Here's a new thread for discussing aircon, aubergines, and Goth music.

@SeagoingSexpot

It's Neilson active holidays. DH is a sailing freak and it's the highlight of his year. Plus a rare chance for grownup time and recreation as they have such good kids clubs. I know, we are lucky to be able to afford something like that and nobody will cry us much of a river. But it was something both of us were holding onto. Sigh.
I'll cry you a river.

I would love to be madly jealous of you heading off to such a cool holiday.

At least SOMEONE would be having a good time. HmmWink

I'm the same @Teateaandmoretea

Orangeblossom78 · 25/06/2020 15:56

Anti drama Anti dementors?

Ibake · 25/06/2020 15:58

@countrygirl99

Re Bournemouth, what on earth do people expect when kids are off school, a lot are still furloughed, the weather is hot and there is chuff all else to do? If the authorities weren't expecting and planning for this they should all resign now and be replaced by the people on this thread.
Lol, can you just imagine? I think we'd do an excellent job!
Ibake · 25/06/2020 15:59

Can I be in charge of the mike? I'd just drive up and down saying 'have fun, play nice and take your fucking litter home you dirty scrotes'

Nihiloxica · 25/06/2020 16:04

Defo something about Bournemouth.

God that thread is vile.

I keep forgetting that for some people lockdown is all about keeping the riff raff out of their nice areas.

This is me, when I get hot and bothered.

ADs too cool for air con?
mylittleyumyum · 25/06/2020 16:05

I feel your pain re holidays. I should be on a flight to Turkey right now, and I have been forced by work to take my holidays anyway so it's a double slap in the face. Forecast after today is ten days of rain. When I return from Los Gardenios or Costa Couch in two weeks I have no more holidays to look forward to as work also make us use a week to 'supplement our furlough'.
I feel very, very sorry for myself right now, and very envious of DH who gets to leave the house to go to work and has 4 weeks of annual leave to take whenever he likes.

SeagoingSexpot · 25/06/2020 16:05

So the "incident on the beach" was not some kind of Covid outbreak or violence or racism or something, but a traffic jam?! Christ alive.

I do love Neilson holidays. We used to get away with going off-peak, but now we're stuck with school holidays like everyone else and we pay an eye-bleeding amount for our holiday. But DH gets to dinghy-race, I get to cycle, we get to have a drink together and remember how to talk to each other, and the kids have a cracking time with the beach and the pool and the other children.

AnxiousElephant77 · 25/06/2020 16:06

@Livinlavidaloki I'm so thankful that someone can explain it all, I have no idea about it all, it's too hot for my brain.

We're going in October with Jet2 as well. I'm meant to be going with Ryanair in August so
I doubt that'll be cancelled, the money grabbing buffoon that he is.

ButterMeCrumpets · 25/06/2020 16:08

Bournemouth is always hell this time of year when the weather is nice. More people off work will mean more people will enjoy themselves.

I am used to the Bournemouth traffic every year and just try and avoid driving anywhere near a 50 mile radius (it really does affect all the towns around it).

Do I think it will cause a spike in cases. No unless everyone is slobbering all over each other which is highly unlikely. Do I resent the picture? Ummm a little as I am working as normal Grin

TheGreatWave · 25/06/2020 16:12

I have returned from my evil trip to the beach, I am not sure what my punishment should be for my selfish c*ery behaviour, where I have put my interests above the health of others.

You know what if they were pleasant about it when they did all the "doomed, we're all doomed" act I would engage nicely. I don't think I should when the above is the limit of their arguments.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 25/06/2020 16:16

Afternoon all.

Ahh Bournemouth beach. I don't know why everybody's up in arms about it, it's supposed to have been Glastonbury this weekend. Seems like somewhere else has the traffic joy that we have to put up with every year. On the bright side, there's no helicopters going over my house this weekend.

Mascotte · 25/06/2020 16:18

@countrygirl99 rages what I thought, bugger all else to do!

Blobby10 · 25/06/2020 16:22

I'm just depressed because my situation at work means that I wont get any holidays this year for more than a day tacked onto a weekend Sad so cant even look forward to a week camping in Cornwall

Bollss · 25/06/2020 16:26

With starting a new job I'm assuming I won't get much holiday so perhaps a week off at some point, which will likely get used in the school holidays as dp is covering the first part time week of school.

Worldgonecrazy · 25/06/2020 16:26

I think if I’d been furloughed, holidays cancelled and facing job insecurity I’d be making sandcastles on a beach too. We can’t blame people for taking the small joys while they can. I think there’s a lot of snobbery involved too.

AnxiousElephant77 · 25/06/2020 16:27

Lordy that thread telling everyone to stay in has blown my mind.

Teateaandmoretea · 25/06/2020 16:28

You can hardly blame people for going to the beach can you? I sure as hell would if I actually lived vaguely near one

Teateaandmoretea · 25/06/2020 16:29

Lordy that thread telling everyone to stay in has blown my mind.

The woman is clearly on drugs, which has been pointed out by several people on the thread. It’s just Confused that people think posting this crap is remotely reasonable

Cattermole · 25/06/2020 16:30

Jesus.
COME TO ST AGNES PEOPLE, COME TO THE CAFE ON THE BEACH THERE - she does takeouts....

AnxiousElephant77 · 25/06/2020 16:32

Isn't it interesting how the tide has turned on here, as we predicted it would about 15 threads ago.

Orangeblossom78 · 25/06/2020 16:33

I kind of thought the beach dementing was over, now but it seems not

Orangeblossom78 · 25/06/2020 16:33

Yes there is a distinct lack of mass dementor pile-ons wailing - just a few now more general ones.
