Bournemouth beach - “Major incident”

BebeGlazer · 25/06/2020 15:07

The local police and council have now declared that Bournemouth beach is scene of “major incident” because people will not stay away. Overcrowding, littering, desperately dangerous parking.

Please, please, think kindly before travelling to small seaside towns at the moment. We cannot cope.

You say putting up with this crap, unselfish people say saving lives by keeping numbers down.

The virus looks at those idiots and just sees fresh meat.

LudaMusser · 25/06/2020 15:28

Very concerning

I don't think it has a thought process....just saying
BoakBackMountain · 25/06/2020 15:31

If they opened schools they wouldn't have this.

Laburnam · 25/06/2020 15:31

Appalled!
And they say the police are going to be patrolling pubs and restaurants when they open!
Yeah right

EnlightenedOwl · 25/06/2020 15:31

And ended furlough

SisterAgatha · 25/06/2020 15:31

I don’t think those people on the beach have much of a thought process either Wink

Shelley54 · 25/06/2020 15:32

We live on the south coast too. Never seen anything like today - cars everywhere.

SleepingStandingUp · 25/06/2020 15:33

Pandemic aside, how is this a fun way to spend the day?

Nancydrawn · 25/06/2020 15:33

Coronaphobes is an appalling phrase. I'm glad that you survived your illness. Many did not. Many will not.

People are going to make decisions about getting back to life because they have to. It's not phobic to wish that they would make smarter decisions to stop other people from dying. Ffs.

morethanafortnight · 25/06/2020 15:33

Anyone who seriously wants to go and sit on a packed beach with hundreds of thousands of other people on the hottest day of the year with the highest predicted UV burn rating in the UK of all time; completely inadequate toilet facilities and almost nowhere to buy food or drink must need their heads examined.

How else would you describe them?
OldQueen1969 · 25/06/2020 15:34

Another Bournemouthian here having been treated to siren after siren heading towards the beach today.....

While the virus is a high priority, the collective insanity that seems to be kicking off is really worrying. My sensible 25 year old son is staying well away from the town centre because there is a real feeling of tension in the crowds..... alcohol, extreme heat and sudden release from captivity is a really explosive combination.

I'm staying well away.

ilovebagpuss · 25/06/2020 15:37

I live in a tiny West Midlands “beauty spot” and it’s a nightmare the crowds, littering and clearing out the only food shop. Human waste left behind when the public loos close it seems everyone has gone feral.

twittawoo3 · 25/06/2020 15:38

Living locally to Bournemouth and I wish they would close the beaches. The scenes here yesterday were ridiculous. Emergency vehicles not able to get through and having to be turned away from the ferry because of the sheer volume of vehicles the other side. Hope they all had a nice day at the beach though 🤦🏻‍♀️

ihatethecold · 25/06/2020 15:39

wow, that photo is something else.

SisterAgatha · 25/06/2020 15:39

Your short and non nuanced responses remind me of “I know I am, but what are you?” unenlightenedowl

Tell us, how should OP get a grip? Try more than 5 words Smile

SirVixofVixHall · 25/06/2020 15:39

I am so worried my nearest beach will soon be like this, it is getting increasingly packed, even though we are in Wales.

Mrswalliams1 · 25/06/2020 15:39

How many of these people stood at their door on Thursday evening clapping the NHS? What a bunch of Hippocrates.

BrieAndChilli · 25/06/2020 15:39

Even non pandemic times going somewhere parking illegally and leaving a shit tonne of rubbish and probably literal shit seeing as toilets aren’t open as much, is disgusting.
By all means go somewhere for the day, but for gods sake park legally and sensibly and make sure emergency services can get past and not whether it shortens your walk to the beach and take everything home with you - All you rubbish of bins are full. Be a bloody responsible citizen instead of a bunch of pigs

Ickabog · 25/06/2020 15:40

@Dyrne

I saw photos of yesterday and to be honest it looks like my worst nightmare even without the Pandemic.

Why the hell would you want to travel in a hot stuffy car to get to a place where you’re crammed in with 1000s of other people and get sand everywhere before travelling back and getting stuck in traffic with 1000s of cars in this heat?!?

Add on the COVID risk and it’s absolute madness.

Agreed.
IAmPartOfTheHerd · 25/06/2020 15:40

sshhh

Bournemouth beach - “Major incident”
mrpumblechook · 25/06/2020 15:41

The problem is that people probably spent hours sitting in traffic jams to get there and would have to do the same to leave. No surprise that they don't turn around and go home when they get there. They are pretty much trapped.

Porcupineinwaiting · 25/06/2020 15:41

"Calamity has come on you, my brethren, and, my brethren, you deserve it"

Albert Camus. From "The Plague" ironically.

SirVixofVixHall · 25/06/2020 15:41

Eight TONS of waste on one tiny stretch !! What is wrong with people ?
