Major Incident in Glasgow

INeedAHol · 26/06/2020 14:09

I can hear nothing but sirens from my flat.

Have read that it appears to be a terrorist attack, but not confirmed. At least 3 dead. Glasgow city centre. Just awful Sad

OP posts:
Mollypolly2610 · 26/06/2020 14:10

It’s live on Sky News now

Nicknacky · 26/06/2020 14:10

Absolutely dreadful. Also rumours of a police officer stabbed.

AHintOfStyle · 26/06/2020 14:17

Multiple stabbings

Nicknacky · 26/06/2020 14:24

Police federation have confirmed an officer stabbed. I’m in tears.

INeedAHol · 26/06/2020 14:24

It's just awful. Apparently the suspect has been shot?

OP posts:
morethanafortnight · 26/06/2020 14:29

Oh no, not again Sad

MissRabbitIsExhausted · 26/06/2020 14:30

It's awful Sad
I do try not to believe too much until it's confirmed by the news, but it doesn't look good. So frightening.

morethanafortnight · 26/06/2020 14:40

It's on the BBC news website now as well.

mbosnz · 26/06/2020 14:43

My heart goes out to you up there. It's so hard to process when it's in your neck of the woods (I'm Reading based, and from Christchurch in NZ).

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/06/2020 14:44

I think it's unlikely to be a terrorist attack as the hotel was closed to the public and being used to house asylum seekers (in very poor conditions).

weegiemum · 26/06/2020 14:45

It looks awful, we're in South Glasgow and just getting it through the news now.

We're such a friendly place, hard to think of something like this happening here.

ssd · 26/06/2020 14:46

Awful. Poor souls.

StealthPolarBear · 26/06/2020 14:47

Oh I hadn't got the impression it was a terrorist attack. Time will tell I suppose.

Nicknacky · 26/06/2020 14:50

This is the third Police Scotland officer stabbed in less than two weeks.

I’m a police officer in Police Scotland and frankly in feeling sick to my stomach about the anti police sentiment there has been lately and yet we run towards incidents and risk our lives on the line to help the poor souls like today who have sadly died as a result of terrible violence.

My thoughts to all that have died and have been hurt, and to my colleague. I’m hearing rumours on the police private fb pages and I pray they are inaccurate.

mbosnz · 26/06/2020 14:50

Neither had I, though I can see why someone might thought that I had! I was referring to violent incidents leading to multiple deaths in general.

Lola001 · 26/06/2020 14:50

They have just said on LBC the suspect was shot dead.

morethanafortnight · 26/06/2020 14:50

Time will tell I suppose
Yes, no point in speculating.

Mrsemcgregor · 26/06/2020 14:51

This is a good point, it would be closed to the public. Sky news keep saying it’s likely terror related though. Which is strange because there’s nothing currently to suggest it is. We shall find out soon enough.
Nicknacky · 26/06/2020 14:51

Confirmed the suspect and 3 people have died.

amusedbush · 26/06/2020 14:52

We’re in the east end of Glasgow, I just read about it a few minutes ago Sad

Valambtine · 26/06/2020 14:55

Terrorists can fuck off. We have enough to contend with right now. Poor, poor people

FedHimtoTigers1990 · 26/06/2020 14:58

Horrific.
Thoughts with everyone involved.
So much respect for the police and all emergency services dealing with this. Must be very frightening.

mbosnz · 26/06/2020 14:59

Dammit, I feel I have started a chain of thought, that it was a terrorist attack. That is not what I was implying, and I'm sorry if anyone has taken it as such. Other posters are so correct in saying that this sort of speculation really isn't helpful.

nicknacky, I'm so sorry, it must be hella hard being a police officer, particularly right now. I'm sure the vast majority of people are appreciative of the courage of the police, and their efforts to keep us safe and our communities crime free. I know I am.

My heart goes out to those that have so senselessly lost their lives, and their families, friends, and communities.

derxa · 26/06/2020 15:03
Sad
ssd · 26/06/2020 15:04

Hope it's got nothing to do with the protests in George Square being hijacked by right wing nutters.
