Here's a new thread for discussing aircon, aubergines, and Goth music.

I've spent the last 24 hours dreaming of having my hair done. Only a week and a bit to go and honestly it's an absolute state.

BarkandCheese · 25/06/2020 14:09

I just took DD out for lunch, KFC on a park bench, I can imagine that would cause some heads to explode. I found an open charity shop being staffed by two older ladies, one was in full on dementor mode about the crowds at the beach, but the other one told her if she’d driven all the way to the beach and she saw a crowd she’d just say bugger it and find a space on the sand.

PinkFondantFancy · 25/06/2020 14:09

Haha £4.50 PPE surcharge on haircuts here! Shock I shan't be going for some time until this mask garbage is all over.

@Nihiloxica I agree with everything you've said!

Ibake · 25/06/2020 14:09

Now I want a pop up caravan @Dowser. I'm so bloody brown this year it's ridiculous. Topping up the early lockdown bronzing. Will look like a raddled old hag in my old age bit as long as I look all sun kissed now I don't care!
I'm finding a strategy currently quite effective with dementors IRL who go on about the new normal. Each and every time I interrupt and say 'no, the current normal, this way of life will not last' It proper stops em in their tracks.

Teateaandmoretea · 25/06/2020 14:10

I may continue just cutting my own 😂

KaronAVyrus · 25/06/2020 14:15

My roots are a shocker. 2 inch of grey. Can’t decide whether I should just grow it out or not. I’m kicking the arse off 50 but I’m not sure if I want to look my age or not but I would save nearly £1k pa if I just stopped.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 25/06/2020 14:18

Friends in the islands are very dementory about this and I won’t be visiting this year - were there an outbreak, it’d end up in clan wars for the next 3 millennia.

I’m very low again and it’s affecting my MH and I’m getting scared to leave the house - nothing to do with sadly dying, just getting in a poor frame of mind. Got myself in a mental space to take the dog out then realised it’s too hot for pooch and my toe still seems to be um “wonky”.

A little boy drowned in my favourite swimming loch yesterday and it’s put the fear up me for taking mine. I can never swim when I’m with them anyway - all you can as a parent is observe.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 25/06/2020 14:19

Please don’t ever do a MN haircut. Women are drawn to it in times of desperation and financial necessity - neither points are conducive to an emergency repair job by a good stylist. Bitter voice of experience.

BlackberryViolet · 25/06/2020 14:21

I ended up using DHs clippers and going for a buzz cut. It was done just before lockdown, a gorgeous lavender. But my hair grows fast and the lavender washed out leaving me blonde. When dd said my lockdown lookalike was Boris I buzzed it off. Part of of me regrets it but it’s going to be interesting to see what colour I am actually am these days!

FizzFan · 25/06/2020 14:22

Been announced here that care homes will start to allow visiting next week. That’ll get the dementors nicely frothed up.

Ibake · 25/06/2020 14:27

Been on two posts this morning where the OP has been full of much high handed piety and had instead had her arse handed to her (and not just by you lot Grin). Tide is turning out there people. The please don't go out and the 2nd wave if you're interested.

KaronAVyrus · 25/06/2020 14:28

Second the top tip about not doing the Mumsnet Haircut.it will cost you a hefty amount to pay someone to sort it out.

Come and visit England instead Grin

There is so much more wild swimming going on than usual.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 25/06/2020 14:31

teatea my dad’s in South Wales - we may attempt a Thelma and Louise style road trip and fly off the Severn bridge if pushed too far.

HesterShaw1 · 25/06/2020 14:34

Afternoon all.

Will catch up from page 21. Boyf has been visiting the last 24 hours. First night we've had together since December. It was like being in Spain! Watched the surf and the sunset, then the evening was warm, wine on the patio with fairy lights, and someone a few doors down was playing Memories of the Alhambra on her guitar in the dark 😍

MaudesMum · 25/06/2020 14:37

I cut my fringe once during lockdown, and did such a bad job of it that the next two weeks of zoom/whatsapp conversations always started with some pointed comment about it. So I can't wait to get it (and the rest of my hair) back in the hands of professionals.

IAintentDead · 25/06/2020 14:37

@Orangeblossom78

"Out of the covid frying pan and into the climate change fire"

My top dementor phrase of the day.

Mine is anti D one on a dementor thread

'I swear some people are positively wanking themselves into a frenzy in desperation to see this mythical second peak'

She definitely needs to be on here 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

She got dementored by lots of people but it made me smile

I regularly do a MN haircut. I've got a natural wave which is quite forgiving. When it was around the Beast from the East, I was so fed up with long hair oozing from my hood and getting dishevelled on every single school run that I snapped, shut myself in the bathroom and chopped it to the shorter end of shoulder length. The layers went a bit very wrong so I cut a fringe in which saved it, and the fringe has stayed since. Bonus, it hides the frown lines.

DM complimented DS's hair, I've done that twice. Our hair seems to be growing like crazy which is odd because I'm too disorganised to bother with the hairdressers very often and would probably have gone once in that time anyway.

I don't know what the deal is with my hairdresser, we go around the corner to her house where she has a little salon. So much easier than the faff of a normal salon and the background noise.

Oh and DS1 has an online physio appointment tomorrow which is better than nothing. He seems to have some hyper mobility.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 25/06/2020 14:48

Who ARE you people with thick naturally wavy “too heavy” hair? 😂

Ibake · 25/06/2020 14:49

@IAintentDead that's hobnobs! I did wonder about sidling up to her - 'psst!' I think she'd fit in very well over here. I've read a few of her posts.

agreed

Spudlet · 25/06/2020 14:54

I’ve got a hair appointment! In August. Well. It’s something to look forward to! And I’ll feel I’m getting proper value for money with all the hair that’s going to be hitting the deck, at least...

Dowser · 25/06/2020 14:54

There’s a few of Us local great wave
I’m just up the coast
Pickachew and blackberry violet are nearby

Blobby..those pop ups are fabulous
My Dd parked hers in the small palisade type garden and because it’s not high it doesn’t block light into lounge
No storage fee
Just hitCh up and go

TheGreatWave · 25/06/2020 14:55

I told DH that bookings were open for his barbers (he doesn't have FB) and he decided that he would just continue with the clippers for now.

I'm in two minds, it just seems a whole faff. My hair does need a trim but I am actually through that annoying length stage so might just leave it. I've been embracing the grey silver for ages anyway.

BarkandCheese · 25/06/2020 14:55

I did the mumsnet haircut, it works for my hair length and type. Slightly wavy, just below shoulder length and kind of thick, although not nearly as thick as it used to be.
