My thighs hurt after another corporate day in a dress. I think bloomers might be the answer.

After another sweaty day where my thighs have just and so caught each other every time I've moved to 'make a cup of coffee' stand in front of the open fridge in the office kitchen wafting my dress and my knicker elastic is rubbing on my 3day post bikini line trim stubble I feel that there must be a better way.

I'm seriously considering some kind of nice airy bloomers, I'm trying to work out how they could be slimline enough to still be flattering under a dress.

I've tried cycling shorts, cut down leggings etc but surely the whole point of wearing a dress is to avoid the whole sweaty crotch on a hot day issue you get with trousers/leggings.

I've also tried the glidey balm stuff but it makes me feel a bit, icky.

Is it time for a lightweight, non bulky. slimline cotton bloomer revolution? How do we make this happen? I'm thinking like men's boxers but nicer.

I’ve just bought these off amazon- after a day a chafed thighs. I’ve not worn them yet but they seem very lightweight and silky like.

The pain of rubbed thighs is agony I feel your pain I’m wearing generic football short for once mine are not rubbing, under a dress though I don’t know.

sweetief · 26/06/2020 20:33

Roll on deodorant! I know, sounds gross and crazy but I tried it last your and it works. For hours! Honestly, try it! Let me know how you get on.

MorvaanReed · 26/06/2020 20:33

100% polyester - nice.

Yes I suspected this isn't a new problem given women regularly wearing trousers is only a few decades old, and there is likely to be an old solution. I just need it to be affordable, widely available and machine washable.

Are modern knickers a feminist issue?

Too tight. I want wafts of air to reach my nether regions.

I definitely agree with deodorant! Either roll on, spray, stick!

It's changed my life!

Binterested · 26/06/2020 20:36

Cotton cycling shorts. Not Lycra. I got mine on Amazon. Wear them every day in the summer.

I've got some from snag tights .

CMOTDibbler · 26/06/2020 20:37

I bought some of these bad boys. Cottony cool comfort.

SoddingWeddings · 26/06/2020 20:38

I can vouch for these: snagtights.com/collections/80-denier-opaque-chub-rub-shorts

I don't get sweaty with these. Maybe cut out the crotch if you want breeze!

Herdwick · 26/06/2020 20:40

I should have been clearer. Thigh rub and tight knickers are equally problematic. The knicker elastic is chafing at my bikini line in hot weather. I want loose and breezy in general not just glidey thighs Grin

Ooh almost, if only they were a bit looser.

Ooh I don't enjoy a breezy crotch so I prefer wearing cut offs under dresses even if I didn't get chub rub (which I do)
I'm sure that you could find some cottony PE short type things to wear under a dress but they would need to be very not bulky around the waist 🤔

InvisibleToEveryone · 26/06/2020 20:44

Ooh ooh I've bought these for DD.

Says they're brilliant.
She wears them over her knickers, but you're not supposed to.

veryvery · 26/06/2020 20:45

A culotte slip? As in an underskirt that is like culottes. Amazon have a few.

BabyLlamaZen · 26/06/2020 20:46

Rubbing roll on deodorant between the thighs (but need plenty of applications)
Also lush did something called 'silky underwear'. A powder which really works!
