My thighs hurt after another corporate day in a dress. I think bloomers might be the answer.

After another sweaty day where my thighs have just and so caught each other every time I've moved to 'make a cup of coffee' stand in front of the open fridge in the office kitchen wafting my dress and my knicker elastic is rubbing on my 3day post bikini line trim stubble I feel that there must be a better way.

I'm seriously considering some kind of nice airy bloomers, I'm trying to work out how they could be slimline enough to still be flattering under a dress.

I've tried cycling shorts, cut down leggings etc but surely the whole point of wearing a dress is to avoid the whole sweaty crotch on a hot day issue you get with trousers/leggings.

I've also tried the glidey balm stuff but it makes me feel a bit, icky.

Is it time for a lightweight, non bulky. slimline cotton bloomer revolution? How do we make this happen? I'm thinking like men's boxers but nicer.

Seconding bandalettes. No horrible sweaty long knicker-shorts for me anymore!

Kernowgal · 26/06/2020 22:27

Placemarking - I have always had issues with chafing and it puts me off wearing dresses in the summer. I have leggings but they are far too warm when it's scorchio. I marvel at women of all shapes and sizes who only ever wear summer dresses with bare legs and wonder what their secret is.

You don't have to there are other options. You don't have to trim your bikini line either if it makes you uncomfortable.
I wear big pants, they are perfectly fine. The only time they weren't was the one and only time I had a bikini wax.

I agree with this. My pants are not exactly "big", but they are not minuscule either. I live in the middle of the South Island of NZ and it's hot in summer and I've never had any issues (and I most certainly don't have a thigh gap!)

ASDA'S liquid talc works wonders

justponderingg · 26/06/2020 22:32

Liquid talc

Northernsoullover · 26/06/2020 22:34

Ooh bloomers! Yes! I'd love some too. I remember those knickers in the 80's that a PP is talking about but if I remember correctly they weren't french knickers as such. Satin knickers with a scalloped/flared leg? They did indeed let your bits air in spite of the 100% man made fabric.

Kiki275 · 26/06/2020 22:35

Asda liquid talc is brilliant. Comes in a tube which is perfect for handbags. I suffered for years before I tried it x

Northernsoullover · 26/06/2020 22:36

They are indeed French knickers. I thought French knickers were shorts Blush

Chicchicchicchiclana · 26/06/2020 22:38

Am so thankful not to suffer with these various sweaty upper thigh and crotch related knicker type issues with a side order of bikini lines. You poor things.

BrandNewShinyThings · 26/06/2020 22:40

OP I want what you want.
I do not want tight fitting shorts. I sweat a lot down there and I also have huge thighs. If you ever go into business making wafty cotton bloomers that don't look ridiculous under dresses I will pay you a large sum of money for them.

Gingaaarghpussy · 26/06/2020 22:42

I've found anti chafing thigh bands bought from amazon are good.

BrandNewShinyThings · 26/06/2020 22:42

Oh and also I do not want:
Polyester
Lace
Talcum powder
Cream
Cycling shorts
Cut off tights

I have seen all of these suggested on similar threads and tried most of them and they do not work.

Another fan of chub rub ones from Snag Tights!

BoffinMum · 26/06/2020 22:44

Very Handmaid's Tale but oh so tempting in this weather. www.modestapparelusa.com/collections/undergarments-and-sleepwear/products/culotte-slip

duckme · 26/06/2020 22:45

I've spent the last few days searching for something that prevents the chub rub but doesn't make me a sweaty mess! Why has no one invented crotch less chub rub shorts?!

LunaLoveFood · 26/06/2020 22:47

Big bloomer company make amazing shorts which stay put and don't ride up .

BingIsAMassiveTwat · 26/06/2020 22:50

Another vote for bandallettes! And going commando to avoid the knicker rub.

Atthebottomofthegarden · 26/06/2020 22:55

What about these?

Or Sainsbury’s do a cheaper version of the bandallettes

BrandNewShinyThings · 26/06/2020 22:57

No no no to bandalettes. They rub, they are sweaty, they are made of lace and stretchy man made stuff and they cling to my thighs and leave marks.
OP I apologise, I have unashamedly hijacked your thread.

Growingboys · 26/06/2020 22:58

Do you have to wear pants at all? I like going commando in this heat when I wear dresses.

RideaCockHorseOfCourse · 26/06/2020 23:00

This lady makes all sorts of bloomers, (even crotchless Grin ) pettipants, petticoats, in all sorts of colours in cool poly cotton or I expect pretty much any material you like. I bought a brightly coloured rock n' roll petticoat from her, it was lovely & far less sweaty than dancing in those frothy, meringue-like synthetic petticoats. (Not that there's any dances going on at the mo. Hmm )
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191404775808 Loads of different ones on her listings.

averysuitablegirl · 26/06/2020 23:01

Growingboys do you do that at work?

I went into the front garden and had a conversation with my neighbour today and suddenly realised that I didn't have any knickers on.

Don't think I could quite manage it at work!

WorryWartOne · 26/06/2020 23:06

Well the bandalettes have worked well for me for the past two summers 🙂

SoupDragon · 26/06/2020 23:06

But why should I rub deodorant etc onto my thighs significantly increasing my risk of thrush

Thrush on your thighs?

As you say you can sew, making your own knickers is probably the way to go though.
