Bournemouth beach - “Major incident”

BebeGlazer · 25/06/2020 15:07

The local police and council have now declared that Bournemouth beach is scene of “major incident” because people will not stay away. Overcrowding, littering, desperately dangerous parking.

Please, please, think kindly before travelling to small seaside towns at the moment. We cannot cope.

Wtf?! That is insane! Who would want to spend a day in that crowd?

Samcro · 25/06/2020 15:10

people are mad. seems the sun comes out and they forget covid.
(I wouldn't call Bournemouth small)

Devlesko · 25/06/2020 15:11

So sorry for the people who live there who feel they can't use the public services they pay for.
It's disgusting, send them home.
This is why Wales needs to stay closed to tourists from outside.

EnlightenedOwl · 25/06/2020 15:12

People are not working ie either made redundant or furloughed. Or out of college and school. Hemmed in for months subject to ridiculous restrictions. Now there is disorder and civil unrest. Highly predictable going to get worse.

Roselilly36 · 25/06/2020 15:14

Brighton beaches are the same, second peak in seaside locations?

Muffinbutton · 25/06/2020 15:15

Bournemouth Beach is part of a 7 mile stretch. It's bursting to capacity and the traffic has a knock on effect through the conurbation and beyond. Beach traffic clogs up the roads for miles and miles. The A31 goes through the New Forest National Park and tonight it'll be backed up for miles, adding time to local's journeys and polluting the national park with their car fumes and the rubbish that gets chucked out the windows!
It's so sad that people can't be respectful and stay away.

BebeGlazer · 25/06/2020 15:15

Well we only have one small hospital and a population of about 180k, so relatively small I think. But certainly we cannot cope with this. We have been relatively lucky with covid in Bournemouth so far, but this has the potential to devastate us

Why are they attacking the bin emptiers??

EnlightenedOwl · 25/06/2020 15:16

Get a grip

BebeGlazer · 25/06/2020 15:17

Who should get a grip?

OP posts:
BebeGlazer · 25/06/2020 15:18

Who should get a grip? The volunteers who are trying to clean up who are being spat at? Or the police who are trying to keep calm? The ambulances who can’t get through because of cars parked illegally?

That whole area has beach all along. Many on the new forest Dorset border will be empty. People are so unimaginative it hurts.

Mumoblue · 25/06/2020 15:18

I don't know why anyone would want to visit an over crowded beach in a pandemic. I've seen the pictures of the crowds and I feel sick just looking at them.

I hate summer anyway, so I'm hiding in the shade all summer.

I don’t know why OP should get a grip, can you imagine not being able to step foot outside your door for other people who have driven in as well as 8 TONNES of rubbish.

People on here get annoyed when someone parks incorrectly near their house, imagine how annoying all those extra people, cars and rubbish are near your house.

Devlesko · 25/06/2020 15:22

I thought the virus was destroying the country, in it's thousands. I take it none of your loved ones have been ill or even died EnlightenedOwl

BebeGlazer · 25/06/2020 15:23

There are two issues I think - (a) the fear of spreading the virus further (b) the danger created by the scene today. Both valid I think.

I worry actually ‘EnlightenedOwl’ that people are so desperate to not be “coronaphobes’ that they have created a major public health incident today.

Sirens going non-stop here (half a mile from beach)

EnlightenedOwl · 25/06/2020 15:23

I've actually had it myself .

gotothecooler · 25/06/2020 15:23

It's been declared a major incident and someone is telling OP to get a grip Hmm

Honestly I despair.

EnlightenedOwl · 25/06/2020 15:24

I'm just glad people are voting with their feet and not putting up with this crap any more

SisterAgatha · 25/06/2020 15:25

Would you say get a grip if someone put a sofa in your skip? Or fly tipped on your drive? Now try 8 tonnes.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve had it tbh, what matters is that you think all that shit in the sea is cool Confused

Pascha · 25/06/2020 15:26

The a259 near us is now closed due to overcrowding at Camber sands (which is tiny) so I can imagine your area is ten times worse, OP.

I can't think of nything less pleasant than a day at the beach right now.

BebeGlazer · 25/06/2020 15:26

You’re glad that twice yesterday an ambulance was obstructed from getting to a very ill patient because people had “voted with their feet” and gone to the beach?

How do you sleep at night?

OP posts:
Dyrne · 25/06/2020 15:27

I saw photos of yesterday and to be honest it looks like my worst nightmare even without the Pandemic.

Why the hell would you want to travel in a hot stuffy car to get to a place where you’re crammed in with 1000s of other people and get sand everywhere before travelling back and getting stuck in traffic with 1000s of cars in this heat?!?

Add on the COVID risk and it’s absolute madness.
