A 43-year-old German prisoner who travelled around Portugal in a camper van is now the focus of Scotland Yard's investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

Laver
Yup,
freeloading cops mainly

The Ben Needham case resolved itself without endless holidays for coppers
so should this one

Marcipex · 03/06/2020 21:18

Build a relationship before she goes home?

Sorry but that’s pretty deluded, poor little girl.

TheSultanofPingu · 03/06/2020 21:19

Shame on you Listening

MNnicknameforCVthreads · 03/06/2020 21:19

@CathyorClaire which photo fit and spookily close to what?

JMAngel1 · 03/06/2020 21:19

@ListeningQuietly
That is shockingly bad taste

BlackberryCane · 03/06/2020 21:20

@ElectricTonight

I don't think I need to be a professional in anything to form an opinion on something and as a mother I'd not leave my children in an apartment in foreign country to begin with.

Obviously no one knows what happened to Madeleine, I also didn't say I think the parents murdered her I simply said something was off about them but I suppose I could give people the same opinion on me.

I just hope this lead isn't a dead end.

That sounds like a long winded way of saying no, you don't have any professional expertise or lived experience of what constitutes not weird behaviour in this situation?

Let's be clear though, there's no suggestion you need to be a professional to have an opinion. My question was simply intended to ascertain whether your views are worth paying attention to or whether this is merely the Dunning Kruger effect.

ElectricTonight · 03/06/2020 21:20

@JMAngel1 I just said the same thing so beware your post might get deleted too Confused

randomer · 03/06/2020 21:20

it means this . Mutipied by 14 which makes 15799,42

ItsInTheShed · 03/06/2020 21:21

yes the nation DOES worry about a 'fair haired kid'....yes,and so bloody what!???

Chicchicchicchiclana · 03/06/2020 21:21

And how many of them are 3 years old? And how many of them are still missing 13 years later?

This case has the highest profile because the parents organised themselves and raised funds to do it.

ScarfLadysBag · 03/06/2020 21:22

Are people really still doing the 'I can't believe they left her' thing 13 years later, like it's a new and fascinating insight they've had that just has to be shared?

randomer · 03/06/2020 21:23

I cannor speak for The Nation, but come on now, please, look at the statistics.

StarUtopia · 03/06/2020 21:24

There was never any evidence that the parents had anything to do with it at all.

Wow. Seriously? facepalm

TheQueef · 03/06/2020 21:24

Ben's mum doesn't consider his disappearance solved.

ElectricTonight · 03/06/2020 21:24

@BlackberryCane to be honest there was a lot of evidence especially in the documentary which was weird , the blood, the corps scent ... like I said before I didn't say they hurt her I just said somethings off about it. Why can't I say that ?

randomer · 03/06/2020 21:25

So tens of thousands of children are " missing" and The Nation focusses on this?

ListeningQuietly · 03/06/2020 21:25

Not sure what I've said that is in any way out of order

  • I have no idea what happened to the little girl

but I do now that MILLIONS of pounds of the UK police budget have been spent in Portugal in nice resorts investigating a potential non crime

I wonder if the same effort would have been expended had she vanished in Cleethorpes

frumpety · 03/06/2020 21:26

I thought it was really interesting the way the police officer worded his request for information, emphasising the fact that the suspect is in prison now.

Mooey89 · 03/06/2020 21:26

I really hope this brings some closure for her family.

BlackberryCane · 03/06/2020 21:27

Nobody said you couldn't. Again, asking whether you have any knowledge of normal human reactions in situations like this isn't preventing you from saying anything.

TerrapinStation · 03/06/2020 21:28

@randomer

In the United Kingdom, an estimated 112,853 children are reported missing every year.
That's meaningless unless you also know how many were later found, came home of their own accord, were the subject of family disputes etc

You don't think they are all still missing do you?

Are they suggesting she was taken to Germany? Which is why he reregistered his car there the day after and why the german police are involved? Poor poor Madeleine and her poor parents. I hope this is him and it’s some closure for them.

randomer · 03/06/2020 21:30

Cleethorpes, wandered off while Mum was pissed at the Club....yeah right.

Missing means er missing?
