Shit! Is there anything I can do? Screwed up Tesco delivery.

My fault...I accidentally sent my (£200) Tesco delivery to our old address.

It’s registering as “delivered”. My son has run around there to see if they’ve taken it all in.

If they have and choose to keep it, what if anything can I do? Tesco customer service is closed at this time of night.

Can’t believe this has happened. We have very little money for more food 😥 I am such a fucking idiot.

It was addressed to your name though?

So it's still fraud that they took it in.

There was a similar thread recently about a parcel.

PinkMeringue · 01/06/2020 23:15

Yes..in our name.

Hopefully they will give it to your son.
Have you family or friends that can help you out until you get it sorted?

ChipotleBlessing · 01/06/2020 23:18

They may not have taken it in, they may have either refused delivery or not known it’s on the doorstep. Someone else’s Morrison’s delivery was just left on our doorstep, luckily I managed to grab the driver before he went.

PinkMeringue · 01/06/2020 23:20

Yes, fingers crossed that he comes back with it all.

I suppose I am assuming the worst as the app says “delivered”.

He's going round at this time Grin

Fingers crossed for you, OP

Catworrier · 01/06/2020 23:26

I did the same with Tesco with my Christmas shop. Was absolutely gutted.

Luckily they told the driver it wasn't theirs (I guess) and a few days later I got a refund.

I didn't call Tesco, we could afford to do a shop as I now have a healthy wage. The area I lived in before wasn't so easy with money so I wrote it off that the new owner would have a lovely Christmas delivery and hopefully pass on the favour to someone else in need. Also I don't think Tesco would do much on the day of delivery if you called them as it's no mistake of theirs. Unless they hadn't processed or delivered it yet.

PinkMeringue · 01/06/2020 23:27

Well he went round within 5 minutes of the delivery.

They are refusing to answer the door.

We’re fucked, aren’t we?

Frownette · 01/06/2020 23:28

Oh dear :(

You'll have to try them again tomorrow and also get on to Tescos

StatementKnickers · 01/06/2020 23:29

I wouldn't answer the door this late at night either.

Send him back at 8 am tomorrow. They can't eat much between now and then!

InkogKneeToe · 01/06/2020 23:31

Get on your local Facebook group

"Does anyone know the people who live at 123 church street? Our £200 Tesco grocery delivery was incorrectly delivered there and we'd like to arrange collecting it"

PinkMeringue · 01/06/2020 23:44

We’ll go back at 8am & call Tesco but, from Googling, I don’t think there’s anything we can do if they choose to keep it, as they’re allowed to.

Tesco deliver to an address rather than a specific person & it was the address I sent them to.

I am so, so, so stupid.

But I have to say, there’s NO WAY I would keep someone else’s shopping. No way.

I agree with naming and shaming on local social media, there will be a local Facebook page. Put something like the poster above suggested about does anyone know the people at...
The only problem now is I’m not sure I would want food that had been in someone else’s house I’d they weren’t the sort to give it back voluntarily!

Zisforstripyoss · 01/06/2020 23:59

I hope they haven't just accepted it - that is so bad!!! Yes to a fb post about "has anyone had a tesco delivery that they weren't expecting". Or maybe go round at a reasonable time tomorrow and knock again, ask if Tesco turned up last night and if they refused delivery?

Rhodri · 02/06/2020 00:00

Tesco won’t do anything - they delivered to the address you gave. If the people refuse to return your goods it’s a police matter. Agree with naming and shaming on social media to hopefully encourage them to hand the groceries over. If they refuse to return them I’d name and shame further. Lay it on thick about how you can’t afford more food and your child is hungry because of these dishonest people, etc. They deserve it if they turn out to be thieves.

heartsonacake · 02/06/2020 00:04

I think considering you sent it to the wrong address it was really out of order of you to go bothering them at such a late time of night. Of course they didn’t answer the door.

I also think 8am is too early. 9am at the earliest if you don’t want to be rude.

AllsortsofAwkward · 02/06/2020 00:06

What time was it delivered could they be in bed. Maybe post a note through the door

FelicityBeedle · 02/06/2020 00:10

I doubt the Tesco system is all that sophisticated, they may have declined the delivery and you’ll be told tomorrow. I hope it works out

kissmysass · 02/06/2020 00:12

Is it possible they're shielding and having a family member order their shopping online? Maybe they assumed it was for them. Plenty of people are doing shopping for other family members, just make sure you don't go on Facebook all guns blazing.

PinkMeringue · 02/06/2020 00:12

Taking in someone else’s shopping is pretty rude so I couldn’t give less of a shit if they were “bothered” 5 minutes after receiving £200 worth of food they hadn’t ordered. “Of course they didn’t answer the door” - they did...to Tesco 🙄

Yes, it was a accidentally sent to the wrong address - but you have to be a monumental shit bag to accept it. So fuck “rude”.

We’ll be there at 8am.

heartsonacake · 02/06/2020 00:15

So you wanted them to just randomly leave it outside? Where anything could have happened to it or anyone could take it?

This is your mistake. If you piss them off — you know, like bothering them late at night and early in the morning — they aren’t going to be inclined to nicely give it you back.

Thesearmsofmine · 02/06/2020 00:18

Do not o on social media! Of course they didn’t answer the door to random man at gone 11pm, I wouldn’t either!

Surely you contact Tesco tomorrow and see if the food was actually delivered to them or if they refused it and go from there.

SquirtleSquad · 02/06/2020 00:19

Who the fuck accepts a delivery of food clearly not meant for them?

I recently had dominos try to deliver a very large order to my house but we definitely hadn't ordered anything, the driver was so grateful I set him right and said most the time people take food that's not theirs and the drivers get fined!

Chatons · 02/06/2020 00:20

Your son should have put a note through the door with your contact details.

I’m sorry this has happened to you. I would be in tears!

Babymamamama · 02/06/2020 00:20

I would put this down to experience and let it go. Especially during covid would you really want loads of shopping that has already most likely been unpacked into someone else's cupboards and fridge?
