkyTwilight · 08/08/2020 10:13

I understand the not living your life in misery bit.... I don't personally know anyone who is doing that... But i don't understand the "anti social distancing" bit. Are you against the current guidelines, it seems like the thread is to encourage people to ignore them, is that correct?

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 08/08/2020 10:15

Ah, you've misunderstood. It's making the point that distancing is antisocial, not that we are (collectively) against social distancing.

skeptile · 08/08/2020 10:20

I think the term 'anti-social distancing' means the same thing as 'social distancing', but with the benefit of being a more accurate descriptor.

Great answer

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 08/08/2020 10:28

Cheers Dowser.

So, plans for today anyone? We're off for a walk round the woods, then tea and cake in a tea room nearby. Drove past it yesterday while on our travels (taking the long way round trying to get dds to sleep in the car) and looks to have a huge garden area so can plonk ourselves on a table and not have to worry about dds wandering around too much as they will easily be able to doodle around without getting in other people's space.

TheOrchidKiller · 08/08/2020 10:31

@BeneathTheMilkyTwilight we all have differing opinions but these threads aren't about denying that covid exists, or ignoring guidelines.

We respect, for example, the fact that some people are not able to wear masks for whatever reason & should not be demonised for not wearing a mask.

We talk about some of the contradictory guidelines that don't make sense, or about guidelines that are causing very real hardship (eg kids being abused at home because they haven't had access to school).

We have several posters who are excellent at interpreting stats & who calm us down when the media paints a panicky worse-case-scenario picture.

Mostly we support each other through the groundhog day of covid-world. Lots of us are struggling for whatever reason. These threads have kept us going.

BeneathTheMilkyTwilight · 08/08/2020 10:38

Thanks for the answers, I was confused by the title and by a post talking about national protests against covid measures, and by the poster who said she ignored social distancing because she was "over it". Thought you were a group who had chosen to defy /protest against covid measures like some people in the US are, and i was interested in your motivations. Thanks for clarifying (but you might like to be aware how the thread looks to an outsider....)

MagdaS · 08/08/2020 10:42

Checking in. On a busman’s holiday today - our journey back from the Yorkshire Dales is taking in Saltaire and the Halifax Piece Hall. I do like a bit of built heritage.

DH is currently shopping in his pants as face mask ensemble. I am hiding in the car with the boys.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 08/08/2020 10:45

Magda please take a picture! Your DH needs his pants mask recorded for posterity!

I love Saltaire. Fascinating place.

Willow2017 · 08/08/2020 10:47

Checking in thanks Dowser.

Aching all over from yesterday's weeding but got more to do today. But suns shining again so that's a bonus.

^ or not!

Waving to everyone - busy weekend - but nothing exciting ... dh is off to his mum’s to do some emergency plumbing, I will finish decorating the kitchen.

Have completely failed to find anywhere the children can go swimming but succeeded in booking eye tests & ‘flu jabs ... win some/lose some.

We have three (!!) Rishi deals booked for next week ... including a very posh one with dd1 cos she’s worked so hard this year & deserves it. Some of the uni regulations for this coming year have come through - starts with a 7/14 day household isolation on site before term starts then follows up with a ban on fun & most of the option modules cancelled. If she hadn’t already had a year out she’d defer & keep working (loves her job) - young ppl really have been fucked by this, I don’t see much recognition of that from those who benefit most! I imagine she’s going to be spending a lot of time socialising with non uni friends.

PinkFondantFancy · 08/08/2020 10:53

Hello all! I was up at 5 today, can't sleep in this heat. The upside is that by the time DH was up I'd hung out a load of washing, put the dishwasher on and been for a run! I won't be feeling so smug when I pass out at 3pm though Grin

Ibake · 08/08/2020 10:55

Morning all. Busy day today, friends coming over for drinks this evening so need to get the garden tidied up!

@Dowser I think @BeneathTheMilkyTwilight has a valid point re how we look to the outside world. None of us on here have ever been against proper measures to restrict infection rates and we're all huge advocates of hand washing and keeping our distance as it's common sense.

I agree with expressions like new abnormal or temporary normal but I think the missing hyphen in anti social rather than anti-social completely changes our thread title meaning. Maybe get MNHQ to amend?

Last thing we want is for the D's to descend on here because they think we're a bunch of covid deniers. (Which we're emphatically not)

Nomnomarrgh · 08/08/2020 10:57

Hi there, so little children CAN play together?

I read in The Times that at most there is one possible on a teacher catching covid in the classroom in the whole world. So glad dd has missed 6 months of school Angry
