Shit! Is there anything I can do? Screwed up Tesco delivery.

My fault...I accidentally sent my (£200) Tesco delivery to our old address.

It’s registering as “delivered”. My son has run around there to see if they’ve taken it all in.

If they have and choose to keep it, what if anything can I do? Tesco customer service is closed at this time of night.

Can’t believe this has happened. We have very little money for more food 😥 I am such a fucking idiot.

That was to @Didkdt

NuffSaidSam · 02/06/2020 01:25

It could very easily have been turned away. Or taken in by mistake.

It's not as if the Tesco app is infallible is it?

Praps just make sure before you go round at gone 11pm, insult them on here, list their details on social media and then go round again at 8am.

Take a breath. Don't be a complete dick.

TimeTravellersHat · 02/06/2020 01:28

I would personally fear the worst. However I wouldn’t let the matter drop - not with that kind of money!

A few years back I ordered an expensive laptop and received an email stating it was “delivered”. I had been home all day and did not receive it.

A bit of digging on my part revealed it had been delivered to “9 X Place” instead of “9 X Road”. Not my error - delivery drivers fault.

Anyways, I went to “9 X Place” and politely asked for it. The guy looked extremely shifty and claimed to have no idea what I was talking about. I replied, “In that case I’ll leave it with the police to deal with. I have a copy of your signature from the courier and his testimony that he delivered it to this address”. His face fell and I stormed off. Approximately ten minutes later he showed up shame faced at my door with a crap story about how he “forgot” he had taken a parcel in and “presumed” it was his daughters (even though it had my name and a slightly different address in it).

Didkdt · 02/06/2020 01:46

@Frownette the courier company weren't bothered but to be fair the Passport Office took it a lot more seriously than the courier company.

ArriettyJones · 02/06/2020 01:49

@PinkMeringue

Taking in someone else’s shopping is pretty rude so I couldn’t give less of a shit if they were “bothered” 5 minutes after receiving £200 worth of food they hadn’t ordered. “Of course they didn’t answer the door” - they did...to Tesco 🙄

Yes, it was a accidentally sent to the wrong address - but you have to be a monumental shit bag to accept it. So fuck “rude”.

We’ll be there at 8am.

This was your mistake.

You don’t know that they accepted it.

Even if someone at that address did accept it, you don’t know who/why. (For example: If an out-of-the-blue grocery order came while I was out, my young adult DC would just take it and sign, not assuming anything out of the ordinary.)

You’ve already sent your DS round there within ten minutes of the apparent delivery time.

Turning up at eight AM or an aggressive FB post will only aggravate the situation.

I would calm down a bit. Honey might work better than vinegar.

Frownette · 02/06/2020 01:49

@Didkdt did they do replacements free of charge? I'd hit the roof if someone was running around with my passport!

That's really awful of them to take that in

FuckYouCorona · 02/06/2020 01:53

Please check with Tesco before going around there! Confused

notangelinajolie · 02/06/2020 02:19

PinkMeringue

It's too late to do anything. But please before you kick off - ring Tesco.

  1. I wouldn't answer the door either.
  2. You don't know they accepted the order.
  3. Why don't you know the people who you sold you house to?
  4. If it all goes wrong - it is actually all your fault …

So much anger for a stupid silly mistake that you actually made. I think you need to calm down and stop blaming other people.

The difference is though, in your situation it was the driver at fault and not at all you. Either way you were getting the money for that laptop by that company.

This was OP’s mistake so Tesco aren’t liable again all.

You’ve got a good idea though about telling them the police will be involved.

StoppinBy · 02/06/2020 02:56

Maybe they are really broke and thought someone had sent them an amazing gift of shopping.

Don't jump to conclusions and speak so nastily of them before you get an answer.

You said it was sent to an address rather than a name from what I understand? Maybe they just thought it was their lucky day (and yes, I have seen stories where other people have bought a huge ship for people and had it delivered).

Don't post their address, that would be a shitty thing to do until after you speak to them.

user1481840227 · 02/06/2020 03:11

Googled this earlier and a delivery driver once accidentally delivered it the wrong house (drivers mistake that time)..and it was an elderly woman with dementia who had accepted the shopping.

ChikiTIKI · 02/06/2020 03:14

I wouldn't be answering the door that late at night.

I wouldn't assume the shooing had been stolen.

MondeoFan · 02/06/2020 03:25

I'd contact Tesco first and ask/explain?

Inkpaperstars · 02/06/2020 04:58

If we had a delivery arrive unexpectedly I would not take it, I would ask the driver to return it. The residents of your old house may have done the same, and it got noted as delivery rather than delivery attempted. I would try to contact Tesco first, before trying at their door again.

Purpleartichoke · 02/06/2020 05:09

If I saw a track delivery driver on my door camera, I would assume my delivery was coming at the wrong time or that I messed up the delivery time. I would take the bags in and toss the cold stuff into fridge and freezer. Since I would be in a bit of a panic because of the surprise delivery, I would probably leave the rest of the bags untouched. I’d get on my computer trying to figure out what happened or If it was late, I’d go to bed and worry about it all in the morning.

Doryhunky · 02/06/2020 05:25

I had a veg box delivered to the wrong address due to driver error and they took and kept it. Neither me nor the family business could believe it.

Goingonabit · 02/06/2020 05:29

I bet they told the driver it wasn't theirs & its back at the depot.

whiteroseredrose · 02/06/2020 05:38

We would have all been in bed at that time of night with lights out. We wouldn't have answered the door to Tesco or your son. Maybe they did the same?

MadeForThis · 02/06/2020 05:41

Hope it's been refused.

Newjobnewstart · 02/06/2020 05:46

Tesco app updates to delivered after your time slot expires. I would speal to tesco becore you go in all guns blazing. Amd mayne apologise to the folk for inconveniencing them rather than accuse them.

RogueV · 02/06/2020 06:01

How annoying op.

Don’t let it go, hopefully you will get it sorted!

Rubyroost · 02/06/2020 06:17

Csnt believe he went round at that time of night! It is an automated message, indeed. I think you've jumped to conclusions. We got this message when tesco couldn't find our address and it had headed back to depot. You really need to get in touch with tesco befire you go knocking on strangers doors at s ridiculous time of night.

Goodebe · 02/06/2020 06:35

Awful op I’d be sick! I hope they come to their senses overnight.

Rebelwithallthecause · 02/06/2020 06:38

I don’t think anyone would take in £200 worth of shopping they didn’t order

They would most likely look surprised when the driver turned up so he may have thought to question it

Hope you get your shopping

Wecandothis99 · 02/06/2020 06:43

You never know, one of them could have been out and the other assumed the other had done it. Let us know what happened don't know why but I really wanna know!
