Here's a new thread for discussing aircon, aubergines, and Goth music.

@Cattermole

Jesus *@InsaneInTheViralMembrane* shagging Mr Tumble what even???? I mean it'd be like being on a bouncy castle?
Love the idea that he’d remain in character throughout Grin. My oldest hated Mr Tumble. Middle one indifferent. Will see if the youngest enjoys it, at the moment he won’t tolerate anything on the TV except Peppa the fucking pork chop (as she’s known in our house).
Allflightscancelled · 23/06/2020 11:33

I’ve been here long enough to remember the thread where a couple of people admit to having shagged mr tumble!

I remember that one! Took me a while to stop puking

Ibake · 23/06/2020 11:34

@hestershaw maybe you haven't missed the point? Maybe initial reports coming in are that they're all now infertile, but because they're old not because of vaccine. It would be a brilliant exercise in drawing the wrong conclusion from a set of results!

ExpletiveDelighted · 23/06/2020 11:40

I think it highly unlikely that they would have been able to evaluate the affect of a vaccine on fertility in such short time too.

I remember those Mr Tumble threads too, I've been here 11 years (just searched my first post). My DCs were never really interested in him either.

SeagoingSexpot · 23/06/2020 11:41

there were rumblings quite early (feb ?) about male infertility being a long-term health implication of covid. It’ll all come out in the wash I suppose.

I mean, it wouldn't be surprising if a bad viral illness had a temporary negative effect on fertility, especially since sperm are so temperature sensitive, which is why men had to have external bollocks in the first place. But we haven't really had a long term to know anything about long term effects yet. Anything is possible, but long term infertility seems unlikely to be associated with it and hasn't AFAIK been associated with previous coronaviruses.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 23/06/2020 11:42

Well I've just had a job interview....does anybody else act like a gibbering idiot at them or is it just me?

NannyPhlegm · 23/06/2020 11:44

Checking in.

Both my kids liked Justin in Higgledy House (I think?) But they hated him dressing as various characters. My youngest screamed the house down every time Gigglebiz came on.
Omg at people having shagged him. Best put mind bleach in the Ocada order.

(whispers) though I did have a thing for Mr Bloom

Orangeblossom78 · 23/06/2020 11:49

Well, my friend met MR Tumble somewhere and said he was pretty full of himself. Up his own arse in fact Grin

pollyhemlock · 23/06/2020 11:51

My DD3 watches Mr Tumble ALL THE TIME. She is 29 and has a severe learning disability. Fortunately over the years I have learned to tune him out. Really looking forward to her day centre reopening though. Two days next week.

mylittleyumyum · 23/06/2020 11:53

Mr Tumble/Justin was everywhere when my DD was young. He's one of the reasons I jumped ship to Disney quite early.

I also had a thing for Mr Bloom, but I blame that on the dearth of attractive male kid's tv presenters.

Cattermole · 23/06/2020 12:01

Mr Bloom is actually married to the sister of a friend at work, and apparently is lovely IRL.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 23/06/2020 12:01

You want your children to discover some obscure band and to be able to say “shagged him” - not flicking through CBeebies. Where’s the glory?

trapped my job interview disasters are legendary. An improvement would be if I were to actually say “I carried a watermelon”.

mylittleyumyum · 23/06/2020 12:04

Back in 2014 six different samples of a tetanus vaccine from various locations around Kenya were sent to an independent laboratory in South Africa for testing.
The results showed that all six samples tested positive for the HCG antigen which is used in anti-fertility vaccines. Why was it in a tetanus vaccine aimed at young women and girls of child bearing age?
UNICEF and WHO distribute these vaccines for free, and there are financial incentives for the Kenyan government to participate in these programs.

The above was 'debunked' as a myth, but it was Unicef who debunked it.

Debunked. Is that a word? Debunk. Debunker. I need to get away from the screen and get some fresh air

Allflightscancelled · 23/06/2020 12:07

I've just been invited to a webinar called 'Navigating the new normal'. Bleurghhh! I'm not going on principle.

That must be why you're now self employed 😂

I found the one and only Proper Interview I ever did completely exhausting. A while day of being friendly, professional and impressive. Thank goodness I got the job and didn't have to do it again.

Cattermole · 23/06/2020 12:07

trapped I once went for a job interview where you had to demonstrate problem-solving skills. Not having relevant professional problem-solving skills, I talked about unblocking a sink.
The feedback suggested that I considered having counselling.

IAintentDead · 23/06/2020 12:09

I certainly wouldn't dream of suggesting that a vaccine that causes infertility may not be a bad thing to give some young, fit and otherwise healthy munts people who aren't taking a step outside until there is one

torydeathdrug · 23/06/2020 12:11

She told me that her next door neighbour (who is in her early forties) is absolutely petrified of catching Covid.

^ eye roll is does seem to be a type.

I'm totally pro-vax ... we've all had everything going (including private extras - chicken pox, menb/c/acwy etc) and my kids have participated in vaccine trials (mn headtilt moment "oh you are very brave!), I was screened out of the cv vaccine trial because I'm so staggeringly unlikely to come into contact with the virus ... but I still don't think it should be compulsory. Bodily autonomy is sacrosanct and the authoritarian stripping away of rights "for the good of society" and "for your own good" and "to be safe" is terrifying. And it clearly appeals to those who have a particularly political viewpoint.

SummerHouse · 23/06/2020 12:12

I actually carried a

iamapixie · 23/06/2020 12:13

@IAintentdead.
Harsh but fair!

ExpletiveDelighted · 23/06/2020 12:13

I went for an interview with a company making kit for a popular hobby. They asked me why I hadn't put the hobby as an interest on my CV. Big mouth here said without thinking "well I'm not interested in it" Shock. They laughed and said at least I was honest, most people put it and then when questioned a lot of them knew nothing about it. I got the job.

SummerHouse · 23/06/2020 12:14

Oh cliff hanger......

...a watermelon the other day. Couldn't stop saying "I carried a watermelon". That's the kind of story I would tell at interview.

KaronAVyrus · 23/06/2020 12:16

I once had a terrible hot flush during an interview. I got the job 🤓

SummerHouse · 23/06/2020 12:17

I thought I had sex with Mr tumble but he was only Justin. Grin

Worldgonecrazy · 23/06/2020 12:18

Isn’t ‘being memorable’ a good interview tip? I think watermelon would make you memorable!
