Some shops won't be enforcing -that's where I will spend money!
Let the mask brigade shop elsewhere!

I wonder how long til this fizzles out.....

yeOldeTrout · 24/07/2020 08:23

I live in the sort of town where people routinely collapse in the street anyway (pre-covid life). I wouldn't infer the mask wearing to mean anything about why she went down, tbh. Collapsing in street is something oldies just do.

Worldgonecrazy · 24/07/2020 08:29

Apparently according to a Polish study, non mask wearers are more likely to be sociopaths and psychopaths. That puts me up with most CEOs and politicians then Grin

NannyPhlegm · 24/07/2020 08:30

Do you know what I find most disgusting about mask-wearing? The photographs of BoJo wearing them! The blue mask was bad enough, especially the manner in which it crumpled around his mouth. But the black one posted above here is doubly yuck!

Where is the bleurgh emoji when you need it?

NothingIsWrong · 24/07/2020 08:31

I will be switching from Morrisons to Asda at this rate. To be honest, I will wear a mask, but I prefer their attitude.

I have a great one with a skull on :-)

Orangeblossom78 · 24/07/2020 08:39

Amsterdam meant to be ok for a trip perhaps

Orangeblossom78 · 24/07/2020 08:40

Waitrose yes to invisible disabilities- before this they did mornings for slow shopping, seats etc for disabilities such as autism too..

Wow. So does that mean us ASD types with heart conditions are sociopaths or are we psychopaths?

And actually, masks can cause respiratory problems which could lead to a collapse in my case and I am 39.

But I don't want to only post negatives. I found a new non Dementor shop yesterday and all my DC are now having social lives. I am heartened by how few Dementors it turns out there are in my life and someone told me yesterday that I was her inspiration for how to do motherhood. Plus all my plants are doing really well.

I hope everyone has a good day today.

Drivingdownthe101 · 24/07/2020 08:46

Fab news ISaySteadyOn!
There are very few dementors in my real life too (well maybe there are, but I haven’t encountered them as they’re too busy spouting venom at people from behind closed doors).

SomewhereEast · 24/07/2020 08:50

I hear the Dutch are pretty chilled. We visit quite often (used to have family living in the Netherlands so have a soft for it & speak some Dutch) and I can imagine them being sensible. We live near Hull & might pop across ourselves in the ferry in late August.

Orangeblossom78 · 24/07/2020 08:53

Going to try not to engage today, it doesn't help, does it, sometimes.

I’ve decided to spend any time on here today reporting the more vile comments instead of engaging.
SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 24/07/2020 08:56

Going to try to do the same, @Orangeblossom78.

dingit · 24/07/2020 09:12

Ugh, I have to travel by train tomorrow. I suspect the route I'm taking will be empty, so if my carriage is empty my mask will be coming off. I'm not a good traveller at the best of times Sad

Ibake · 24/07/2020 09:16

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane

Ibake visors look after number 1 only you say? 😁

This performance caring seems to have ramped up about 15 notches since Feb. It’s fucking nauseating. You’ve got to be a bit of a wally to think anyone’s buying it. Pssst! Everyone knows you’re a cunt - and have been - since 1985. Wear the mask if you want sunshine, but you’re still a horrible person.

There was a table a couple of weeks ago on the government website and I wish I'd screenshot it. I'll keep looking but that was what it said. Of course it is entirely possible that the government has since changed it's mind...

Police now pointedly parked in the local Tesco carpark as a visible "sitting here so you know we're sitting here" tactic.

You’d think they had something better to do!

@DominaShantotto 😡

Major supermarkets and coffee chains say they will not enforce new rules which say customers should wear face coverings from Friday.

Sainsburys, Asda, Co-op and Costa Coffee are among retailers saying they have no intention of policing the laws, which carry a penalty of a £100 fine.

sorry them again

BarkandCheese · 24/07/2020 09:26

Good morning! I’m glad to see my donut bummed dog made it to the thread title. She’s such a hairy little bugger that her bum donut has almost grown out, only a week after the vet shaved her. Even her groomer, who must see hundreds of dogs, says she’s never seen a dog with such a thick and quick growing coat.

I’m off on holiday tomorrow so will spend the day packing and not thinking about mask wearing.

DominaShantotto · 24/07/2020 09:28

There's a lot more visible police cars around when I've gone to do the school run (and McBreakfast run) - went past the local Tesco - one sat in there, another around by the retail park (although could have been getting a McBreakfast themselves) and another round nearby schools.

Could be paranoid but it's the same police force who spent a LOT of time being seen to be around near parks when there was the outcries about 2m distancing there earlier in lockdown. They are very much standing around to be seen.

DH did Tesco and made sure to stop and de-mist his glasses at the most regular and inconvenient places to stand in the store throughout.

Orangeblossom78 · 24/07/2020 09:31

Sounds joyful for students Sad

"Universities are banning house parties and overnight stays as part of social distancing rules.

When students take up their places at university at the start of next academic year, social gatherings of any kind will not be permitted in halls of residence and guests will be barred from entry."

I’ve started taking photos of all the disposable masks I’ve seen discarded on the floor.
Saw three yesterday on a 10 min walk to the park.
Also saw a group of teenagers sat in the park with black hoodies (hoods up) and black masks on, so you could barely see their faces. They were talking about going to steal stuff from the Co-op.
