A 43-year-old German prisoner who travelled around Portugal in a camper van is now the focus of Scotland Yard's investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

Let’s hope they are closer to resolving this case. Always think of the poor twin siblings.

SouthWestmom · 03/06/2020 19:41

It sounds a bit more detailed than previous leads. It would be amazing for the family to have closure whatever has happened at this stage I think.

ItsInTheShed · 03/06/2020 19:43

Probably another dead end

Moonmelodies · 03/06/2020 19:43

If he's a prisoner it should be straightforward to get him questioned.

Campervan69 · 03/06/2020 19:44

Hopefully this will shut up the disgusting trolls who have pointed the finger at the parents. I had so many arguments with people at the time who were trying to pretend they could have murdered her. I feel so sorry for the people of Portugal as well because especially in Praia da Luz that really did decimate tourism there and it's such a lovely friendly country.

YouDirtyMare · 03/06/2020 19:45

Just seen this. I hope they are getting closer to finding them

Talksense · 03/06/2020 19:46

She’s been on my mind since she went missing.

Hopefully one day we find out what happened but I doubt we will.

cushioncovers · 03/06/2020 19:48

🤞for answers.

Clicky link

knittingaddict · 03/06/2020 19:59

It sounds quite promising from what I've read. I really hope so. Can't believe that it's been 13 years.

Campervan69 · 03/06/2020 20:02

I feel very closely linked to this case because my son is the same age as Madeline and we were in Portugal at the time it happened as we love Portugal so much. We had a villa very close to to where she went missing so know the area. Every time I drive past the petrol station outside of Lagos I think of her.

GreyGardens88 · 03/06/2020 20:02

Sounds like a promising suspect from what I've read. What solid evidence will they have though if he doesn't confess? Unless he matches some DNA found in the apartment

Hairydilemma · 03/06/2020 20:04

I have always held out hope that she’s alive and safe somewhere, although I realise that’s sadly unlikely. I hope this brings her family closure at least.

AJPTaylor · 03/06/2020 20:04

Let's hope it leads somewhere, those poor parents.

PorpentiaScamander · 03/06/2020 20:07

Let's hope her poor parents can finally have some closure, whatever form that may take.

Sparklingbrook · 03/06/2020 20:08

@PorpentiaScamander

Let's hope her poor parents can finally have some closure, whatever form that may take.
Totally agree.
CheerfuIPotato · 03/06/2020 20:12

Hoping like mad there’s something in this. Although the brain dead idiots who point the finger at the parents will still blame them even if this bloke makes a full confession. They’ll come up with some wild conspiracy theory.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 03/06/2020 20:13

I agree, her poor parents. It's such a horribly long time not to have any answers. Poor Madeleine too.

OffToSingapore · 03/06/2020 20:13

I'm not really sure I believe these 'exciting new lead in the search for Madeleine' stories. They always seem to hit the press just before the police apply for extra funding for the investigation. It just feels like a PR move.

I hope the police are getting closer to finding the person who took her, but if not it's about time the investigation was wrapped up for now. It's been 13 years.

Aposterhasnoname · 03/06/2020 20:13

I’ve got a really strong feeling that they’ve finally got the bastard. I hope her poor, poor parents finally get some peace and closure, and the bastard responsible rots in jail before burning in hell forever.

onedayinthefuture · 03/06/2020 20:16

Wouldn't it be wonderful if in the midst of this awful time we are living through, that finally, this case was solved and that it led to her being safe and well.

ChicCroissant · 03/06/2020 20:17

I saw this earlier and while I hope for closure for the parents, I dread the inevitable backlash on FB from idiots (previously posting BeKind, of course).

OffToSingapore · 03/06/2020 20:19

Actually I take back my previous comment. I've just read the article in full and this does for once sound like a very promising development. I hope something comes of it.

Devlesko · 03/06/2020 20:19

Ooh, I bet he saw something Hmm what happened to innocent until proven guilty?

ItsInTheShed · 03/06/2020 20:20

I don’t think it’s fair to call people brain dead if they feel her parents may have been involved

After all, there’s zero evidence either way

For me personally I feel for them, and doubt very very much they were involved. I hope this is it
