@Devlesko

I'm in Wigan, we have 2 weeks of lockdown and fined if I visit them. They have a ridiculous neighbour who would likely report us. My work relied on venues such as theatres, schools, festivals etc. No jobs about, and dh has lost his work too, he's a musician and same venues. They don't make this much fuss over flu, I don't believe this is any different, but know people will disagree.
I sympathize. I'm in calderdale. It's shit isn't it? I think the worst thing for me is there is no end date.
ACautionaryTale · 08/08/2020 13:44

@Devlesko

See that is the one that’s always made sense to me

If i go to the shops or pub I don’t go around hugging people or getting overly close to them

If I go to a relatives - hugs abound

I very very much doubt any but a small minority properly social distance inside relatives and friends houses

Therefore stopping people visiting people makes the most sense

Get the wrong strain of flu vaccine and a bad year and flu can be just as devestating. 2018 was a bad year, 50,000 deaths, but we didn't sacrifice the economy, jobs, access to healthcare, education and social interractions for it.

The longer term effects of Covid are a worry, but again, that's not unique to Covid either. Plenty of the usual viruses are killers or cause post-viral fatigue and other complications.

Littlebelina · 08/08/2020 13:47

@ISaySteadyOn ours have slowed again so had to get DH to buy one this week but we did have 4 ready at once earlier in the summer which was a few too many...

Willow2017 · 08/08/2020 13:50

Oh I missed that post Trapped 🌹 I am so sorry.

bookworm14 · 08/08/2020 13:51

I’m absolutely not a Covid denier, and will distance and wear a mask where appropriate. I’m not thrilled with the current thread title or the posts supportive of the weird Keep Britain Free group. However I’ve found these threads a lifeline during the past few months as they are a sanctuary away from the dementing, handwringing and smug posturing which has infested the rest of the site.

TheOrchidKiller · 08/08/2020 13:52

My dad soaks his raspberries (ooer missus) Grin

What with that & talk of waiting for your cucumbers to be longer before harvesting it's got quite "Carry On Anti-Dementor" on here!

I am terrible with plants, indoor & out, hence my user name.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 08/08/2020 13:53

Willow2017

Thanks.

Agreed!
Littlebelina · 08/08/2020 13:54

Yes, really sorry to hear about your mum trapped

Devlesko · 08/08/2020 13:54

BogRoll

I totally agree, I'm no denier I know of people who have died, not personally though. A midwife died in Wigan, I didn't know her but she was on duty when my dd was born. Then two people from my ds2 workplace died, too.
I just don't think the policies/ procedures being put in place are needed and I think it's time we got on with living.

Willow2017 · 08/08/2020 13:57

What I object to is the authoritative attitude of some when they think people are breaking the roolz (usually because they don't understand said rules themselves), schools being kept closed to most and the misrepresentation of science and statistics by the media, posters on other threads and sometimes the government itself
Exactly thos.
Plus the absolute venom directed at anyone who doesnt 100% agree with the made up rules that were spouted for months on here and still.is at people just posting a simple question or opinion.

Christ apparently we aren't slowed to even have a moan over masks now without someone telling us it's just not necessary. Mind your own fecking business. Before all this peaople moaned about all sorts of things bet they didnt have some random telling them they couldn't.

PinkFondantFancy · 08/08/2020 13:59

vodka raspberries your dad is a genius! 2 for 1!

Hi to the newcomers! As the others have said, broad spectrum of views here but always respectful and kind which makes it a lifeline in my opinion.

@trappedsincesundaymorn I didn't know about your mum, sorry Flowers

PinkFondantFancy · 08/08/2020 14:02

Wait, what, cheese in coffee?! Someone was taking the p, surely?? You'd drink it black, not cheesy!!!!! My brain is about to explode. And you can only freeze milk if you bought more than you needed in the first place which also is surely verboten under the roolz??

trappedsincesundaymorn · 08/08/2020 14:02

Littlebelina

Thank you.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 08/08/2020 14:07

PinkFondantFancy

Thank you.

Dad is now looking into the possibility of soaking raspberries in Scotch..no-one knows why.He would have done well during prohibition..."pssst wanna buy some raspberries?" Who knew you could get pissed on a fruit salad? Grin

Milk was not essential so just put cheese in your coffee if you run out of milk. You coukdnt make it up!
PinkFondantFancy · 08/08/2020 14:14

That is one of the grossest things I've ever heard. I love cheese more than the average person but the thought of putting it in coffee is Envy

littlbrowndog · 08/08/2020 14:33

Am glad you lot are here. Don’t often chat but it’s like sanity in a sea of the roolz

NothingIsWrong · 08/08/2020 14:34

I am not a denier either. But my mental health is in the toilet, and a few people local to me who have just been going on about how I just need to suck up my full time (although I'm only paid for 30 hours) job and homeschool my kids and have no right to moan about it have taken me to some bad places. I'm drunk more nights than not to cope, I'm fat and sad. People here keep me sane. I wear a mask where mandated, I just don't go anywhere anymore. My job is degrees of magnitude harder over Teams and I miss my lovely colleagues. I just don't see the point in life at the moment, or the point in me being around. I'll keep on keeping on but the rest of MN is routinely giving me panic attacks. Here, it is safe to express how I feel without being told I'm a fucking idiot and whether I'd prefer a ventilator

NothingIsWrong · 08/08/2020 14:35

I am planning my new bedroom and en-suite makeover although my builder can't start until January. Plenty of time to save up as it ain't gonna be cheap!

Drivingdownthe101 · 08/08/2020 14:47

Checking in! I am an AD regular but am not a Covid denier, an anti masker, an anti vaxxer... I am anti shaming people who can’t wear masks, and I’m anti accusing anyone who doesn’t follow ‘the rules’ of murdering grannies, and I’m anti hyperbole about eating crisps on benches... I come here for donut bum chat, learning Greek swear words and a bit of respite from the doom and gloom/shaming/vitriol that has become more and more apparent on the rest of the site.

ISaySteadyOn · 08/08/2020 14:53

@NothingIsWrong, it is really hard. I know I am words on a screen and you don't know me from Eve, but I am on your side. I think you are having a natural reaction to this situation and I respect you for keeping on.

My mental health is also circling the drain. I was so close to completely recovered and feeling happy about life and feeling organised. Now I am a mess.

Like you, I stick to these threads.

Also, what's the definition of a covid denier? I can think of several so I want to know which ones you are all using.

Drivingdownthe101 · 08/08/2020 14:55

And this, x1000.

Flowers @NothingIsWrong

BogRollBOGOF · 08/08/2020 15:04

I just put raspberries into a normal sponge cake mix. Particularly good with a chocolate sponge with chocolate spread Grin
