A 43-year-old German prisoner who travelled around Portugal in a camper van is now the focus of Scotland Yard's investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

Look this is just another theory that took just 13 years to surface..

I can't help thinking cynical thoughts, but you never know do yo you? Bless that child wherever she is anyway.,

Thisismytimetoshine · 03/06/2020 20:41

@Hairydilemma

Itoldyouiwasill Flowers

Thisismytime sadly I agree but for a missing child’s parents, surely better to have answers than to die never knowing.

God yes, I hope they finally get their answer.

@SchadenfreudePersonified Grin

There's always coincidently a new lead when they are looking for more funding

Thanks, thought I'd done that but clearly not

@SchadenfreudePersonified what a very apt username you have.

Interestedwoman · 03/06/2020 20:44

Most of us know what happened- or at least what's the probability.

To think otherwise is fluffy IMHO.

If it's a valid lead they shouldn't be allocated funding for their private investigators, it should be a routine police matter.
If they police aren't following it up, the tax payers shouldn't either. Sorry.

RainMustFall · 03/06/2020 20:47

This sounds familiar, summer coming up, obviously time for the police to produce a new suspect resulting in them all having to go to Portugal for several weeks.

CallmeAngelina · 03/06/2020 20:47

Whilst I don't want to dignify EatsShootsandRuns' post with a reply, anyone would be bloody stupid to answer loaded questions from a corrupt police force who were determined to pin a crime on them. She would have been advised to not answer and was sensible to follow that advice.
Anyone who seriously thinks the McCanns are guilty of their child's possible murder needs their head examining.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/06/2020 20:47

I like to think so OneFoot

But I'm not the only person who has noticed that when the funding gets low, a new suspect miraculously appears.

I hope I'm wrong - I hope that Madeline is found, and a paedophile is taken off the streets, but I think it very unlikely.

DrDreReturns · 03/06/2020 20:49

Leave it alone. It was 1 years ago!!

DrDreReturns · 03/06/2020 20:49

13 I mean!

LaCerbiatta · 03/06/2020 20:50

If you're in a foreign country, you don't understand the system and you find your self accused of something you didn't do you are going to listen to your lawyer. I sure would! And I'm portuguese!
The blunders in the investigation and press reporting were atrocious, a complete embarassment.
I remember for example when they found a bottle of calpol with a syringe dispenser and assumed the children were being drugged!! just because in Portugal liquid paracetamol is hardly ever used and children are given supositories.

It was the most lazy, corrupt, dodgy investigation possible. Constant deliberate leaks to.the press we went wild with the information. I.was here and embarassed to be portuguese...

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/06/2020 20:50

They've taken a damn long time to suspect him haven't they.

randomer · 03/06/2020 20:50

What do they do with the interest they gain from funds for her?

SouthWestmom · 03/06/2020 20:52

The suspect people are confusing this one with is not the same. That was a convicted paedophile initials MN I think. This suspect has not been named and his crimes not revealed.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/06/2020 20:53

@DrDreReturns. Would you leAve "it" alone if heaven forbid it were your child.
I'd still be ripping the earth up with my bear hands.

SouthWestmom · 03/06/2020 20:53

They only got his name in 2017 following the ten year appeal and have according to a neighbour interviewed people who know him over that time

thepeopleversuswork · 03/06/2020 20:54

I obviously hope the parents get some resolution but I'm deeply cynical about Madeleine McCann leads. There's always an ulterior media motive.
The poor child clearly died a long time ago and dreadful as that clearly is for the family, there's something hideously mawkish abut our obsession with this and I wish people would just move on.

ItsInTheShed · 03/06/2020 20:57

@DrDreReturns

Leave it alone. It was 1 years ago!!
why should it be left alone? 13 years is nothing in the the scheme of things....nothing

it needs solving....the twin siblings need to know as well as parents

CheerfuIPotato · 03/06/2020 20:57

Can’t they find out who owned a phone number?

TerrapinStation · 03/06/2020 20:57

You know we're in the middle of a pandemic?

That suggestion is even stupider than it would be in normal times

CheerfuIPotato · 03/06/2020 20:58

I would never, ever move on. Ever.
