Definitely an escaped pet corn snake. We had 2. My larger Male was a similar shape at the tail end. Much chunkier than the female, and was over 4ft in length which I think is fairly long for a corn snake.
Not aggressive snakes, but I would understand your caution if you arent a snake fan or unsure of how to handle. They are surprisingly strong even if they are small as they are pure muscle!
Hopefully someone arrives soon to help. And the snake stays sunbathing in the mean time. It's a beauty.

Laserbird16 · 10/07/2020 13:50

I may not know the species but it's a fatty!

Florencemattell · 10/07/2020 13:50

@Itsjustabitofbanter

Small white snow corn snake which is what it is. Compared to the massive Burmese python which is what some morons are confusing it with 😂😂
Rude not everyone knows about snakes.

A girl snake? You could end up with snake babies!!!

ginandgingers92 · 10/07/2020 13:52

@Pelleas yeah weird huh?! Just a name for the join between the body and tail and how it tapers past the sex organs. Females tend to have a more pronounced bump just before the tail, which can look a bit odd, and lots of people can think they're carrying eggs. Male's tails tend to taper more smoothly.

Having said that, my snake is male and is just fat so has some hippage going on.

Have a little google and educate yourself as to why the term 'moron' is very offensive.
Lipz · 10/07/2020 13:53

Oh my Jesus I'd be terrified. I saw a wild one once in USA just wriggling around some bushes and the screams from me, you'd think I was been murdered. Hope he gets collected soon. I don't understand how people like these as pets Hmm

Wolfiefan · 10/07/2020 13:53

That would scare the life out of me. Im less phobic than I was but I certainly wouldn’t feel safe capturing an unknown snake.
Following for more info about hips though. Snakes have them? Something about it being a girl?
I never used to even be able to look at pictures of snakes. Blush I have actually handled one now. They are fascinating.

LaurieFairyCake · 10/07/2020 13:54

Literally can't tell the difference between those two snakes Confused

The python and the corn snake are both pale with similar markings ?

I certainly wouldn't be able to say with enough certainty while musing when I COULD BE RUNNING IN THE OPPOSITE FUCKING DIRECTION

the time for musing on what type of cunting snake it is could be had in the car while driving away

acatcalledjohn · 10/07/2020 13:55

I have nothing useful to offer.

LaurieFairyCake · 10/07/2020 13:55

Also for all I know about fucking snakes that python may just have A BIT OF A TAN !!! 🤷‍♀️

Mouldiwarp1 · 10/07/2020 13:56

This has reminded me I need to give DD’s snake fresh water. Due a feed too.

goodthanks · 10/07/2020 13:59

For. Fuck's. Sake. Time to move to another planet.

ineedaholidaynow · 10/07/2020 14:00

I assume big snakes start off as small snakes

BobFleming · 10/07/2020 14:01

I clicked on the thread thinking 'grass snake/adder/slow worm...'

OMG!

DullDullWeather · 10/07/2020 14:01

Not a snake expert but from what I have seen of a python, they are a lot longer and a hell of a lot wider and I think are brown and black ? This is from what I have seen in the past .

SpinningLikeATop · 10/07/2020 14:02

I wouldn't care what kind it was. Fuck. That.
OP, you are braver than me. I would have be at least 5 miles away by now.
Hope someone can come and get it for you.

Oh and @BobFleming -same Grin

GreyGardens88 · 10/07/2020 14:06

I hope the owner is caught and fined heavily for letting a potentially dangerous snake out loose. If you don't know how to keep a snake then don't have one ffs

iklboo · 10/07/2020 14:06

Well, they are born small obviously but many species have a maximum growth. Our corn snake is fully grown at 5ft.

Gogogadgetarms · 10/07/2020 14:06

Shit a brick on a stick.

I saw a slow worm the other day and thought it was a snake. Now feeling a bit foolish.

It's not remotely dangerous ffs
