I've just been sunbathing. I've had a tan for weeks it's great! I am positively glowing!

I am SO PALE normally. So horrendously pale. Like I'm dead. That pale.

I'm going to start fake tanning when this is all over.

I'm also going to go abroad as much as possible for the rest of my life.

Poor dp and ds! They love a holiday but dp comes back red and DS just remains pasty bless him. I slather the poor child in factor 50 but I hope for his sake as he gets older he takes on my ability to tan very quickly!

Allflightscancelled · 25/06/2020 13:37

Seen peak madness in the supermarket today. A young, apparently fit and healthy (I know you can't always tell) man, wearing a big and serious looking mask. He took it down, coughed into the air and then put it back on again.

Further round, he was talking to his partner, so he was using it as a chin hammock. When he'd finished talking he pulled it up again, but only over his mouth. Just senseless.

And also peak dementoring on World at One. Sad face stories about the dangers of going to the beach on a hot day, sad face stories and dire warnings from the police about the physical chaos of people enjoying themselves on 4 July, and the second peak that will inevitably follow. I had to switch it off.

Orangeblossom78 · 25/06/2020 13:38

Radio 4 is a massive dementor, going on today about how dangerous is it at the beach? (never mind that the virus is not 'dangerous' for most of us)

justasking111 · 25/06/2020 13:38

I am thinking about getting a garden fork out, tying the hose pipe to it, setting on spray and walking under it. I used to do this with the kids who loved it. I am alone DH has taken DS and DIL with two kids out in the boat, stayed behind to take another DS to town to meet up with friends and hit the beach. Despite being in Wales with 5 mile limit, 2 metres distancing, and all the dementors on FB we are doing the best we can, living in the present.

Dowser · 25/06/2020 13:38

My dd bought a pop up caravan for £1000 , nice and light. She toes it herself and assembles it in 20 mins. She’ll get a call from her mates , one has a caravan another a camper van, And they’ll meet up locally for a Saturday night. Gin, Thai takeaway and a Good natter..does her the power of good

She told me she’s seen them as low as £350 for slightly smaller ones..wink, wink

There’s a farmers field not far from where we live. No booking required .Just a phone call to check it’s ok to pitch up
She’s very resourceful my daughter..and it accommodated all 5 of them when we went to wales for a meet up with welsh rellies
The price of less than a foreign holiday

Here is it parked on our pitch outside our caravan

I tan fast too, GeneGenie . Nice, isn't it?

Oh and I forgot, queue Marshall at the supermarket, talking to a queueing customer: "I don't think things will ever be how they used to be"

I bloody hope she's wrong. Otherwise I'm walking into the sea and never looking back (when I finally get to go)

Dowser · 25/06/2020 13:39

I did change the spelling of toes to tows but the iPad seemed to know better
Doh

Orangeblossom78 · 25/06/2020 13:43

The average age of the Radio 4 listener is 56 years old and skews towards an older audience

Hmm maybe why

Orangeblossom78 · 25/06/2020 13:44

"Out of the covid frying pan and into the climate change fire"

My top dementor phrase of the day.

Dowser · 25/06/2020 13:44

Good for you just asking
My lovely cousin In wales lives with dementor in chief
He thinks everyone should still be locked up for another 6 months
Yeah right
Fat pension, retired, no kids..on yer bike

Orangeblossom78 · 25/06/2020 13:45

Oh also we need to take care of UV today because there are less planes in the air creating haze to protect us (or something) according to the BBC (radio 4 again)

Bollss · 25/06/2020 13:46

Is that really a thing Grin

Apparently so! There was a cringey bloke on from something called "Unherd" going on about common sense and implying that some people were less intelligent and it required 'base levels of understanding' he started to mention Brexit...hmmm thankfully was not on for long.

Orangeblossom78 · 25/06/2020 13:48

Everything is a massive drama with the BBC atm!

Dowser · 25/06/2020 13:48

Thank god im married to Mr Dowser and not Mr Dic ( dementor in chief)
There’d be some right royal rumpuses if i was
( he’s a good man but can be a dic)

NothingIsWrong · 25/06/2020 13:48

Not round here, the bloody RAF are up and down like yo-yos

Blobby10 · 25/06/2020 13:49

@Dowser we had one of those when our kids were growing up and it was perfect. Spent many happy mornings on holiday in either Cornwall or Wales, reading a book/newspaper, drinking coffee and listening the the rain on the canvas whilst (then) DH took kids onto the park or to get some milk or other such time consuming activities Grin. We put an awning on the front of ours to make it twice as big. Would love another one but haven't got a towing vehicle any more Sad

iamapixie · 25/06/2020 13:51

@NothingIsWrong re mortality (and women being thrown under a bus), you're so right. BUT when I'm beside myself with hopelessness about this whole shitshow, I try to tell myself that the perennially stupid don't have the ability to keep focusing on Covid...
Modern life is all about 'crazes' and I honestly think that Covid and lockdown is the latest one. It WILL pass (dementory use of capitals for emphasis).
In the meantime, you are not alone.

Orangeblossom78 · 25/06/2020 13:51

The sun thing. Mind you probably more of a risk than covid to most

Zoom ballet..so sad

littlbrowndog · 25/06/2020 13:52

Bbc Scotland was full on dementors Today

Are they trying to drive our economy into the ground

Don’t go to the islands you will kill everyone there 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

TheGreatWave · 25/06/2020 13:54

dowser we are down at Saltburn. It is so normal, (outside the loos at least) a few people in masks but nothing much.

MaudesMum · 25/06/2020 13:54

If someone had told me 6 months ago, that I'd be jumping around the room going "hurrah, hurrah" because I've been able to book a haircut, I'd never have believed it. But, in a month's time (earliest appointment with my particular hairdresser) I'll be having one. I don't even mind the £2.00 PPE surcharge.

In defence of Radio 4, they do have the wonderful "More or Less" which is incredibly good at debunking some of the madder statistical claims of dementors.

KaronAVyrus · 25/06/2020 13:55

It’s ok Littlebrowndog - we can live off our moral superiority in Scotland as the only thing we need is to STAY SAFE 🤦‍♀️
