My thighs hurt after another corporate day in a dress. I think bloomers might be the answer.

After another sweaty day where my thighs have just and so caught each other every time I've moved to 'make a cup of coffee' stand in front of the open fridge in the office kitchen wafting my dress and my knicker elastic is rubbing on my 3day post bikini line trim stubble I feel that there must be a better way.

I'm seriously considering some kind of nice airy bloomers, I'm trying to work out how they could be slimline enough to still be flattering under a dress.

I've tried cycling shorts, cut down leggings etc but surely the whole point of wearing a dress is to avoid the whole sweaty crotch on a hot day issue you get with trousers/leggings.

I've also tried the glidey balm stuff but it makes me feel a bit, icky.

Is it time for a lightweight, non bulky. slimline cotton bloomer revolution? How do we make this happen? I'm thinking like men's boxers but nicer.

@InvisibleToEveryone

Ooh ooh I've bought these for DD.

Says they're brilliant.
She wears them over her knickers, but you're not supposed to.

Now. They look very promising.

Unsurprisingly only size 6 and 8 left. I guess people who are those sizes probably aren't inflicted with this issue as much.

Love lush silky underwear, sorted my chaffing!!

AuntieStella · 26/06/2020 20:48

Body Glide

Best anti-chafe product ever. Try running/sports shops

You should try the M&S ones - they are so high up the elastic isn't digging in anywhere near your bikini line. Frankly closer to your ribs and they don't dig in.
M&S also have culotte slips, though unless its a long dress you'd need to hem them

Teacakequeen · 26/06/2020 20:52

I bought some from snagtights after a similar thread. They're really light and soft. I'm really pleased with them. They don't feel tight at all

@Aquamarine1029

These look nice, too.

Right this is exactly what I am looking for but I want nice colours. Pretty patterns.

Like normal knickers I want to be able to buy them them with a matching bra.

I reckon if the supermarkets/ high street could make pretty, flattering bloomers real women would buy them and wear them with joy.

French Knickers ? M &S have some. They had a surge of popularity in the 80s ( men started wearing boxers at the same time) andI remember them being the answer to having to wear smart corporate dresses and skirts in unairconditioned offices in central London.

And they were pretty in a way that the tiny alternative mini briefs weren’t . Didn’t work as well under weekend jeans though.

Ardnassa · 26/06/2020 20:57

And yes, hand washing can be a bit irritating but there is probably a modern alternative :)

What about these? www.thebigbloomerscompany.co.uk/collections/anti-chafing-knickers

InvisibleToEveryone · 26/06/2020 20:59

@Herdwick
I had to go to in to the store to get them.

Iggly · 26/06/2020 20:59

In the summer I actually prefer wearing trousers in the office. Bare legs under a tight dress is my idea of hell.

Has to be decent trousers not made of cheap polyester though!

notso · 26/06/2020 21:01

French knickers and these ?

Mistymonday · 26/06/2020 21:01

Love these! Changed my experience of summer! www.thebigbloomerscompany.co.uk/collections/anti-chafing-knickers

Bandalettes - look em up on Amazon. Cheaper versions under other names aren't as good and roll up a bit.

I cut off a pair of laddered tights - but then I have no money

fascinated · 26/06/2020 21:07

I spose that might be literally the only benefit of a thigh gap

JinglingHellsBells · 26/06/2020 21:09

maybe just buy a bigger size of whatever you wear? My mum wears M&S big girl cotton pants- waisters- so maybe a bigger size? or cut the elastic out of the legs?

Herdwick · 26/06/2020 21:10

Something that has occurred to me during my research into this matter.

What's with all the beige Lycra? In whose world was beige Lycra ever flattering on anyone? Why don't we ever see men's underpants in beige?

JinglingHellsBells · 26/06/2020 21:10

as someone above says what about french knickers in silk? Loose legs and silk is cool.

JinglingHellsBells · 26/06/2020 21:11

Have you checked out posh lingerie shops online too, like rigby and peller for french knickers

Purpleheadgirl · 26/06/2020 21:11

Could you buy cotton pj shorts to wear?

Sgtmajormummy · 26/06/2020 21:14

Sudocrem.
Also good for chapped hands in Winter.
