@TeaStory

(Been there, done that. Pet snake turned up in the bottom a cupboard glory hole)

WHAT?!

This has frightened me more than the snake Grin
rosiethehen · 10/07/2020 12:56

It's not dangerous and it won't hurt you. Get a neighbour to put it into a pillowcase then secure the top. Get it to somewhere warm.

Lightofthephoenix · 10/07/2020 12:58

Looks like a corn snake to me, escaped pet, can you check your areas Facebook posts to see if anyone missing one.
You can try and pick that one up, it's non venomous.

It'll not hurt you OP. Pick it up just below the head and the other hand lower down. Stick it in a pillowcase or something. It needs rescuing.

user1495884620 · 10/07/2020 13:00

To be fair to OP, I wouldn't trust internet randoms telling me a snake was harmless from a photo. There have been at least two different IDs so far on this thread.

DaphneFanshaw · 10/07/2020 13:05

Me neither.
I would be putting a box over it and locking the cat in the house.

LadyMuck111 · 10/07/2020 13:05

That's not a wild snake. Someone locally has lost it I'd say. Contact a local reptile shop maybe or have a look on Facebook because some reptile keeper has definitely lost it. They aren't vicious at all. Don't panic.

LadyMuck111 · 10/07/2020 13:07

@WhatTheThunderSaid

Is it just me or does the tail end look a little odd? The body's a bit sausagey for a corn (or it might just be overfed). If you were near me OP I'd come get it but sadly looks too sunny for my area today Grin
I think it's ready to have a 💩
feelingfragile · 10/07/2020 13:08

How beautiful!

(I'm also just following for updates and hopefully more pictures)

(And also to find out more about the snake in the glory hole.)

Sexnotgender · 10/07/2020 13:12

Beautiful snake, I’d probably shit myself if I stumbled across it in the garden though!

youhave4substitutes · 10/07/2020 13:13

@Bumply your snake popped through your glory hole? 😱

EmpressSuiko · 10/07/2020 13:14

Oh it’s beautiful! I hope someone comes round soon, it’s must have escaped, hopefully it’s not been abandoned and the owners can be found.
My husband would want to keep it 😂 he adores snakes!

FenellaVelour · 10/07/2020 13:18

Lovely snake! But definitely needs rescuing.

Also following for glory hole clarification. Nobody wants a snake in their glory hole.

LycraLovingLass · 10/07/2020 13:18

Definitely someone's pet. Facebook seems a great idea.

It would be good if you could contain it, thwy arent usually aggressive.

Glory hole - I truly hope that means something different where you live!

Blimey yes, don’t pick it up based on what people say based on a picture!
Shatandfattered · 10/07/2020 13:20

It's a cornsnake literally the most tame snake ever

Shatandfattered · 10/07/2020 13:21

I'm speaking as someone who owned 13 different species it's a bloody cornsnake! Jeez the histeria 🤣

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/07/2020 13:21

I’m sorry but Awwwwwwww.

Wankerchief · 10/07/2020 13:21

I'm just here for more about the glory hole

iklboo · 10/07/2020 13:22

Venomous snakes are not normally kept as pets. It's head shape is all wrong for a viper. We keep snakes. It is totally harmless. All the species named on here are.

Snakeomg · 10/07/2020 13:25

The RSPCA will be coming out to pick it up. It’s moved slightly now the sun has gone in.

Embarrassingly I saw it in the garden a while ago and thought ‘that looks like a snake, no it can’t be’ then promptly got distracted with work and forgot about it.

Let ddog outside a while later and ddog was leaping up in the air next to it so went to investigate. Thread title was pretty much my reaction.

How do you know this one wouldn't be dangerous though? Genuinely curious as I am terrified of snakes and would think it's like dogs - you get gentle breeds but you can't ever predict how an animal would react to being handled by a stranger?
These white snakes are always the ones escaping and turning up in daily mail articles in people's bathrooms - and thus is why I always close all the toilet lids at nighttime

frustrationcentral · 10/07/2020 13:25

Crumbs!!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 10/07/2020 13:26

Ahh, it's found a nice sunny spot so is probably quite content. I like snakes but it would make me jump if there was suddenly one on the garden.

Thirtyrock39 · 10/07/2020 13:26

Op roughly how big is it it's hard to tell from pic ? I'm trying to face my fears vicariously through you as this is in my top ten worst nightmares !!
