Here's a new thread for discussing aircon, aubergines, and Goth music.

Aww Scotland..so sorry to hear about your awful weather. It’s quite nice here at the moment
Let’s see if it stays that way to eat lunch outside.

Re..conspiracy theories..I’m pretty open minded about them. When I met David Icke in my 40s it was a bit of an eye opener, a push I needed if anything to consider anything other than what the main news streams fed us,.
Obviously, he working for the BBC was very much aware of what was really going on , stuff that we just weren’t privy to and as a homemaker and child rearer for the previous two decades to be honest, I wasn’t that aware of what was going on anyway.
Some of the things he mentioned way back then seemed outrageous ( some still are) but he’s been spot on with his Problem. reaction. Solution theory.
We’ve seen it played out on here, people begging for a harder lockdown for example.
When I listened to his first talk , I don’t think even micro chipping of pets had even begun And cash was still the main currency and now that is under threat.
I think one or two of the grandsons are coming today which is fabulous.

Sounds like Doris Nextdoor has already got hers round . She’s a good’un.

I’m expecting to be booted out of one of my Fb groups today cos I’m sick of bullshit.

I’m so sick of this ‘ until it’s safe’ baloney.

OhFuckOffWithTheBubbleBollocks · 23/06/2020 10:54

I'm behind you all but I want to join in the ventilator chat as I know you will all appreciate this...

When the CV Kicking Off threads were at their height on MN (but it actually seems we are plateauing, possibly that wasn't even the peak Wink) I was on a thread about Irresponsible Selfish Shielding People going out (I don't think it was the garden centre thread, but maybe it was?)

There was a discussion about if you go out and murder yourself when you've been advised to stay in, you aren't worthy of a hospital bed and shouldn't expect a ventilator. And someone, to prove their point, actually posted the NICE (?) guidelines to prove that people with my condition wouldn't be ventilated anyway so we should be staying in.

Well OK, some people may think that's a reasonable thing to post but I actually found it quite upsetting due to the sheer meanness of it - I mean I am realistic and I know these things anyway but it just seemed so gleeful. Because it wasn't in anyway due to genuine concern for me, they were using it to prove a point, IYSWIM (probably not Grin) and there was a real tone of neeenaaah. You're going to die and I will be right, yay! (Plus even if you know something, seeing it in black and white, especially being used against you, unexpectedly is upsetting).

Im sure I don't need to say it, but I like the tongue in cheek "off on a murdering spree" tone of this thread and that was (obviously) completely different. Plus you're not all complete bell ends Grin

Anyway. The thread has probably moved on to something completely different by the time I finish typing!

PS I'm not even going to mention the total bollocks of the shielding thing. I'm going to buy more cake instead. I'm thinking carrot cake, just because no one else in my house likes it so I get it eat it ALL Wink

PinkFondantFancy · 23/06/2020 10:56

Bonjour all! Placemarking on the shiny new thread. About 20 pages too late for this particular convo but I've been around I think about 9 years. Found a amazing support here after MC and agree, this group feels very much the same!

Feeling hacked off about the school situation. No key worker spaces for my child so we'll have to carry on muddling along. We've made it this far so we'll be ok I guess. I don't want a 'key worker' space anyway, I just want everyone to be back at school. In good news I've trained my children to make good coffee so that will be a downside of schools reopening - I'll have to make my own flipping coffee Grin

PinkFondantFancy · 23/06/2020 10:57

And agree on the point about anti-vaxx. It's like if you ask questions you must be ANTI. Nope, I just ask questions about everything!!

TheGreatWave · 23/06/2020 11:00

We have a ceiling fan in the conservatory, ok when it is just a little stuffy, but otherwise it just waffs around hot air.

I have booked Thursday off work, planning to go to the beach, might as well.

mylittleyumyum · 23/06/2020 11:02

My friend brought her 77 year old shielding mother to my DD's birthday gathering on Saturday (Tiki party, remember? Turns out 12 year olds aren't fussed by games after all, they just wanted to eat pizza and do TikToks...) and she used her mask as a coaster for her Hawaiian Punch :) It was the first time she has been in company since January, and she sat and beamed happily all afternoon, telling me "I needed this, if I die tomorrow, I'll remember today"

chocolatesweets · 23/06/2020 11:03

Losing patience today. Life needs to move again.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 23/06/2020 11:04

bubbles if it’s any consolation I’m not worthy enough of a ventilator either due to my BMI. They only tell me to be HELPFUL and because they care. Didn’t someone use the word “smunt” last week? Tbh it just makes me want to fall face first into a caterpillar cake. 😁

I don’t know how people are keeping going. I’m self-employed and all my work is online but I just can’t pull my head out of my arse and get my thinking head back on.

Caterpillar cakes for ALL the women trying to work from the kitchen table whilst small people jibber-jabber and make each other bleed.

Cattermole · 23/06/2020 11:04

Good moaning my fellow serial killers!

DH has gone on a killing spree to Aldi (God knows what he's going to come back with, 15Kg of plain flour and a wood chipper probably) and it's getting warm here.

I'm only bookmarking really cos my head is in 1664, trying to work out how my usually not romantic fictional hero actually does get together with his equally not romantic missus. I've been promising that short story for some years now and it's never quite come out right, but it seems to be unwinding itself this morning...

torydeathdrug · 23/06/2020 11:05

Morning despicable people! Smile

I actually found it quite upsetting due to the sheer meanness of it - I mean I am realistic and I know these things anyway but it just seemed so gleeful.

^ @OhFuckOffWithTheBubbleBollocks that’s a particular mn demographic - oh how they love putting the boot in all the time with smug self righteous sanctimony. They are useless bastards through & through, & can’t disguise their weakness, selfishness & cowardice.

mylittleyumyum · 23/06/2020 11:08

I am not anti-vax, I have been brought up hearing that anti-vaxxers are evil, stupid, selfish etc and have never actually looked enough into it to make my own decisions....

However my alternative friend told me about a whistle-blower who claims that one of the Covid-19 vaccines currently being tested has caused infertility in 90% of the test subjects.

Obviously I don't know where he read this, and I was immediately sceptical, but having slept on it, I want to know more.

IF this is the case, does it fit with some shadowy organisation's plans to reduce the population?

Will independent studies be thrown out?

Will we be 'forced' to have the vaccine - be told we cannot travel without having it, cannot work without having it?

I am hungry for more information!

Ibake · 23/06/2020 11:09

@yumyum can't believe you didn't proceed with my lei/daisy chain suggestion. Feeling quite hurt actuallyWink
My app hates me today and won't 'watch' this thread. Anyone else? I'm having to go in via back door ie link from old and it's just the sort of technical bollox designed to make me get very cross/start drinking early

Ibake · 23/06/2020 11:12

Blimey @yumyum you wrote that whilst I was wittering on re daisy chains! That would definitely raise the whole Gilead thing again - I quite enjoyed the 'handmaid, Martha or Jezebel?' thread. Although you lot would be straight on that bloody wall.

SeagoingSexpot · 23/06/2020 11:15

However my alternative friend told me about a whistle-blower who claims that one of the Covid-19 vaccines currently being tested has caused infertility in 90% of the test subjects

I would be highly, highly sceptical about this, for some obvious and some not so obvious reasons. Male infertility or female infertility? It's very very unlikely that something would affect both. The vaccine trials haven't been going on for long, so how would they even know this yet? Why would this effect appear given the basic vaccine has already been extensively human tested? How exactly would they expect to suppress this news given the high profile of all the vaccine trials globally? How would the clinicians and researchers involved be persuaded to keep quiet?

People are biased and imperfect, and commercial and political interests absolutely play a role in science, but when a theory relies on people essentially being heartless monsters, it's probably not a realistic theory.

fartingsparkles · 23/06/2020 11:17

I reckon I've been here about ten years, around when I started ttc. Definitely pre penis beaker (which I just thought was embarrassing). I remember there have always been 'those posters' on threads. One that sticks in my head is a thread about cbeebies programmes that you didn't enjoy. Someone said they found Mr Tumble slightly irritating, and another poster went off on one, saying they obviously were terrible as they didn't want to see disability on kids tv, or have their kids see it. No they just found d the whole Tumble family a bit annoying. Now I fear the 2and poster would get a lot more support.

We have a ceiling fan in our living room, as it is south facing and gets very stuffy in the sun. I like a bit of air con when it gets very hot. A quick blast in the car does wonders.

Scampi Nik naks remind me of secondary school. Scampi fries are a pub snack. Cheesy moments were my preference!

@Hester hope the migraine desists asap.

TheGreatWave · 23/06/2020 11:20

I came to MN after being sucked in via a MLM thread on the money topic. Until then I had been on another parenting site since pregnancy with the 14 year old. I name change regularly, the consequence of over sharing.

On a good note (well as good as it ever seems to get, whilst actually not being good) the big one (14) is having a morning in school in a couple of weeks. I fear though that having shot up like a beanstalk since mid March her trousers will be halfway up to her knees.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 23/06/2020 11:21

WRT infertility - there were rumblings quite early (feb ?) about male infertility being a long-term health implication of covid. It’ll all come out in the wash I suppose.

No. I don’t have a source or peer-reviewed paper for you. Nor to my knowledge has it been printed in the guardian.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 23/06/2020 11:21

I’ve been here long enough to remember the thread where a couple of people admit to having shagged mr tumble!

chocolatesweets · 23/06/2020 11:23

I've vaccinated my kids but 100% believe it is and should always be personal choice. I think we are heading into health discrimination. Everyone will need to scan their health chips before entering.

Nihiloxica · 23/06/2020 11:27

Oh god forbid you criticise the Great Tumble Shock

My eldest hated that programme and therefore, I wasn't arsed with it.

My second two both loved it and watching it with them I realised how bonkers clever it was.

The adult me always loved the idea of a programme aimed at children with special needs and that featured them front and centre. But it just didn't appeal to one of my kids. I don't know why.

I think she found Justin annoying. And didn't enjoy him pretending to be all the characters.

Any vaccine is initially going to the over 50s so infertility won't matter

Cattermole · 23/06/2020 11:28

Jesus @InsaneInTheViralMembrane shagging Mr Tumble what even????
I mean it'd be like being on a bouncy castle?

Ah, there you are.

Had an interesting chat with my Mum this morning. She told me that her next door neighbour (who is in her early forties) is absolutely petrified of catching Covid. And is now convinced that they live in a really dangerous area (because people keep driving along their road with loud music and the windows open).

My Mum (who is quite worried about Covid because of various health stuff - plus my Dad is quite sick) was rather bemused by this.

Nihiloxica · 23/06/2020 11:29

@Cattermole

Jesus *@InsaneInTheViralMembrane* shagging Mr Tumble what even???? I mean it'd be like being on a bouncy castle?
In fairness, shagging me would be like that after all my lockdown crisps. Sad
