Here's a new thread for discussing aircon, aubergines, and Goth music.

No thick wavy hair here
Thin and poker straight

Teateaandmoretea · 25/06/2020 14:58

Mines thin too, it makes it much easier to cut

NothingIsWrong · 25/06/2020 15:08

Thick but poker straight here. Generally looks limp and flat without a good cut, but super unforgiving. So hairdresser my only option

MY END OF AUG HOLIDAY HAS BEEN CANCELED SadSad

Fucking gutted. We couldn't afford much of a holiday last year and we were just really holding out for enough restoration of normality after so much shitty stress to be able to relax in the sun. No go. All holidays cancelled thru 31st Aug and there's a slim chance we might be able to do Oct half term in Greece. I have slim to no interest in a UK holiday after the way most tourist areas here have responded and it's a bit same shit, different location Vs just staying home.

Sigh.

AnxiousElephant77 · 25/06/2020 15:20

@SeagoingSexpot So sorry to hear that shitty news. Who is that with?

SeagoingSexpot · 25/06/2020 15:25

It's Neilson active holidays. DH is a sailing freak and it's the highlight of his year. Plus a rare chance for grownup time and recreation as they have such good kids clubs. I know, we are lucky to be able to afford something like that and nobody will cry us much of a river. But it was something both of us were holding onto. Sigh.

AnxiousElephant77 · 25/06/2020 15:32
Sad

I see cases and sadly died levels are up today so MN will not be a good place this evening.

Maybe best to get a big gin and sit in the garden instead.

AnxiousElephant77 · 25/06/2020 15:32

Also there will be much drama over what's happened in Bournemouth I would expect.

We can cry you a river worth sailing down, and then you can have fun upon it.

We're allowed to feel all the ups and downs no matter how big or small. That's one of the things that drew us together.

The lack of specific things to look forwards to and punctuate life with is tough.

PinkFondantFancy · 25/06/2020 15:40

Sorry to hear that @SeagoingSexpot, such a disappointment :( I'll keep everything crossed for you for Oct half term

Teateaandmoretea · 25/06/2020 15:41

@SeagoingSexpot that’s shit Sad

LivinLaVidaLoki · 25/06/2020 15:41

@AnxiousElephant77

Ive just seen the ONS update and the data on there shows an increase in cases in the community, their graphs show an uptick. Only in the explanatory text do they explain that there is an overlap of 5 days from the previous data, so there are 5 days that were reported last week, that are reported again this week.

I hate that my first thought was "Oh great, they dementors are gonna LOVE this......we all went to Primark and everyone is gonna get Covid"

I suppose that's the risk with publishing all the data, its then taken and interpreted by people who don't understand it. If you are going to publish it for the general public to look at then you need to be consistent.

ADs too cool for air con?

@SeagoingSexpot. That sucks. I had a look at their website and it looks amazing.

We have October booked but are a bit worried it might get cancelled as it’s with Jet2holidays so I’m hoping our flights aren’t amongst those being cancelled.

The dementoring in-laws have taken to texting me about Bournemouth now. I think they’ve realised I muted them all again on facefuck. So now the buggers are texting me. Gin is probably the answer. Although I am tempted to head for the beach after work and hide in the dunes with the gin. I’m not in Bournemouth so it doesn’t countSmile
Worldgonecrazy · 25/06/2020 15:44

@LivinLaVidaLoki does that mean 5 days are double counted?

Orangeblossom78 · 25/06/2020 15:44

Could try Sunsail? They go lovely places Smile

BogRollBOGOF · 25/06/2020 15:44

Is gridlock fron tourist traffic really a "major incident?"

We had gridlock in the city several times over the winter from things like rising flood water.

I'd love to go to the beach but don't fancy the aggro of hours of driving, uncertainty over parking etc and being somewhere packed out. I like a few hours somewhere quiet. I'd normally go west to Wales and it's not much more bother than the usual east to Skeg from this part of the world.

countrygirl99 · 25/06/2020 15:45

Re Bournemouth, what on earth do people expect when kids are off school, a lot are still furloughed, the weather is hot and there is chuff all else to do? If the authorities weren't expecting and planning for this they should all resign now and be replaced by the people on this thread.

Orangeblossom78 · 25/06/2020 15:45

When I saw incident on the beach I worked it was another terrorist attack it was so dramatic. But no just busy. Hmm

BogRollBOGOF · 25/06/2020 15:45

We need a new thread title soon...

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 25/06/2020 15:47

The dementors are loving Bournemouth aren't they? I think the crowds look absolutely hideous but that's just because I hate crowds. People have been scared and shut in for months, of course they are flocking to the sea on a hot day. We need people back at work and allowed abroad again so things are less pressured on places like this. My FB is full of talk of 'covidiots' but I'm so over all the effing judgement. I feel for the locals and ambulances not having access to anywhere they need to get but it's all so so overblown.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 25/06/2020 15:49

@Worldgonecrazy, no they have shaved some off the last two weeks count and then started this count at the point that one now cuts off.
Essentially they have moved the goalposts as they used to do this every two weeks now it is every week, so they have shuffled things around.

It does say in the supporting text that they've no reason to believe it has increased.

Cattermole · 25/06/2020 15:50

Also @LivinLaVidaLoki that's IT???

That's the uptick from duplicated data?
(Also 2 outbreaks in schools more than there were last week - gasp.)

Teateaandmoretea · 25/06/2020 15:52

I think all the numbers now are bollocks tbh. I need to stop looking at them. But I can’t help it because I’m an idiot 🤦🏻‍♀️

LivinLaVidaLoki · 25/06/2020 15:54

@Orangeblossom78

I just saw that, that and the "please please stay home"

I think when its sunny I may just come off MN, it truly is next level dementoring.
