My thighs hurt after another corporate day in a dress. I think bloomers might be the answer.

After another sweaty day where my thighs have just and so caught each other every time I've moved to 'make a cup of coffee' stand in front of the open fridge in the office kitchen wafting my dress and my knicker elastic is rubbing on my 3day post bikini line trim stubble I feel that there must be a better way.

I'm seriously considering some kind of nice airy bloomers, I'm trying to work out how they could be slimline enough to still be flattering under a dress.

I've tried cycling shorts, cut down leggings etc but surely the whole point of wearing a dress is to avoid the whole sweaty crotch on a hot day issue you get with trousers/leggings.

I've also tried the glidey balm stuff but it makes me feel a bit, icky.

Is it time for a lightweight, non bulky. slimline cotton bloomer revolution? How do we make this happen? I'm thinking like men's boxers but nicer.

@Growingboys

Do you have to wear pants at all? I like going commando in this heat when I wear dresses.
Yes. Periods, normal womanly discharge, crotch sweat etc.

Anything loose and wafty just ends up scrunched up in a sweaty wedge where you don’t want it.
Honestly - tight fitting but lightweight is the answer for big muscular thighs.

ViciousJackdaw · 26/06/2020 23:08

I wear vintage silk tap pants in the summer

Second-hand knickers, you mean? Don't get me wrong, most of my clothes come from charity shops but hell's teeth, not knickers.

Culotte slip is the only readily available option if you want waft. You could shorten them. I hear you, no roll on, no sweaty long tight knickers/cycling shorts the whole point is to feel the breeze. Culotte slip does that.

bridgetreilly · 26/06/2020 23:19

If your knicker elastic is chafing, you need better (and better fitting) knickers. Try some french knickers, maybe?

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 26/06/2020 23:20

Buy some Glide

French knickers offer waft

I wear these: www.mish-online.co.uk/bandelettes/

Very happy with them!

Yes I would have to lengthen the leg slightly to hit the rub area but that might work.

I've a lovely liberty cotton lawn that I've decided is just slightly too busy for a dress.

They do indeed offer waft, and they are beautiful. But despite being a size 10 my inner thigh rub need about 6” inseam in shorts to cover it so sadly French knickers don’t do anything for me Sad they don’t have the length. If you know of some that are that sort of inseam I’d love to see them!

Madein1995 · 26/06/2020 23:33

I love the glide stuff. Yeah it feels a bit unnatural but much better than chafing thighs and I so prefer skirts to trousers in the heat

I've found my people!
Have spent the last few days wondering what to do about my generally sweaty crotch Envy not envy
Feeling glad I'm not the only one

Yes bloomers are definitely the answer. I've been wearing m&s light control cycle short thingys. I've only discovered them this year after years of suffering like you, I've tried other long pants but they've made dresses cling to them. A revelation.

Talc

Snugglepumpkin · 26/06/2020 23:49

These are very good but whether they would be suitable depends on the length of your dress of course.

Has nobody mentioned The Bog Bloomers Company? Brilliant lifesavers

@Justheretobeclear

When I lived in Malaysia (glaringly hot and humid), I had this issue. A German colleague introduced me to a product called Glide. It has honestly and truly saved my life - I've never looked back. (I promise I'm not making any money from selling them haha). You can buy them on Amazon, it's like a deodorant stick that makes your inner thighs slippery so they don't rub
The issue I’ve always had with these types of solutions is they don’t last. Eventually it’ll all dry up/rub off and start rubbing again, usually when I’m not in a position to go and apply more. Only time I use that trick now is when we are going for a swim and the tide is super low so need something to keep me gliding for the walk!
nannytothequeen · 26/06/2020 23:58

I sometimes work in India and Nepal. Very remote. No ac. I forgo all underwear and wear baggy pants that narrow round the ankles. It takes time to get used to undies again when I get home.
