@NothingIsWrong

Another lovely day out here, we ended up at the Ryedale Folk Museum in North Yorkshire, and it was utterly fabulous. Mostly outside so no masks required except for a few indoors bits, but in general very non dementory. Lovely cuppa in the cafe next door and I bought a load of merino yarn for spinning at one of the craft shops. There is also a tiny chocolate factory there as well :-)

I am feeling much better for a break from work, but somewhat dreading Monday...

We like Ryedale. Did you have to book? Up in that area this weekend so might visit. Time out from work makes a huge difference. I had my first week off for 6 months last week and it made a huge difference. Don't worry about Monday. Its still a long way away...

WouldBeGood · 13/08/2020 21:33

None of them will work when they’re reused and germ infested. But the point is to look caring.

Most disappointed that they didn't test face coverings made from a bra or pants. They may have actually turned out to be the most beneficial face coverings of all, & we'll never know because of this half-arsed research.

That's about it for me. Maximum breathability to reduce panic attacks. Once the bloody thing is pulled down and I'm hyperventilating lots of particles from deep within my lungs the whole exercise is doing more harm than good... at least if I was getting drunk in busy town pubs or getring out and socialising, or working with people (even just back to volunteering with children) to stand more than a negligable chance of exposure...
BogRollBOGOF · 13/08/2020 21:41

p39. Are we deflowering male cucumbers for the greater good on the next one?
Or something like that.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 13/08/2020 21:43

Sounds good Bog, you want to do the honours?

NannyPhlegm · 13/08/2020 21:58

Male cucumbers are a must.
Aubergines have to make a cameo too surely

justasking111 · 13/08/2020 21:59

So new zealanders will be rounded up and quarantined. Jesus wept.

This is a very bad policy. I just wouldn’t report symptoms and try to hide away.
NowYouListenToMeFella · 13/08/2020 22:31

@Welcometothelifeboatparty

Wow! So the health guy in NZ has the legal right to quarantine AND DISINFECT anything and anyone he thinks fit.

Blimey. Well that's hardly scary at all 😳

Jesus you wouldn't be mentioning it to anyone if you think you had symptoms.

So many masks here these days. I just can't get used to seeing them.

Saw pics of the socially distanced gig in the UK. A few of my friends thought it was ideal and they'd actually go to a gig now. It just made me sad.

Crazy reading about the back tracking on your numbers over there. They don't seem to be shouting that too loudly.

Regional lockdowns going on here at the minute. A man I'm doing a project with is caught up. He was telling me today himself and his wife have planned an escape route and are considering doing a moonlit flit. I was like do it, I won't tell anyone at work.

BogRollBOGOF · 13/08/2020 22:36

I'll try and set it up before going to bed...

bakingcupcakes · 13/08/2020 23:01

Definitely the deflowering of male cucumbers for the next thread.

I also wouldn't say anything about mild symptoms if I was living in New Zealand. Sometimes I think I wouldn't say anything here either...these thoughts disturb my rule following personality.

bakingcupcakes · 13/08/2020 23:04

I don't believe my masks which live in my handbag and have never been washed protect me or anyone else from anything. They're purely for show.

Tomorrow I need to go to the indoor shopping centre for balloons (clearly balloons are essential). I'm wondering if I can cope with a trip to aldi as well. I'm running low on gin.

NowYouListenToMeFella · 13/08/2020 23:06

Baking gin is definitely an essential

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 13/08/2020 23:25

I second that - gin is a necessity! It’s got me through the last five months.

IAintentDead · 13/08/2020 23:41

Gin is a necessity - so is baking gin

but it's red wine that has got me through

Welcometothelifeboatparty · 13/08/2020 23:54

White, red and pink wine have all helped me get through. But tomorrow we're going to make ice cubes with our borage flowers in them, buy gin so we can have mad cocktails on Saturday. Fuck it, we feel we deserve it (our livers will disagree)

Welcometothelifeboatparty · 13/08/2020 23:56

We've lost work, our dd's education has been put on hold for 6 months and DH's mum is dying. On Saturday at least, gin will be the answer

99victoria · 14/08/2020 00:13

My son is getting married in France in 5 weeks times and I have just been on the France Quarantine thread to say that we are still planning to go for 4 days (booked last September), that we are planning to do the 2 week quarantine and that I am arranging alternative insurance cover with a company who will cover us against FCO advice. In response, one ot the lovely MNers has called me 'a nasty and idiotic waste of oxygen'.
Time to leave MN i think........

It's the little things that keep us plodding through life until tough times pass Flowers
ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 14/08/2020 00:19

Please stay, @99victoria. We understand.

HeIenaDove · 14/08/2020 00:19

Bloke in a face mask stole five bottles of booze from a local Tesco here.

You're not the idiotic waste of oxygen Flowers

Of course you want to go to his wedding, and you're following sensible precautions. That says far more about the bullies than you.
