What would you buy yourself as a treat right now if you had the money to do so?

If you had some spending money to buy yourself a treat, what would you get?

Ordinarily I might buy myself a new pair of shoes or some makeup, but that feels rather pointless given no one is going to notice on a video call. I also don't want to buy something that has a high chance of needing to be returned, so thing like bras are definitely out because those need to be tried on in person.

I might get my hair done, but hairdressers aren't open for business.

So... what would you buy?

(I'm budgeting for the month ahead and would typically set aside a little bit of money for fun spends, but I'm struggling to think of how I would actually use that budget right now. First world problems, I know.)

A piano (a digital one with earphones, so as not to torture the neighbours)

Not so much a question of money, but a kitten once the shelters are back to doing adoptions

I also desperately want some squirrels for my garden, but I feel it wouldn't be quite right to kidnap them from the park Grin

I've done nothing but treat myself during lockdown, so I'm dreading the cc bill this month. So far I have bought:

3 new work dresses for when I start back.
A beautiful chunky sterling silver ring set with a cabuchon rose quartz stone.
A pair of pale gold leather ballet flats from Topshop
2 denim pinafore dresses
A 'Weekend' slogan sweatshirt from Hari & the Gang
A new bottle of perfume 'Blanc' from The White Company
A Breton top from John Lewis
2 new moulded cup bras from Freya
A sterling silver heart necklace
2 jigsaws
An embroidery kit, which was beautiful but too complicated so I gifted it to MIL and she loves it
Too much fancy skincare
Hardback of The Mirror and the Light
A fancy hand decorated letterbox cookie from Etsy to send to MIL to cheer her up
A framed print for our en suite off Etsy
2 little trugs to keep all my cleaning products in, one for upstairs and one for downstairs
New upholstered bed for DD off Etsy, but this was necessary as her bed had broken

Wow that's a good effort @peaceanddove. I'm going to write my list now to stop myself from buying anything more! This is what I've bought during lockdown:-

Garden sofa
Mulberry clutch bag
Jo Malone perfume
Noise cancelling airpods
Magimix food processor
Charlotte Tilbury make-up
Clinique make-up and skincare
Numerous candles
Haircare stuff
Nail polish and strengthener
New PJ's
T-shirts
Lots and lots of wine

Phew!

QVC Dyson Airwrap for anyone that’s interested www.qvcuk.com/Dyson-Airwrap-Complete-Styling-Tool.product.402427.html

peaceanddove · 02/06/2020 16:33

Thank you 😊 But my list is slightly misleading as I am a pro eBay bidder and love a bargain. My new work dresses all still had tags on but cost me just under £21 for all three and that included p&p Smile

Mirrorxx · 02/06/2020 16:36

I feel like I’ve bought loads in the last few weeks

  • mulberry tote bag
-a bag from the curated
  • 2 mirrors
  • peonies a few times

  • some clothes from sezane
Coffeecak3 · 02/06/2020 16:44

I got myself nail repair and nail oil.
Eye cream and quartz face roller.
2 Anton gin glasses for ds and dil.

Self healing mat.
A calligraphy pen.

I would like a new kindle, phone and iPad!

Riddo · 02/06/2020 16:45

Some perennials to fill the gaps in the flower border and some comfortable garden furniture so I can admire my efforts. My budget is £20 so I might get three plants 😬.

RJnomore1 · 02/06/2020 16:51

Some garden furniture, but none I like are in stock until mid August.

All the more annoying as I did treat myself to getting the garden dug out, levelled, lawned and retaining walls built last week.

Ah well.

Veiaola · 02/06/2020 16:52

Gin
Box of Hand fried crisps
Vegetables for garden- broccoli
Seeds to plant in June
Plant pots
Weed control fabric
China I collect vintage stuff bought some as presents for family mostly though. I did buy myself a few bits.
Plant feed.
Seems to be a Garden theme here but my garden keeping me sain.

Funtcase95 · 02/06/2020 16:57

New wheels & tyres for my car. I've spent any spare time in lockdown fitting new parts, getting my fitment nice, now I just need some nice wheels & tyres to finish off - although now DH is back at work, I rarely get chance with a 6.5mo to entertain!

CharmerLlama · 02/06/2020 17:04

A rattan daybed like this for the garden. I tried to buy one last year but got scammed through a fake website. We did get our money back eventually but it took weeks and weeks.

What would you buy yourself as a treat right now if you had the money to do so?
Dillo10 · 02/06/2020 17:09

A Dsyon fan if the weather is going to stay like this!

A new kitchen gadget - slow cooker, blender etc

Expensive hand wash and hand cream for downstairs lol?!

Skincare - face masks etc

An expensive candle

Dillo10 · 02/06/2020 17:12

Personally I've bought:

Dyson fan
Global kitchen knives
Blender
Lots of plants for garden
New blinds and curtains
Prints from Desenio for living room
Lots of skincare from Estée Lauder
A few dresses from Zara and H&M for wearing round the house
TEVA sandals sooo comfortable for the above

colouringindoors · 02/06/2020 17:14

A full body massage. Bliss.

Appuskidu · 02/06/2020 17:19

@Dillo10 what’s the Dyson fan like, are you pleased with it

Dillo10 · 02/06/2020 17:28

@appuskidu

So far, so good
Got the tall Dyson Cool one
Haven't tried sleeping with it on yet, so not sure what the noise level will be like on night mode but it's very powerful

Sunnywaves · 02/06/2020 17:29

@Cherrysoup I'm so sorry to hear. Flowers

SoberCurious · 02/06/2020 17:30

A second home in Devon or Cornwall

MrsR87 · 02/06/2020 17:33

My go to treats are also shoes and makeup. But I agree they both seem rather pointless right now!

I’ve just bought a fan as I’m pregnant and finding it difficult to sleep at night! That’s a real treat!

If I was going to buy something else it would be Pyjamas and skin care products.

summerrose11 · 02/06/2020 17:34

I have brought alot in lockdown, mainly decorating things and home items. I've wanted my home to look nice for so long and I finally have had the money and time to do it so I'm very happy.
Other things I've brought:
2 pairs of havaianas (I love them)
New clothes for me and my son
New mattress and bedding
Pretty artifical flowers

Things I would like:
Some nice bath bits
Summer dressing gown
Nice skincare items (any suggestions? )
A steel bowl and mixer

ScrapThatThen · 02/06/2020 17:56

A super expensive wetsuit designed for swimming.

yellowbluebell · 02/06/2020 18:10

An opal pendant necklace

FizzyPink · 02/06/2020 22:11

Oh god so much for the house, I’ve not saved anything at all.

A gold cocktail drinks trolley
Some fabulous gold rimmed martini glasses for aforementioned trolley
Loads of booze to also go on the drinks trolley
A gold cocktail making set
Some lovely wine glasses
A garden sofa set which was perhaps foolish as I thought the 6 week wait would be perfect for our garden being done but the family member who is supposed to be doing it seems to have lost interest Hmm
Big floor cushions as DP is keen on a Moroccan theme for the garden
2 big palm style plants
Way too many house plants from patch
Pots for house plants
Paint for the walls we’ve just painted
Lots of films on Prime

Barkingfuckingdogs · 02/06/2020 22:43

Love Googling all these!

I really want a reformer but one of the proper pro ones..... not the cheaper home ones with twangy bits of lazzy bands but they're about £3k and I just can't bring myself to do it but it's the only exercise that comes even remotely close to enjoyable for me.

I've just bought a beautiful top from mint velvet & Cadburies share price must have rocketed with the amount of chocolate I've eaten in the last few weeks!!
